Pet Owners! Do You Call Your Pets by a Name Other than Their Real name?

Example of Bird Peeps - This is to show people from other countries (who aren't familiar with what Peeps are) what they look like.

Hello, folks! Just wondering how many pet owners actually call their pet by thier real name. For instance, if your pet hamster is named Nibbles, do you actually call him/her Nibbles, or do you usually call him/her some made-up, cutesy-wootsy nickname instead, like "schnookums," or "pun-kin," etc. I have a female cat named MissChief (pronounced as mischief) and I usually call her either "boo-boo kitty," "pretty-kitty," or "mee-shee," which is short for MissChief. I also call her "little momma," because she's sassy. Oh yeah! She talks back! lol I also have a blue parakeet named Herbie. I call him "my wittle blue man," or "little blue peep," because he's kind of chubby and looks like a fat little blue marshmallow sitting on a perch - He's so cute!:o) **(In case you're in a different country and don't know what peeps are, Peeps are little marshmallow candies shaped into birds or bunny rabbits, and can only be found in stores at Easter time). Attached is a pic of bird Peeps.

looks like a fat little blue marshmallow sitting on a perch ahahahahaa! thank you for giving me the best mental image ever. That sounds so cute. And thanks for including a definition of peeps, I just took it to be a play on words of Little Bo Peep, which helped with the hilarity of my mental image. =) My cat's name is Mia, and I normally call her Mia, or Miss Mia, or Mia Cat, or Fat Cat (even though she's very slender, but that's what my boyfriend calls her and it just stuck =P), I also call her meany, and pretty and princess. And on various occasions I just use baby speak that can't be deciphered, but contains a lot of syllables =P

=D I call my boyfriend's siblings munchkins, and enjoy finally having someone to give noogies too (nice, gentle ones that don't knot the hair too much =P), because I'm the youngest child in my family =P Say hello to your cute animal family for me! =)

LOL glad I could add some humor to your day. And, yes, he's adorable - my little fat blue munchkin (a new name for him, btw). I also call him munchkin butt. :o) LOL I do the baby speak thing too. You use every letter of the alphabet at least twice, but in no sensable order...lol That's hard to type, so I decided not to mention it, but since you brought it up... lol

Tabby and Pumpkin - Picture of Tabby with his brother Pumpkin
Most of ours we call by name but we do have one that has a nickname. Our one cat Tabby suffers horribly from allergies. Due to these he's allways congested. His breathing can sound like an obscene phone call and when he's purring it's even worse. So he was nicknamed Snuffy. He answers to both names. He doesn't seem to mind what we call him as long as we give him lots of love. Below is a picture of him with his brother Pumpkin. Tabby is the white cat with some black dots.

You're very welcome. I'm glad you like them. We have a bunch of cats and these are just two of them. Of course right now Pumpkin is laying right next to my monitor.

Yes, my sister and I used to. We used to call our pets as "Baby". Because we don't have a kid in the house and they're the only thing we have that needs to be taken cared of. Sometimes if they look like lonely or not in the mood especially when it comes to eating time, we used to be sweet on them and call them Baby. Sometimes too, if we can't find them to say goodbye, we just shout Baby and they'll come out. We call them all Baby. hehehe..

Isn't it strange how we all do that. I named my cat KJ, then my boyfriend starting calling him Fluffy. His new name is now Fluffy.

My dog's name is Jack and I have about a million different nicknames for him! I call him Pony, Po Po, Boo Boo, Jackson, Frodo, Jacky Whacky... the list goes on and on! It was really bad when I accidentally called my boyfriend "Boo Boo"! He looked at me funny, and I said, "I am so sorry! I don't know why I called you that... That's what I call my dog!"

My cat's real name is Phantom, and that is what I usually call him. Though on occasion I will call him Panther because he is so big and he is solid black. The only other name I do call him his "kitty kitty", but who doesn't do that?

I have an American Eskimo named Einstein but I usually shorten it to Einie when I talk to him. Sometimes when I am wrestling with him I just call him dog, but usually Einie.

I normally call my animals names that either have their name in it or are close to their name. Like I have a sugar glider named Dominic and I call him "Nic Nic" and my pom's name is Lady and I call her "Lady Bug". Another glider's name is Tails (because most of his tail is gone) and I call him "Taily Tails". I never really thought about the fact that I rarely call them by their real names until this discussion.

My dog's name is Tinker, but most of the time we call her Tink, we don't really call her any cutesy names, they really don't fit a 75lb dog lol. However, my s/o named her Tinker because he wanted a name that was more fitting a small dog, a bit of his humor. We do refer to her as BSR sometimes (Big Spoiled Rotten) lol My daughter has an American Eskimo puppy, her name is Gabby, but I call her the Gabinator, because she takes on my dog lol she's fearless.

My cat's full name is Storm Cloud. Her nickname is Stormy, and that branches off into Stormykins. Which then breaks down to "Kins" or "Kin-Kins." So basically my cat has plenty of names, and if I feel like calling her by her full name, I will, but it's usually just Stormy or down.

Bubba is also Lubby Bubby or Luber Bubber or Bubby or Bubber. Some times he gets a dingle berry so i call him S---A--. I had a hamster which I named Hammie and did call her Hammie. My mum has a cat called Paws but he's nicknamed as mum's shadow as he's black except for his front paws which are white and he follows my mum around the house! My mum did have another cat called Taurus (we didnt name him, her old neighbour did!) he was nicknamed fat cat as he was on the large side compared to his brother Paws! I have never seen those Peeps before but they do look tasty!!
