Who's better Batman or Superman?

Batman is the clear answer here. Allow me to start by saying that I don't even put Superman in the "hero" category. He was born with super powers and it takes NO effort on his part to carry out his superpowers and save people and be called the hero. The only challenge he has is maintaining a dorky Clark Kent persona so nobody gets suspicious and try to get Louis Lane to like him. There's nothing impressive about him as a person at all. On the other hand... Batman has NO actual superpowers and just has to pull off the "hero" thing totally on his own strength and on his ability to come up with and invent sweet technologies that allow him to do super things like fly and glide and fight and other cool stuff. He's the real hero because he's just an average guy trying to save the world. Like me!

I couldn't agree more. I never really saw Superman as a hero. Yes he went out and saved people, fought off villains and the like but he wasn't really put at risk. He couldn't be hurt. The only thing he had to worry about was someone using kryptonite on him. Batman on the other hand was human. He could be hurt. If he was discovered her could have lost a great deal. He didn't have to go out and be the hero but he did so. He put his life on the line every time he went out as the Dark Knight. True he did have money and was able to have all those cool gadgets but those only assisted him. He still would have been a hero without them.

Not sure if I understand you but we seem to think the same on this subject. Thank you for the best response. That was nice to get in my email.

I like Clark. I think it would be so easy to be evil if you have all those powers, so being a good guy and an all around nice guy can be tough. On the other hand, I also like Bruce - I like his anx, his darkness, his total coolness - I did not care for the 60's Batman.... Having said that - I did write a story in that universe back in the early 1970's

For me, it's definitely Batman! Don't get me wrong though, I do consider Superman a hero. Sure, he was born with a biology that automatically grants him abilities we label as super powers, when he is here on earth, BUT he could easily have decided to use those abilities for evil, rather then to help. Many people would have, knowing that they could get away with robbing a bank or beating up the high school bully, and never even have to give away their secret identity. Still, Batman just rocks! He has only his wits and inventions to help him. He is normal, average, like everyone else (well, a bit richer, and having much more time to spend at the gym getting in shape perhaps, but you get the idea). But, more so then the fact that he is an average guy who really is risking his life every night (even when there isn't any krytonite about), he gets my vote because I can relate to the character's personality more readily. He struggles with right and wrong, unlike Superman who just seems to always know what's "right" and go with that. Batman's kind of like the "anti-hero". What he does is against the law for the most part, and is sometimes done in the name of revenge, rather then justice. He gets angry, and he makes mistakes on a fairly consistent basis. In this way, he is rather akin to Dare Devil. But, he still has something about him; something ingrained into the very nature of his character that makes him utterly unique and absolutely the best hero.

These characters are just for the sake of the movies and they are not true living people. We can learn a lesson from it but I think we'll not put so much emphasis on them!

Dude...superheroes are important. Who's going to save the world if not superheroes?

Additionally superheros are important because they are based on archetypes and we can learn much about the world and ourselves from them. If you read between the lines and don't just blindly look at things, you can learn a lot about the world we live in.

Well, I like superman the best, I just think that he is better looking! I have never been a batman fan, perhaps he is more for men. Superman is definately one for the ladies to lust after. Plus there have been some great series made over the last couple of years!!

Wow, really? I much prefer Batman. Come on, have you seen Christian Bale? Hot! Plus Batman's darker side appeals to me more so than Superman.

Well, considering the fact that batman makes his own stuff, lemme ask you a question! would you have not considered yourself a superhero if you were born with superpowers. Being a superhero is not about jumping up and down the walls trying to save the world. Its about making the right decisions to make sure that everybody is safe. Superman could have used all his powers to do something bad and none could have done anything about it, but he chose to use his powers for the better. Coming to the case of Batman, his history made him a better person. His parents were killed by a local gang lord for no reason of theirs and he gets booked for it. He makes up a decision to take revenge although initially it is limited to kill the bad guy who killed his parents, but he goes on to take up the mantle of a superhero and man the city of Gotham. Its all about decisions. Anyone who doesn't care about self and takes decision in the favor of others for their betterment is a superhero. SO we can consider both of them as superheroes. bourne

I would not exactly paint batman as a "good person" or "white knight". If you follow the comic books, he definately has a dark side, and he is willing to do dark things in order for the world to be better.

I go for superman, he is a character that is human with superpowers, from outer space, something more believable to me. He is also very strong but has a fault, so that makes him more human like too.

I like Superman much more. He is not only much more powerful, but also he is kind. In Batman 3, you can see that there can be an evil Batman which made me shed my tears for how he treated to his girlfriend. I love China

Greetings. I'm not saying that I prefer Superman over Batman (because I too prefer Batman over Superman), but I have to say Superman wasn't born special as most would judge him to be. He was born as a normal Kryptonian, its just his alien physiology that makes him special when he is on Earth. Perhaps if Bruce went to other planets with different suns he will have powers that can par with Sup. But then again he has been traveling the universe, the multiverse, and even the Marvel universe, but I haven't seen him with super powers. Perhaps Batman's brain is his "mutation/special power" and he is the one who is "gifted" and not Superman. Over all, though both Batman and Superman are ideal role models, but me being human, I say Batman is better. Besides in the end Batman trumped over Superman using his own ingenuity.
