Some good and some bad performances tonight on AI

Down to the last six tonight and it was the music of Lord Andrew Webber. Meaning.... songs from musicals. I was needless to say, concerned for my favorites, but really they pulled it out. Ranking Wise: (Best to worst) 1. David Cook 2. Carly Smithson 3. David Archuleta 4. Jason Castro 5. Seyisha Mercado 6. Brook White I could flip flop on Jason and Seyisha but withhout a doubt the weakest performance tonight was Brooke White. I see her leaving this week. I think Jason has enough fans to carry him through. David doing the song from the Phantom of the Opera was great. It was nice to hear him do a song that showed his range, and also a softer, more emotional side. Carly singing Jesus Christ Super Star was quite fitting for her. She nailed it. David Archuleta, while I don't remember the name of the song, (dangit, Simon was right again.) his voice was actually more interesting tonight than it had been for me in the previous weeks. He sang it nicely and he did well. Seyisha Mercado sang a song very fitted to her voice, and she was on pitch, and her performance was good. I do still think she will be in the bottom three. Jason Castro doing Memory from Cats was actually the first song that came to my mind for him when the theme for this week was announced. I thought he would do a bit better on it, but he's cute as a button, and I think his fans will carry him through as well. Brooke White's performance... well.... Once she got going, she did ok, but the song just did nothing for me. I recall someone saying she was too "goody goody" and I'm beginning to agree with them. She has a nice voice, but her confidence level just isn't up there with the rest of the contestants. I really believe she is history after this week. What is your take on tonight's show?

I cannot believe that they voted Carly off. She did so much better than some of the others. She nailed her song, but that wasn't enough. I wish her the best. I am sure we will hear from her again.

I was sad to see her go as well, I actually thought she would make it to the final three. Something is amiss with the voting. They need to stick with one number per contestant.

Based on last nights performances, I think it might be Brooke's time to go. I like her alot but I think the people voting will not over look her struggles last night. I like Jason a lot too, and I think he struggled last night also. If it has to be one of the two to go home, I prefer it be Brooke. I would like to see Jason stay around a little bit longer, although sadly I don't think he can win it.

I was looking on the idol forums a bit ago, and someone said Jason wasn't talented like the others. I don't know what show they are watching, but it ain't the same one I have seen. Brooke is definitely the weakest of the remaining contestants, and although I don't think Jason stands a chance of winning, I do think he will do well after AI.

It looks like you rated them wrong. Ok Chris Cook was right but Brooke was wrong.

Well, I just got home and had to zip through the recording of tonights result show, as I was attending my son's FFA Banquet, so I had to tape it. And all I can say is it's definitely starting to look like something is fishy. I see a few possible scenarios.... 1. 19 Entertainment already has their placings picked for the contestants. 2. People aren't voting based on talent, it's becoming a popularity contest. 3. People have no idea what real talent is. I was to say the least, completely shocked by tonight's results. I was completely shocked by the choice of the bottom two. At worst, I thought the bottom two would be Brooke and Jason. Definitely not Seyisha and Carly. Someone got something wrong. I think it was around this time that things started to appear kind of off kilter during the seasons with Chris Daughtry and Bo Bice. As soon as they switched to double numbers for voting, things got kind of wierd. They need to just stick to one number per contestant. Just my take.

Personally, I loved Seyisha.... I thought this was her night.. Just as Crrie Underwood is to country - Seyisha is to Broadway... I did not like Jason's performance, I thought it was weak at best. Brook was weak, and it bothered me when she started over. I think that she will go home.

For the most part, I pretty much agree with your take on it. I hate it when Carly does well...lol. I really like Jason, but I was torn with his performance- it left me sort of 'confused'. I felt horrible for Brooke, but I agree with Randy and Simon that she did the right thing starting over. She is very meek and it is self-sabotaging. I hope she stays, but I will not be surprised if her time is up. David Cook- WOW. I thought he did awesome. My favorite performance of his? No. But for what he had to work with- he pulled it off amazingly. I tend to think your choice for bottom three will be correct- but I "hope" you are wrong and Carly not Jason is in the bottom. I don't much care for her- I loved the T-shirt, though! lol! I also "hope" Syesha is the one to go...though I concede she did very well tonight!

Jason made a poor choice with his arragnement that is for sure. But I think he will be ok this week. Truly, Brooke was the weakest. Starting over or not, she still has this stage presence issue that she can't seem to get past. Carly was really good last nite, but I'm just not sure she has the fan base to carry her through. She has grown on me just like Jason has. I'm fairly certain that it will be Brooke that leaves tonight. What I'm beginning to wonder though, is who will be the final two? I think David Cook will be one, but if people like Carly keep stepping up their games, it could be any of them that make it with the exception of Brooke. Her time is up.

I am sure many will disagree with me. But here is my order. Based on last nights performances alone. 1. David Cook 2. Carly Smithson 3. Syesha Mercado 4. David Archuletta 5. Tie between Brook and Jason, I love Jason and I love his voice but he should not have tried to tackle that song, and the fact that he completely left out the power parts, just a bad choice all around, he is a cutie though. People are just letting David A. sail through, and though he is srong and consistent, I have to say I was much more entertained by Syesha last night than him.

I don't know that I agree with you on your take on David Archuletta. It's not that they are letting him sail through. He's a kid and most likely appeals to a bigger variety of people. He's gonna have the tweens, and then the moms then the grandma's. He's got that innocence thing going for him that will appeal to the grandmas and the, "he'd be perfect for my daughter" thing with the moms, and then the tweens that just think he's cute. Really, last nite was the first time I thought he did better than average. But he's not my favorite. It's not that Jason shouldn't have tried that song. I think it could have been aranged differently and he would have been done better. He never had the chance to show his voice with that arangement. I like him best when he's got an instrument in front of him. He seems more relaxed that way. I'm looking forward to next week, regardless of the theme, it's going to be better than this week. This was a bad idea all the way around. I hope they make a note of it for next year.
