I am so upset! My milkman retired after over 30 years of delivering to my area! His father was the milkman around here and his father before him! He delivered milk, cottage cheese, cheese, eggs, bacon, butter, yogurt, sour cream, ice cream......you name it - dairy - he brought it! He would come every Friday. Now, I have to remember to buy these things at the grocery store when I go! It is the end of an era! The local newspaper photographer rode with him the entire day, his last day on the job and it was quite emotional for him and all of his customers. One elderly lady had been a customer since the 50's! How about you out there, do you have a milkman? Do you even remember a milkman?

That's a long time, I haven't had a milk man diliver to my house since I was a young lad living with my parents. I had no idea they were still around. It's nice that he will be remembered in such a way.

I had a milkman for one year, as only lived in the city one year while in college. I lived with a family. It was wonderful, as the family had a child and we would sit with a dish of ice cream when I came home from college. The parents could have some time alone while we talked about the day. I sure miss those days.

Wow. THey don't have milkmen in CA - at least for the last 32 years I've been here. I do remember when I was little, he'd leave the bottles on the doorstep. quart size I Believe. But mom didn't do much with a milkman - 4 kids on milk, she always bought the 1/2 cartons! But, wow - this guy should have been on Food Network Unwrapped show - where they tell the history of foods. They have one about the "oldest" ice cream man - Good Humor I believe he was - still driving the same route since the 50's and he hadn't retired as of that show but these days with the high gas, might have been forced to now.
