Mine do, big time! Here's what I have found out from some research on the net. Try not to fly with a cold Take antihistimines 1/2 hour before flight Hold your nose, keep your mouth closed and blow (do this alot) chew gum (never worked for me) Yawn alot (also never worked for me) Wear "earplane" plugs in your ears during flight (buying some soon) That's about all I have found out so far. I anyone has any other ideas, please feel free to post!

Earplugs work for me and several years ago a businessman told me to get them. He also suggested having a mint candy and keeps a handful of them in his carry on luggage. The chewing gum didn't work for me like having a mint. I'm not sure why the mint helped me more than the gum.

Yes my ears sometimes hurt when I am on the airplane. What I do is, I swallow saliva a lot. I also have candies with me and I sip candies and swallow. Sometimes the earphone that the airline provides for listening to music or movie also help.

I first flew on a plane in 1987 and I carried on flying with painful ears until 1997. Then a friend gave me a pair of ear planes plugs to try and they prevented me from getting any pain in my ears. Now I have carried on flying minus pain in ears. I have tried yawning as well as holding my nose and blowing but these methods are not as effective as wearing ear planes plugs. I think flying with a cold can bring ear pain to people that do not normally suffer from this. Sniffing a product for a cold sufferer is helpful for these people.

My ears hurt terribly when I fly. I haven't flown in years because of this. I've done all the above with no relief. I will be watching this post for other suggestions. My husband did get the special earplugs for flying and they did help - he said they were $5.00 a few years ago - he got them at a luggage store in the mall.

I found a pair at walmart for %5 so I hope they help. My ears hurt so bad when I fly it feels like someone sticking a pin in them, just sharp stabbing pains and then I can't hear for hours. I hate it so hope this works. Thanks.

The effects are always worse when you have a cold as I have unfortunately experienced. So if you have to fly with a cold load up on the medicine before you board. This is a crazy story, but I have tons since I use to work for an airline. One time a flight had to make an emergency landing because an elderly passenger was having a ceasure. The captain decided it warranted an aggressive (translate ridiculously fast and steep) descent landing. When they landed, two passengers had to be taken to the hospital. Another passenger had a severe cold and when they did their aggressive decent it basically busted her ear drum. Of course, this happens only on rare occasions. The chewing gum does work really well. Also, for small children I have seen flight attendants give them juice to sip on. This seems to work pretty good, too.
