I tried to enlarge this photo as best I could without it looking pixelated. I was working next door to this San Diego gas station where regular unleaded was $4.09. I hear that the station is hardly ever open and no one ever uses it. I took this photo with my cell phone.

It's getting bad all over. I live in New Jersey, I paid 3.45 a gal. this morning. I know I'm dating myself, but I remember paying 28 cents a gal. back in the 60's.

Yeah, I was planning a road trip for this month, but now I can't take it because my hours got cut and the price of gas is so high. I do a mileage card for my work and I only drove 50 miles last week.

No, kidding sherlock - I remember a few gas wars when I managed to get gas for 10 cents at the Ritters - wonder what happened to them?

theres a station down the road from me that always has gas at about 20 cents higher than everyone else, they don't have self-serve and they are really only open like 8-6 and closed on Sundays. but they do a lot of car servicing and I suspect that is how they make their money rather than the gas.

I don't think this place does any servicing at all. I think he has a store, but it doesn't seem to be open. I just wanted to mention, in case someone sees this way off in the future, that the picture was taken on 4/23/2008. I'd bet a month from now, people won't think it's any big deal.

I can believe it. Our gas is at $3.59 a gallon. It is really getting way out of hand.

Luckily, most stations are not this high, except in my favorite east county town of Borrego Springs where it's $4.19 a gallon for regular.

Howdy Darlene, I do not doubt that no one uses that station, but I wonder why they are closed so much. It is a scary age we are in right now. now they are limiting rice and flour purchases, I mean what is next? I shakes me to the bone.

Yeah, I tried to find out why he was hardly ever open, either. But, there was someone there today, working, just no one driving in.

Wow! Where I live regular unleaded is only around $3.40-3.45, but that's still an all-time high for us. Diesel has just topped the $4 mark. And to think a few years ago, I was complaining about $2-a-gallon gas!

I know, I remember when I thought $2 a gallon was outrageous. Now, I wish we could go back there.
