Today I'm hear the CD by The Platters. Many times I like to hear the oldies. Do you know these singers? What you think?

One of the great groups of their era, and I was a teenager grwoing up when they were popular. The Great Pretender, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Only You, and Twilight Time were some of my favourites of theirs. Those were the days, when the Top 40 would have The Platters side by side with Elvis, or the Brothers Four, or Harry Belafonte, or Frank Sinatra, or Johnny Ray, or Little Richard lol - I could go on. I love all these too. I love the old music even so it isn't from my time. I like Al Johnson and Bing Crosby can you believe that? but is truth. Thanks for your response.

Yes, I used to listen to them a lot when I was a kid. Thank you for bringing them up as I haven't heard them for a long while. I may just have to go download some of their stuff.

Only You by The Platters was remade by a Filipino singer named Sam Milby. But I miss the doo-woop group there. I've listened to the (You've Got) The Magic Touch, Harbor Lights, My Prayer and Some Gets In Your Eyes...Wow!

yeah i know about them. they had a concert in our city here in the philippines and our company was the organizer in the local tour. but only the guys were original members. the girl was a new addition at that time., i think they are a great group. i like oldies music, although i am quite young. good day!

Hi Teka. Yes, I know The Platters. I like their songs very much. I have a collection of CD's of their songs, and I listen to them often. Enjoy listening to The Platters !

I adore the Platters, and I was just playing that CD this morning. They have such a beautiful sound. I could do without "Harbor Lights," but other than that I absolutely love all of their songs. I think "Twilight Time" is my favorite, but it's difficult to pick; they're all so good! "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is amazing, too, and "Red Sails in the Sunset" is really catchy.
