Bicycling has been enjoyable to me during my younger days where I had more stamina then. But these days, no I don't think at my age and state of health it's advisable. You see, I am diabetice--but of course diabetics are required to do physical activities; but I have also mitral valve prolapse, so that strenuous actvities are likewise discouraged. I have noticed too that these days, I generally tire easily. But for the young and healthy, bicycling is really good for you....

I would love to cycle to work, but there is nowhere we can keep our bikes once we get there, and I always walk to work anyway as it's only 15/20 minutes walk away through the centre of town so it's the best way to get there and of course it's more environmental too!

I am actually going to be buying myself a bicycle so that I can bicycle to and from places. I will be using it to bike to and from work, and will be laughing at those who use cars and waste even more money when they don't really have to. When I get enough money I'll also buy a moped so that I can use it and go a bit faster, but still saving money and not using as much fuel. It has it's benefits either way, and no I wouldn't care the distance as long as I could get to and from work safely.

my friend u have started a very important topic. i think in todays world everybody should be concerned abt this idea of cycling. i work in a managerial position in pVt company and i used to cycle to my workplace. my workplace is around 6 kms away from my home. i have a gud racing cycle and i used to reach withing 10 - 15 minutes time. main advantage is u do not have to worry abt the traffic, road condition, fuel. O&M,. its gives u so much freedom in life. the day when i haver decided to cycle i was a bit hasitenet. but now i can'nt even stay without my cycle. but in india we donot used to have slow moving vehicle track. so no place for people like us on the road. in india people thinks abt the idea that he or she should cycle but cann't implement because of the worry that their status in the society will go down. people i meat on my way to office and on the road advice me to buy a bike or a four wheeler. what i want to say as a whole is that take the gud side of the western culture and open ur mind. stop buying vehicles and start cycling. think abt the sustainability of the world.

I have considered cycling to work, but there are a couple of things which put me off. I work in an office and we are generally expected to be smart, i.e. skirt and blouse. Cycling in a skirt is not very easy, and there are no shower facilities at work for me to freshen up after a trip on the bike. Additionally, the weather is so changeable here that cycling in the rain is also not fun. As a compromise, we have bought a scooter for my husband instead of a car. He has a little further to travel, but uses far less fuel than a car to get across town. Additionally, he doesn't need to turn up to work quite as smart as I do.

Actually, I have ridden to work many, many times. The problem is that I don't have a key to any of the buildings I work at, so I have to wait until someone else comes before I can go inside and change into my work clothes. And, when it's time to leave, no on wants to wait until I change back into my bike clothes. So, that's one reason why I don't bike to work all that much. Also, I work at a lot of different places at irregular intervals, so most of them don't know I am coming on my bike. But, I also get called to work from one place to another and I need my car to get there ASAP. I work at night and many of the places are 20 miles from my house. It's also very hilly, so that would be a problem, too. But, I try to ride my bike as much as possible just about everywhere else. In fact, in less than an hour, I will be riding my bike to do one of my daily chores.
