You are having a horrible day. Everything that can possibly go wrong DOES go wrong! And you are really feeling low.
What is the one thing that can perk up your mood and feel that there are good things in life too....that this is just one of those days?

Sunshine on my window, hyacinth in full bloom, anthurium so lovely, my mylot earning is going up..these are a few of my favorite things.
When the internet is down, when the rain comes, when I'm down ..I simply remember my favorite things. and then I don't feel so bad.

That's so true...but doesn't work for everyone, you know. If I cry...I end up crying till I fall asleep (I never cried this way since I was a teenager and frustrated....now after the kids I find myself crying for almost every single thing..it's probably all the hormones) One I have a good sleep, I forget everything and start a fresh new day.
So, sleep works for me.

This is a tough one for me. Being a brooding person, its very difficult for me to outgo it all. I mean, no amount of good things would be enough. However, the gurgling of my nieces and nephew , their playfulness and a lonely day in with lots and lots of body pamperings - like spa and stuff like that might help me to ease out the bitterness. Having said this, it would work only if I am into professional mess. In case of family problems nothing would soothe me except time.

Wow! Tough to please eh?
It takes all that to calm you from a professional mess? Oh yes, kids can surely calm anyone (especially if they are not one's own..lol)
Yes, time does work but it depends on how long it takes.
I had a hard time letting things go too.....but I don't know how...but I can get out of it if I alienate myself from the situation for a while.
I usually go for a walk alone ...brisk walking and NOT think of anything..and I calm down. When I'm really upset, even the kids are no help.
Have you tried meditation or some breathing exercises?

yes, same here. No I haven't tried meditation but it helps, I heard. Someday hopefully I wish I could forget things just like that...

Winter has just seemed extra long this year. Just when we have a string of nice weather, then we get a gloomy run of clouds and chill. It is bad to get a sunburn one day, and have to wear sweatshirts the next.

Hi there SViswan, :))) A smile from my husband, one of my grandchildren throwing their arms around my neck for a big hug, a long soak in the bath tub and sometimes all I need is a few minutes alone with my own thoughts. I don't normally stay in a bad mood long or give in to self pity but it does touch my life when it does its normally my family I turn to for that pick me up, it never fails. hard to stay upset when you have a beautiful smile from one of them.

Hi Sandhiya, yeah there are definitely some days when everything seems to be going against your wishes. The only thing that can bring me back to normal and refresh my strength or you can say recharge my battery is just few words of appreciation instead of criticism......Few words of appreciation has always brought tears to my eyes and in these tears I wash out my depression and start smiling again....
like this....but usually to get words of appreciation when you really need them is really difficult.Have a nice day.

wouldnt it be nice if we were all capable of passing on a few words of appreciation, how sad is it that we are often incapable of offering such things?
blessed be

I find that on days like this when I'm really low a good laugh can take away the blues and actually make me feel better. It's more likely too at times like this that I will be sensitive to my aloneness and wish there was someone to give me some tlc. Laughter is great medicine in lieu of this but sometimes difficult to come by.

You must have known it would be a bad day today for me. Usually watching Sailor Moon would perk me up, but even she won't work today. The only thing that would make me feel better is for everything to be fixed. For my computer to come on, for my money to come in so I can do something for my daughter's birthday tomorrow. Just everything to be right.

lol...you are just like me!! My husband got the chicken pox when my older son was 4...and I kept him close to my husband so that he would catch it and he did!! Another matter that we had to postpone the mummy-son vacation plan we had....but it was all good.
Last month, we thought the younger one got the pox...but turns out it was just heat boils.
I'd rather they get it early and get it over with instead of worrying when they are going to catch it. Apparently the vaccination is a little expensive here and lasts only for 2 years or so.
Btw, how old is your daughter?

Thanks for the well wishes, I do feel a lot better today. But contrary to what you said, everything isn't fine today. My daughter woke up with a case of the chicken pox (oy!) Its a good thing though. She can get it out of the way early on, instead of waiting until she is 14 like I did lol. I'm trying to keep her close to her brother today, so he can get it too!!!

This is an easy one for me ~ MY SON. His giggle or all out bellylaugh melts away all the cares I have in the world. Watching him play freely and without a care, sets the world to spinning right on its axis again.

Usually I can come on here when I am having "one of those days" and there is always someone around who is able and willing to take some time out of their day to make me laugh or get my mind off of my issue or that will sit and listen to be b!tch and moan until I get it out of my system.
But other then here I usually turn to my children for comfort. My sons are very intuitive to when mommy is having a bad day and they are quick to shower me with hugs and kisses and to tell me how much they love me and how beautiful I am.
There is no way I can keep a frown on my face after one of their displays of affection.

Thanks for reminding me...how could I forget mylot as one of my perk-me-up's?
My older son is very intuitive when it comes to me...and he knows when to leave me alone and just the right thing to say and do to lift my spirits...my husband's learning from him..lol
Funny how the very kids who drive you up the wall one day...are the one's to lift your spirits the next!

Sometimes talking with a friend and getting a hug helps. Other times, chocolate helps. And still other times, just taking care of the body, and showering and getting some sleep helps as in the morning things tend to look better.

I've had my share of bad days as a child too....but I didn't know how to handle it without acting out. It's only in the last few years that I've found what what works for me.
Yes, children usually can perk up a person (especially if they are not one's own..lol)

I enjoy a walk in the countryside, being at one with Nature. I also feel good when I can do something to help others, if needed. Children, playing and laughing can also perk me up, and maybe a surprise bouquet of flowers. Even buying myself a bouquet of flowers will brighten my day!
Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Though I'm not a nature person...I love taking walks....I like the physical aspect...and I usually think when I walk and hardly notice things around me.
Children (lol...except my own when they are being brats) can always perk me up...the innocence is one aspect which makes me wonder where along the way did we lose it.

Usually petting my cat or my husband telling me a joke. Everything in life is better with a husband and a cat.

Just two things, SViswan. A warm teasing smile from my husband or a hearty laugh from my son. Even if I'm at the lowest point of my mood, one glimpse from those two will certainly lift up my mood. I'm an optimist at heart but when things really get down on me, it is hard to keep the smile on my face. But as soon as I see one of the two things I mentioned, everything seems to brighten up for me one notch at a time.

Being a parent, I have to say the one thing that really can make me feel better is spending time on the parenting site I am with. I don't feel so alone when I do and can usually find something amusing as well.

The one thing that can always perk me up and lift my spririts is my children smiling at me or saying, those three special words, "I love you." The world does not seem so bad then, if I am having a bad day. 1 person likes this
