Computers get old very fast. Within a few months time, new software or hardware arrive in the market. That would give you the feeling that your computer has already "grown old." The next thing you know, you find yourself in your favorite computer dealer foraging for some cool wares for your computer! So what's the latest in your computer?

Yes, computers do become outdated very rapidly, but that is something that we simply have to accept. I usually try to create a computer that is easily upgraded, which does extend the lifetime quite a bit. My last addition was a pair of SATA drives of 150 Gb each, so I now have 3 hard drives and a decent amount of storage space.

The latest upgrade would be the processor. I recently upgraded my processor form AMD athlon64 X2 4400+ to AMD athlon64 X2 6000+. Mostly since the 4400+ available in my country are all brisbane cores (total of 1MB cache only) while in the AMD website, it should've been 2MB total (2 x 1MB not 2 x 512KB). The 6000+ is the lowest available that has 2MB L2 cache so I upgraded to that. I needed higher L2 cache since I do a lot of multitasking and 1MB cache was simply not enough to cope with all the things I do with my computer.

Well, if you are talking about the PC, I just got a new mouse for it.. lol.. thats not an upgrade I know , but I'm not planning to upgrade it cos i'll be moving out of mu house soon. I jhave a new laptop which I upgraded with a 4 GB RAM as soon as I bought it.. Updating is a very good option instead of doing in for a new computer, cos technology changes every minute.. bourne
