Went outside for some gardening therapy weeding and watering the floers and shrubs etc. The Asiatic Lilies I have are getting tall now. They have sprouted about 2 inches since the nice rain storm we had Monday evening. This is one of maybe 100 that I have in my front yard bordering my house. It is about 4 inches tall in this shot and will grow to about 2 feet to 3 feet tall.I love the water resting on the leaves from my watering them. Do you have any lilies of any type? Any type of flowers? How about a photo to share here in this discussion? Thanks all. HAPPY GARDENING FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I really should borrow one of my kids' digital cameras! I have some sort of lily by our mailbox.. It was there when we bought our place, and they come up every year.. pretty pale pink ones.. I really should see if I could transplant a bulb or two this fall. They spread extra slow (I think) as it's a little rocky and sandy there.. What I have is irises and I need to do some major splitting up of them! Which I may do this spring, in the next say or two - before it's too late that is.. - I do have lots of lily of the valley..

My earliest blooming flowers - My tulips, grape hyicins (sp?) and pansies I transplanted.
I have taken this picture, but only of my flowers that have bloomed already..tulips,grape hyacinth (sp?) and pansies I transplanted. I do have iris' and daffodils, but they have not bloomed yet..I do have (or did) Asiatic, tiger and another lily, but now I only have the tiger, my other 2 were transplanted into my neighbors garden when I thought we were moving..I got all my plants back but those 2 lilies and I am hoping to get them back this year..

Yes it's HYACINTH. I checked. My iris are yet to bloom as well. Usually early to midMay they will. I've thought of tulips but they don't last very long so I have yet to buy any. The Lily's stayed flowerd for a lot longer I think than tulips do. As far as those lileis, they should have spread some and you can take a few if they let you. Mine spread like weeds. Thanks for the spell check.. Since the lilies are mine anyways, I will get them back, that is if they survived and if they did spread, I will definitely share with my neighbor who was kind enough to allow the use of her flower bad..

I had lilies ages ago. A few are surviving, not many. I had a coupon for a store last week and got a couple of bags of lily "bulbs" and will plant them tomorrow. Not sure where, but I will do it.

I bought mine through a large catalog company. They were costly but they also gave me $25 free with a $25 purchase and they were guarenteed for a year as well. If they didn't grow then I'd get my money back. I still love this company. Good luck with yours as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Nothing so far here. But we had snow on the ground still when yours started growing. But after the storms now our grass is green so thats a good sign things will start growing.

You need to set some type of mulch on the plants in late fall. Leaves work well for this. My Mini-Golf hole is nice and green in the front yard. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY!!~

Small Cluster - This is a small cluster of 3 Lilies
Bummer. I have so many flowers and plants planted all over. This yard was barren when we bought it and I have brought life to it and the neighborhood with my green thumb. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Aren't these guys great. You just stick them into the ground. They don't care what kind it is and they grow and multiply. This is an easy plant to grow. Mine are about 5 inches tall now. I made an arch with them about 7 years ago and they have spread like mad. I love them.

I have orientals dotted into the arch. They haven't spread. But have never failed.

Tiger Lilies - More and more beautiful every year!
We have tiger lilies that started off as about 3 stalks and each year, they grow more and more abundant. I don't have any recent pictures but, this one is from May 24, 2006 and, they have probably doubled or tripled in abundance since then. They haven't bloomed yet this season and, I suspect they will be a little late this year. The buds are growing and all the stalks have grown but, due to the crazy weather we have had this Spring, I can't see them blooming until either the end of May or closer to the middle of June. A really late season for them this year!
