My Yesterday...

Stonehenge - Stonehenge, on Salisbury Plain, in Wiltshire

I decided it's time I got out again, my knee being almost back to normal, so I arranged to take a trip to Salisbury yesterday. I got up and the weather wasn't too bad... the sun was shining but cloud was increasing... nonetheless, I had made myself a promise and booked to make the trek to Salisbury. So, off I went. The bus arrived at Salisbury and being Friday, it was quite busy, so I just ambled about a bit, and took in some of the shops and sights, before we went for lunch. I ate poached salmon with tiger prawns, new potatoes, and fresh veg... very nice. After that, I enjoyed a cup of black coffee, and we set off for Stonehenge. Now, I love Stonehenge, but it was freakin' cold up there on the Marlborough Downs. Dark clouds had gathered and it was quite windy and spotting with rain. So, instead of going into the Stones area, I walked around the perimeter fence. I've never done that before, but the reverent and spiritual feelings I got were amazing. There is so much power up there. Burial mounds surround the Stones, and the Stones themself, although not all still standing, seem to hold many ancient mysteries. It's a truly wonderful experience, even on the perimeter, which incidentally, is not a great distance from the stones themselves. I spent my couple of hours up there, in awe of the majesty and mystery of the site. When I reached a welcome bench, I sat awhile, pondering the lives of the people who erected Stonehenge and how they might have managed such a feat. Then, I pondered my own life, where I am, and where I'm going. I had a wonderful afternoon, in solitary, leaving the others to go onto the site and take their photographs, before getting back onto the coach, and heading back. We went through the Wallops and the Winterbournes of Wiltshire, which are picturesque little communities of thatched cottages, water cress farms, lakes and wildlife. It was all very pleasant. We stopped again, on the way back for a drink and a bite, and I finally arrived home at 9.30 p.m., weary, but at peace with myself. Today, I'm headed off out for a long walk, in the countryside... may even attempt the Downs. It's a beautiful day, and tomorrow's forecast is not too bright, so I have to make the most of it, whilst I can. Do you ever pamper yourself with days out like this?

Emmmmmmm, not too far from Stirling actually! Only about 800 miles! A plane would get you here within the hour though! I've been out again today and will post a discussion about that, shortly. I've uploaded my pics so it's all systems go. It's still a bit wet out by the millponds and in the woods at the moment, but I went up on the Downs, where it's all chalk and porous. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

It sounds like you had a wonderful day Darkwing. How pleasant to walk around such great power source, and feel the energy all around you. I felt the same sort of thing when I went - too many years for me to care to remember! I also went to see the pyramids in Egypt and they were incredibly awe-inspiring. We don't really get a chance to go to places like that so instead we walk along the beach every day. The breeze, sound of the sea, waves crashing along the shore and the birds chirping away, it is something similar! Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us.

Yes, my friend, I had a wonderful day. I've never seen the pyramids for real, but they look gigantic in pictures and on the TV. I agree, the sea's waves bring tremendous energies to the shore. On the south coast, near me, we have pebble beaches and the drag of the waves on the pebbles is awesome. I love water. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your contribution. xxx

I'm not sure whether I have your new e-mail my friend. Perhaps you could send it in IM to make sure? I get those feelings in a lot of places, including churches, cemeteries, ancient burial places, etc. Forgot to put the pic in last time. Try again!

I like all those historical things too. I visited a monastery or friary last year, and loved it. I'll post a pic here for your hubby. Yes, I often think back, and the strange thing is, I can actually envisage those times as if I'm really there, so I really do believe I was here before, and one time, during the Dark Ages. Difficult to explain that, but it's a strong feeling I have. Funnily enough, I wrote an article on Leeds Castle, in Kent, yesterday. If you'd like to have a read, let me know and I'll send it via e-mail. Thank you for your sentiments my friend.. I hope so too, although I weary a little faster these days! Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution. xxxx

Hi Darkwing! That is a wonderful trip you had. I am so glad that you were able to have such moment for yourself. It is such a good feeling to have when you were somehow rejuvenated with all what you have seen and all what you have felt. It is being one with nature when you bask in all nature's wonders. The last time I had that kind of trip was four years ago. I can't remember all the sceneries I have seen but what I remember is the smell of the ocean and fresh air each morning I take my walks and the feeling of calm. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

I love to walk along the seafront and undercliff walk, as well, my friend. As you say, the smell of the ocean, and the lapping of the waves on the beach, is wonderful. Water is very calming, I find, especially moving water. Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xx

Wow that sounded like a really fantastic day, and one that I would have enjoyed too. I have never been to stonehenge but it sounds great. At the moment I have young children so days like that sound like heaven to me, when we go on days out it always seems to be more tiring and stressfull than solitary and quiet!! I do enjoy days out with the kids but I also think that I could enjoy days out like you enjoyed too, just to have some time out like that on my own would be heaven. There are not many chances to escape in our house to be alone!!

Don't wish the kids' lives away my friend... they grow up too quickly as it is, and you'll miss those tiring days out with them, when they've left the nest, just as I did. But, then you'll be able to take your time out and contemplate life and the beauty and significance of Nature, my friend. You have that time to look forward to. Stonehenge is a mysterious, energy filled place, and I love to spend time there, and at many of the megalithic sites here, in the south. Avebury is quite magickal because if you look at the Stones there, they seem to take the form of deities and animals. It's quite an experience. Brightest Blessings my friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

I used to take a bus to the beach and just watch the waves and the surf comein and then recede.I would walk along the sand and look for pretty sea shells and watch the sailboats winding along with sails in lollypop colors and see the speedboats leaving large trails behind them. on a clear day I could see Catalina island and on foggier days I could make out the oil rigs off shore. I always felt so clean and refreshed after a couple of hours breathing sea fresh air.

Oh, you make that sound so wonderful, my friend. I love to walk and sit by the sea too. In fact, when I lived in Brighton, which is a coastal town, I used to sit on the pier, where you could watch not only the activity on the water, but on the shore as well. I could sit for hours taking it all in. There's a pebble beach there as well, where you can hear the pebbles shifting with the waves as they recede. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your descriptive contribution. xx

i'm glad that your knee is alright and you can have a good time to pamper yourself on a beautiful day... i wish that you can do this more often if your knee allowed you to do that... i also pamper myself once in a while when the weather is beautiful and when i have extra money to spend... i haven't do that for a quite a long time now though... have to start thinking of pampering myself again... :-)

Yes, you will, my friend. It's quite a satisfying thing to do. I got myself a bit lost and it's all a part of the "healing" process. Now the decent weather's here, I shall be going out a lot more... my knee needs strengthening up again as I haven't been walking too far from home. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your contribution. x

It certainly helps, Deeeky. My freedom to be at one with Nature and to be able to find my inner Self is important to me. I hate being indoors all the time, especially when the weather's good. Also, I need to re-strengthen my knee after about three months of struggle. It's feeling so much better now, so there's no reason why I can't get it back to strength. Yesterday was another test, but more on that later. Today, I'm relaxing with my son and his family, as usual. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my dear friend. x

I'm sure we've had discussions in the past about Stonehenge, I was there just over a year ago now, it was my third or fourth visit to the site and it never fails to leave me awe inspired. It's a pity they didn't take you up to the old site of Salisbury Cathedral, it's not too far from the stones, but the view is spectacular and you're able to see all over the plains and to the 'new' Salisbury cathedral, well worth the visit if you're in the area again! I love to go out to old and ancient places, one of my favourites being Dartmoor. It's good for the soul to treat yourself to a day out such as this! Brightest Blessings!

Yes, we have, when I wrote about Megalithic and Neolithic sites, my friend. I want to go to Dartmoor badly. My close friend visits Torquay and Exeter almost every June, and spends quite a bit of time up there. He's promised to take me down there sometime, but I don't think it will be this year. Not sure how he's fixed for going away, as he had an op recently, and extra time off work. I went up once, in a car, but it was beginning to get dark, so it was up, and straight back down, without getting out. The strangest thing happened on the way down though, which I'll never forget. Maybe that's what draws me back... I don't know. I've been to Exmoor many a time... the top of Summer Hill is one of my favourite "escapes". It's so quiet up there, and as high as Lynton, if not higher. Quite a climb but a good place for finding your inner Self. I'm looking at visiting Hever Castle sometime this year, for a jousting tournament, and also, will possibly be going back to Glastonbury, very soon. Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution, my friend. xx

I've only been to Stone Henge once it is an amazing place with many fascinating aspects to it. I like the examples stones the monuments are made from they have out in the car park you can touch and feel that one is warmer than the other no matter what the weather and no one knows why. I'd love to go there on the solstice when they let people go right up to the stones as it's not the same standing so far away from them. Though I do understand why it has to be that way as so many of the stones are gone or have been damaged over the years.

It's not a bad journey from the Isle of Wight, I wouldn't think, but you have your own heritage there as well, my friend. True, what you say about the sample stones, and if you ever manage to get close enough to touch the standing Stones, then you will feel much more... that's a promise. I think you can get into the area whatever celebration but certainly, both solstices, from ten, on the eve until nine o'clock the following morning. Quite a magickal feeling, especially in the dark of night. Yes, it's understandable that they fence the area off, but what I don't really understand is why the cordon is so far from the Stones. It could have been made a lot closer, to my mind, but then, I suppose it wouldn't avail the number of visitors they get, to the view. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. I hope you get to walk in and touch the Stones someday. There is a lot of energy in them. xx

I can't remember the last time I was able to have a day out like that but I love to share yours with you! I have never been to Stonehenge but I marvel at the ability of the people who built it without the benefits of all the modern machinery! It sounds like a very good but tiring day and one which will live on in your memory for a long time! I am glad that you are feeling well enough to enjoy such outings now! Hugs xxx

Yes, even more amazing when you actually see the enormity of the Stones and realise that they go some four feet under the ground. To imagine that the they were moved from Wales, all the way to Salisbury Plain, leaves one in awe of the capabilities of the Ancients. As it happens, I didn't find it at all tiring, my friend. I felt more refreshed than anything. Yes, it's good to be able to get around a bit again, and I hope that you'll soon be in the same position. How is your treatment going? Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your contribution. xxx

Photo from a sign in my sancturary - This hands above my alter in my sanctuary in the uppermost level of our house. It is where I go for solitude, prayer, reflection and pamper time.
I love your style of writing and the way you 'show' rather than 'tell' your stories and experiences. Your day sounds very spiritually expansive and visiting Stonehenge is a dream of mine...and then maybe we could meet in person as well...and take some time to look at the stars in a caravan. Ah yes!Do I pamper myself with days like this? Yes, I always have and always will. We live in a gorgeous, hilly rural area. I often take my camera and light snacks and go out in nature to see what I can see, experience and capture with my lens. Tomorrow I am pampering myself with a day of silence, prayer, meditation, hot Epsom salt soak in our bubble jet tub. Afterwards I am going to meditate in the sanctuary, use my Runes and other oracles and have a special day with my spirit, spiritual allies...and me. Self-care is crucial in today's fast pace outer world...when I do not do it on a regular basis I feel my energy field shrinking. The best way I know to expand it and nourish my life force batteries is quiet "me-time." Highly recommended in whatever form a person does it. Good discussion...and great to be back chatting with you and others here. I miss it when I am unable to participate in this great community of ours. Signing off shortly..hope you sleep as well as I intend to. Warm and loving regards to you. Raia

Well done, you! I'm convinced that medical intervention is not always a good thing and try to avoid visiting my doctor as much as possible. Where there's an alternative cure, I feel it's the best way to go. After all, most medicines are evolved from herbal remedies, anyway. As long as you know what you're doing with herbs and alternatives, I find it the better way to go. It was acupuncture that cured the problems which resulted from my RSI. I just never got around to sending you details of the other experience I had, and in the end, it slipped my mind, completely, with everything else that is going on. I'll try to sort that out, as it's been sort of put to the back of my mind, just lately. Brightest Blessings. xx

Well, thank you, my dear friend and soul sister. I guess it just comes from writing what's in my heart and soul. It doesn't seem to be a difficult task for me, but you are my equal at least, when it comes to writing. There is a whole group of people who would love to come to Stonehenge and meet up, so perhaps we ought to arrange one big exodus from the States, to Stonehenge. I'd be happy to meet up with you all, and spend some days or even weeks in that part of the country with you all. It's not so far away really... a couple of hours. Yes, it is great to take time out for oneself every so often, to charge up one's batteries, so to speak. I'm a bit lost at the moment and finding a need to seek resolve. Strengthening my leg is of the essence too... I've sat around for far too long. The caravan sounds a great idea, my friend, and holidays are available whereby you can trot around the country lanes in one. Sounds like heaven to me! Thank you for your contribution my friend, and Brightest Blessings, always. xx

Hello again.. Always a joy to share with you too...and thanks for your comments about my writing...I don't think we'd be bragging if we said...takes one...to know one. Famous baseball player Dizzy Dean said..."It isn't bragging...when you do it." I always like that and often remind clients we struggle with owning what they do. Anyway, on to the topic. When I hear about your plans to become more active after taking down time to heal your knee...I am in the same place. I have injured both my knees with the very active life I normally lead. Hiking, rock wall climbing, biking, and thousands of hours digging and cultivating our many gardens with pitch fork and lots of compression on the knee caps. When I re-injured my right knee a couple of years ago and then the left one this year I have been the most inactive I have ever been. Thankfully David was willing to pick up the slack and I stayed on my hiney and worked on my writing and developing content for the web-page and doing some photojournalism work. Like you I have been feeling out of shape and yet help is on the way! The first specialist wanted to operate on my knees and of course with my focus of proactive health I refused and went the natural route. Physiotherapy, acupuncture, lots of rest and the supplements GLH/MSM and Chondriton. About a month ago I saw a knee specialist who took forms of my knees and tomorrow I am going to pick up my spiffy new braces that will take the pressure off the knees and realign them so I can walk and walk and walk some more without adding any friction to the knees. I chose a bright yellow with black and I am calling them my bumble bee knee braces. As I am sure you are aware scientists say that bumble bees are not aerodynamically designed to fly with their big bodies and short wings...and yet they do. The fact that I have been able to ward off surgery and bring my knees back to where they are with Spirit's assistance...and my whole person healing practices is why I chose the colors I did. I am also back to doing yoga daily. I used to be a fitness leader at a gym and know how to set up my own cross training program...and from yesterday forward I made the firm intention to align my biology with the highest frequencies possible and make it as strong, flexible and strong as my inner self is. I am ready to have my outer reflect my inner in ways that will allow me to stay youthful and strong as the years go by. Youthing versus aging is a course David and I developed...time to get off my butt and get moving. You and I are great examples that we are only young once..but we can be kids forever!!!! So as I strut around with my BB Braces it is yet another way to show that 'miracles are simple something people haven't seen yet.' I might post a discussion about it...if not I will send you a photo. I am still confused about what you requested of me that I didn't receive. Do you want to resend it? As I said in my other reply I am always interested in you and what you are doing. We are kindred spirits. I love the idea of a group gathering at Stonehenge...how absolutely amazing that would be. If you ever travel to Manitoba...Southwestern area...there is guest room awaiting. Lets hold those thoughts and do our best to manifest them! We are off to Winnipeg tomorrow to pick up those braces...and will check back on Wednesday...or tomorrow evening if we aren't back too late. Raia

I've only been to Glastonbury once, and I felt connected. Something... a spirit, or a deity... I don't know what, entered me whilst I sat on a bench. All I was really aware of was a robin about an inch from my foot. He was talking to me all the while, and he wasn't afraid. I meant to look up the robin and see its powers. Will do that now, I think. Anyway, something entered via my power hand, and I felt it go up my arm and then down inside me. This will sound weird or frightening to others, but I spent the rest of my time in the Chalice Gardens, almost in a trance... especially when I sat in the shelter above the Well. I have to go back... I feel the call. When it will be, I'm not sure but since that visit, I've changed as a person. It's difficult to explain how, but I feel different. I'm going to go check out the robin now, and will let you know what I find. Brightest Blessings my dear friend and thank you for your contribution. You reminded me of a very special moment just then. xxx

Yes, I agree. I only wish I could get there more often. I know the robin was there for a purpose, as it sat by my feet for a good ten minutes, and I noticed that, even though I wasn't really with it... it was only when another woman came along the ridge, that it hopped up onto a branch, as though it didn't appreciate the intrusion. xx

WOW! that is awe inspiring-but it doesn't surprise me about you, being a very spiritual person the way the robin' appeared to you is justification of your progress also maybe he is your totem. I feel the calling to go back to Glastonbury too very much am not sure when myself when but wil definitley be going-the Chalice Gardens is a fantastic place to go I have been many times and come away with so much energy, peace and happiness going there to me is a cleansing time-bright blessings littleowl

I will have to wait until we go on our Florida trip. Right now I am busy on myLot, novel writing, and singing to do too much having fun. That seeing Stonehenge seems very interesting. It is amazing how people think that the ancients were no more than savages, yet it must have taken a lot of work to move the stones over long distances, construct the columns, to get them into the right shape, and to see how to make the view advantageous. I wonder who made it. No, not the architect's name. I know it was before the Celtic invasion, but where the people small and dark, tall and dark, looked like Italians, looked like Irish, etc. It would be interesting and I bet the countryside was beautiful!

I live surrounded by natural beauty, but little of historical interest. My days out are spent with my camera, walking and wandering and capturing with my lens whatever catches my eye. I've gotten some of my best pics this way. I seldom have an agenda, I just move in the direction the wind is pushing me. lol I have every intention of moving to England when my divorce and house sale are final, and it's the Salisbury area I am most drawn to. Perhaps I'll meet you there one day on one of your outings and we can share impressions over the welcome bench. That would be lovely I think.

Wow... yes that would be lovely! There are lots of other ancient sites around the area too, like Silbury Hill, Avebury Stone Circle and West Kennett Longbarrow. None is quite as powerful as Stonehenge, but all worth a visit, even to refresh the spiritual being in you. Also, it's not far to the West Country or Berkshire from there, where you will find many other ancient and historical sites. It's not a bad thing to listen to the spirit voices on the wind, my friend. You'll always end up where you're meant to go. I love to take lots of pictures too. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. xx
