As I notice, SALT is one of the condiments that we can’t live without when my mom is cooking. Even if I just cook a simple breakfast like Egg or eggplant omelet, I always have to add little salt in it…. Then there goes the garlic, pepper and others but we always use SALT. Geez... I love salt hehehe… What about you guys, cooking oil, what are the other condiments that you always use in your cooking? Oh, let me say this::: I love you guys! I know this is out of the topic but wanna say it… Everyday, you are becoming a part of my life… Mushy!

Salt is a big one in my house too. We can't live without salt! We use olive oil quite a bit. Aside from those two things; I also use toasted almonds and crushed red pepper a lot. My husband went through a lemon pepper phase for awhile. He wanted lemon pepper on just about everything. That started to drive me crazy! I can only eat so much lemon pepper!

I could never do without salt and pepper. I hardly ever use any other spices but I always use those two when I cook. I have to have them to spice up my food or I won't eat it because it does not taste very good without it.

Besides salt, sometimes we will use sugar. We will add a little into the food when I cook it. It will be much more delicious. And my friend told me if you add a little bit sugar when you fried the vegetable, it will remain green and has a nice look. I love China

soy sauce for my asian/curry dishes I make all the time and it is a must for my turkey burgers. I also have to have sesame oil too. I must have parmesan cheese if I make anything italian and I have to have it on my veggie soup too. For mexican it would have to be green tabasco. I love that stuff!

You are very sweet!! I guess salt is a big part of life and when it comes to cooking, no matter how much we are told that salt is bad for us, food just does not taste the same without it. I use a lot of condiments if I am cooking, I use a lot of different herbs in things as they give a lovely taste if you get the right ones.

Thank you! I love you too! And, I can't live without salt, olive oil, minced garlic and, often Basil. Although, I could probably go a few meals without all 3. I didn't use any of the 3 yesterday in the meal I made. So, I guess there is not one specific condiment that I couldn't live without. I cook Monday through Friday and veg out on the weekends to just build some steam back up to do it all again the next Monday through Friday. So, I am always making something different from the day before so, I pretty much use everything throughout the week. Tough question! Sorry I couldn't be more specific. I guess I might have to say salt.

I love mckormics all-purpose seasoning , it is salt free but when you use salt with it I noticed a little dab will do you. I of course I use salt and pepper and love to use garlic. My new thing is to use Turmeric. A little goes a long way with that stuff. The reason I have been trying to use it is because I read that it helps relieve inflamation. For oil I use EVOO as much as I can.

Turmeric.. let me check that one. Maybe we can make use of it.

Beside my stove, there must be salt, soy sauce and sugar. When come to cooking egg I prefer to use soy sauce as I could get the better taste of egg, especially doing with fried eggs or half boiled eggs. When cooking a bit of salt must be added to make the cooking more palatable. We chinese people in my place tend to favor of adding a little bit of sugar to the cooking to make it taste more delicious.

Yes, that is right. I love chinese noodles. THey are the best. They really add some flavor in it that makes the noodles something!

ok, here are my pet condiments in order of their importance. According to me, a kitchen must comprise them: 1. Salt, as you said. I can't imagine life without salt, but too much of it is believed to cause hypertension, so I use it only for taste. :) 2. Coriander and mint. What is life without these two? 3. Pepper and chillis. Now, I don't like my dishes that hot. But I love that light flavor of pepper and chillis, and by the way, I grow my own chillis and planning to grow pepper too. 4. Ginger and garlic--the kings of the kitchen. Cheers and thanks for this discussion.

Exactly. Salt is very important but have to use it with limitation.. Too much salt is no good for our health. I hope your mom would feel better soon.
