Think before you speak

There are a few long time customers that we have that make comments that hurt. I am hypoglyceamic. I have to eat snacks in between regular meals. I don't particularly like having to eat extra, but it is neccessary. When someone makes a comment about that's all I do is eat, especially when they know this, it upsets me. Are they not thinking? Do they not give a rats butt? Do they think it's cute? I don't know, but it makes me self conscious. Support would be nice ya know.

My country has a idiom that: courtesy costs nothing, so use well-chosen words suit others. I always think before I speak and do that I think.

sometimes we just have to realize ppl are not always nice and even more often no they dont think before they speak, I believe we are all guilty of that one. My daughter is hypoglyceamic, when she was diagnosed at 16yrs old the dr didnt give her any advice on what to eat, but told her to eat every 2 hours but dont get fat or you will have other problems. She came home crying, needless to say I had a visit with him and none of my children see him anymore, this wasnt his first occasion of lack of communication manners. But there is hope my dear, as I have seen with my girl, you have to get tough skin and and when they say that ask if they would rather you not eat then they can get prepared to take you to the hospital when your bloodsuger is so out of wack that you cant think and pass out. You do what you have to do to be healthy and the others well....there are some not real kind words we can say about them :)

Bless her heart. There are indeed many doctors out there that have no tact or compassion. This condition can be scary, knowing it can turn into diabtetes if not taken care of. It's also frustrating. I get pretty moody when my sugar starts to act up. Sometimes it's hard to bite my tongue. It's embarrassing to break down in front of others. Thank you for your response and I'm glad you found another doctor.

i think when people say so, even after knowing the exact reason, it is very bad of them. people should not make thsoe blunt comments when the know the exact reasons. i think you should make it a point that you are not getting them well.

Sweet Draggie.. Maybe they are just jealous cause they think you are having fun doing this and would like to eat more?? Who knows..some people are weird and have no class and only think Me me me Maybe we will have to think of a cute come back to that so they might feel like an idiot...maybe something like.."I'm sorry would you like some? I have this special diet that i have to eat and never thought about maybe you wanting some" I still think you are number 1 and I Love you!

Thank you Rose. I love you too. And that is a good suggestion. I will try to remember that. I do have to admit, the particular customer that did this yesterday does love to be aggravating. He is a major nut. And play time is good, but it isn't appropriate at all times. Hugs

I know this feeling. I'm allergic to beef and I have a problem chewing and swallowing because my jaw is so unaligned from an accident so It takes me awhile to eat and I eat smaller portions because of it. People know the reasons for this yet they repeatedly say something or pick on me about it and it hurts. Almost everyone I know eats beef as a majority of their meat and I can't but they'll say things like I'm picky or I look sickly and they know I have a medical condition causing it. I want to be able to inhale my food and not have to worry about literally chewing it to mush in order for me to swallow it. I want to eat beef. It's annoying when all they have is beef and act like it hurts just to make sure before they invite me, have some chicken, fish or turkey for me to eat.

Bless your heart. I do understand taking forever to eat. I got Bell's Palsy 2 and a half months ago. I still have it. My jaw is still kicked over and it is difficult to eat period. It takes forever to finish a regular meal. I feel for you. This will go away with time, I can't imagine having this kind of difficulty chewing for my entire life. Blessings and hugs.

It's amazing that there are so may ignorant people in this world, Don't get upset, just pray that they wise up and stop flapping their lips just to hear themselves talk. People like that don't have the smarts to know how annoying they are. I really don't have patience for those kind of people and want to slap them.

i can understand what you mean... it is really hurtful when somebody makes a rude comment about people when they don't know the full circumstances of the person... i think it is better to keep our mouth shut rather than to talk and hurt people's feelings...

I also hate those who don't think atleast twice before they speak but I think it is just natural for people to do so.

I believe in that saying or shall I say, principle. We should do this to avoid trivial and even big arguments with others. Sometimes, problems may arise such as hurting someone's feelings or ego perhaps. We need to be sensitive somehow and respect others.

hi carolyn63, i think those people who makes bad comments about that really don't understand what you are going through, if i were you i won't be upset and i will still continue to do whats best for me, cause would they care if you get sick? i think NO.. so why would you even care of what they say?! some people are really judgemental, you don't need to please them anyway. Just take care of yourself. God bless!

hello carolyn63, sorry to hear about that, i will surely feel the same and i cant blame you. maybe next time when someone say something about it just tell them, at least you're eating kidding aside, some people dont know when to really stop talking or commenting about something, i do that sometimes but i try to be cautious and tell them that i am just joking THOUGH i know sometimes such joke is not working. i even offend my husband by joking around like that. anyway, i dont know what to say really. if it happens to me i will let her know that i am offended and i will openly say why i say so. some people just need a knock for them to realize what they are doing. anyway, dont worry. you are doing your best to take care of yourself and that is all that matters. you cannot please anybody and most of the time no matter what you do some will always say something about you. SOME people ei? cheer up, you're not alone! takecare!

Some people can be so thoughtless and uncaring and words just jump out of their mouths as though their brains were not engaged. If they knew you had to have these snacks for health;s sake they should have kept their mouths shut Did you know that a lot of times hypoglycemia can be a prelude to full blown diabetes in future years:? do get checked for diabetes quite often just to be safe I had hypoglycemia for several years before I became diabetic.

I do know that. I take herbs and try to eat right to control my sugar. I have noticed that if I get majorly stressed of over heated it tends to play with my sugar. I don't want diabetes. I don't want to have to worry about going into a coma either. The young man that works for us has diabetes. He only found out about 3 months ago. He is having a hard time getting it regulated. They had to start him on shots immediately. I keep snacks in my purse. I am trying to lose weight. I try really hard to take care of myself. Sometimes things pop up, that's part of life. The thing is, the doctors didn't find it. My alternative therapist did. The doctors were checking me in the mornings. My sugar would go nuts in the evenings. I had to sit up in bed to sleep because the nausea was so bad. In fact, I almost drowned in my sleep one night. That is how we discovered what was going on. That is why I tell people, make them test at different times. Sometimes it is reactive, depending on what you eat. Thanks.

I know what you mean. Some people are just too cruel! They dont know when enough is enough. I would just tell them how it is! That's just me though.

That must be very difficult for you, i don't know why others cannot be just a little bit considerate of others. If they were in that position they would want to be treated nice. So sorry you have to go through that. You do what you have to do and don't worry about all those who don't understand, its best for you.
