As we all are VERY aware of there has been many postings about star ratings and other negativity on this site. Recently my ratings took a huge plummet until I was warned by a friend about someone I had added. This member had LOADS of friends, but no posts. I deleted this person off of my friends list. Within one day, my star stopped dropping. In fact, today I woke up to find that I had gained two star ratings. I went from a silver 7 to a red 9. Interesting. Well a few minutes ago, I received a friends request from a brand new member. When I went to check out their profile, guess who was their one and only friend? You got it! The person with loads of friends and only 1 post. Interesting x 2. This person also had no posts and only 1 friend and I just have to wonder where they got my name from, being as they had never responded to anything I had posted. Interesting x 3. It may all be a bunch of apples and oranges and one thing may not have diddly squat to do with another, but I thought it was interesting to the nth degree! Thought I'd share.

kbourgerie I am wonderingnow if Ihave added someone as friend and sheor he has had something to do with my star falling. I have not really checked on these people and some I have noticed have posted very few things. Its so hard for me to tell as I am still quite new here. After that tag was put on my accentuate the positive discussion I have become only too aware that someone really has it in for me. the thought that that person could be in my friends list is really scary. I am still at a six even though mylot did tell me finally that they were looking into the situation. nothing is changing.

Well I wonder if that Person is in mine to but I don't think so
I do remember someone requesting who only had the one post and lots of Friends but I denied the Person and I did get another one asking and I denied that one to and he only had the one Friend to

Thanks Gabs. The person to whom I referred had no posts at the time and yet had 1500 friends. Interesting to say the least.

Wow, that is interesting. Lately, I've been real picky about who I accept as a friend. I like someone to have some kind of history on this site, so I always look at their profile and see how many discussions they have started or participated in. I only have one friend that is like you described and I don't think he's the one because I think I'm his only friend here. But, I'm glad I haven't been accepting everyone if that is, indeed, what is going on here.

One thing may not have anything to do with the other. I'm really not sure, but I would just caution everyone to check out someone's profile before adding them.

you know sometimes people just want to do some things just to break others,i wonder how this guy with only one post have 1500 friends,could he have been out just to discredit people?well i wish i know who it was but really i dont give negative ratings to people i will rather ignore your post

I remember the first person as I also got a friend request from him/her...something seemed fishy to me though so I denied it. Thanks for the warning, this 'second' user sounds just as fishy. It all sounds...well this is one of those things that the odder it sounds the more it makes sense so I don't think it's just a coincidence.

Hello kbourgerie, I do not know exactly what the star rating is about. I do not have many friends on mylot yet and I have just recently cleared my 100th post. I have a hard time coming up with ideas I believe are interesting enough
to start a discussion with and spend most of my time responding to others. That
said I have responded to maybe 2 people about how mean or harsh they are as
people on mylot during my time here. I can't even remember who they were. One
day a while back I noticed I had a red star with the #9...I'm not sure why or what it means but being me I am taking it as a good sign. I too have recieved a friends request recently from someone with only 1 post at the time. I accepted
and noticed this person has posted a couple times since so this cannot be the person you are refering to. But I don't understand why the star rating would drop or rise because of the friends on your list. If you have any ideas please feel free to let me in on them. Thanks...Mamablaze!!

The friends on your list answer to your posts and rate you positively or negatively. The more they rate negatively, the lower your rating drops. And by the way you do have the person on your friends list.

Aha! That makes sense to me now. I have checked my friends list and see who it is you are talking about. I did not know that was how the ratings system worked. Thanks for the heads up totally appreciated.My friends list is not very large and this person was the 2nd ever to request my friendship. I was wondering about their extensive list of friends with only one post on their list at the time but figured I would give them a go cause they were new. I have yet to respond to any of their 3 posts as I had no input to what they were asking. I will keep an eye on how things go from here and see how my ratings fair with my new friend on the list.

Thats why. Can you please PM me the name of the person so I can be more careful if the person ask me as a friend? Or maybe the person already does???? I dont want my star rating go down just because of people dont post here.

Well yes hercule this person being spoken of is on your list as well as they are on mine. Just have to either keep an eye on your ratings or delete them. It is a sad thing to have to worry about I come here to make friends and enjoy myself...Mamablaze!!

Mine also has dropeed... I bet I have the same person. Maybe if we all turn them in we will get something stopped... this is not right... Mine started dropping when I added a few people the other day!

Thanks for this warning. I proberly need to go through my friends list again to see who all is activwe and inactive. My number has stayed the same so I proberly shouldn't worry to much. I don't understand why some people rate negitive on others. It's very childish to me.

that is interesting. but if you check out the people with the most referrals a lot of them don't post. i don't know that person could have been one of them. like you said apples and oranges. glad to see you star is going up

I guess I shouldn't be too happy about it, because tomorrow it will probably go back down, but in the meantime it gave everyone something to think about.

I have been hearing very similar things lately. I haven't really had my star rating drop recently, but once in the past, I had a problem with it dropping suddenly and it has never really recovered. It seems strange how it can drop so drastically all at once, but then it never goes back up, which seems very suspicious. Just this afternoon, I checked my friend list and decided to go ahead and delete a few people who had been on my friend list for a really long time but had only a couple of posts. I am not sure if those people are the problem for me or not, but I guess I will just wait and see if it affects my star rating now! It is really sad that some people have nothing better to do than try to mess up other people's ratings! If they spent the time they waste doing that to make their own posts, then they'd probably have quite a bit of money built up by now! Anyway, thanks for sharing that warning--I will start being more careful now! :)

Thats all I was saying and that is just to be weary of who you add as friends. Perhaps be more discerning in checking out their profiles before just hitting the "accept" button. Just a thought.

I don't know who you talking about but I went through my friends and found one that had tones of friends but one post, my rating was down to yellow and now back up to red, it is a shame when people have nothing more to do than to ruin things for others on here. But they seem to be in all the sites, Yahoo has a game room where the vulgar language and the threats are horrible, they are not there to play crds just to make it so the others can't play. These must be people with me-risible lives and no friends.

i play on a game site where I see in one room there is one person that insults everyone in there, he says horrible things and the people just sit there and let him, if you go there in the morning they are there, same as in the evening, I wonder what it is in their lives is that the only way they can get someone to talk to them, is it better to be insulted than not have anyone to talk to

It is so hard to say what has caused these sudden ratings drops, I myself suffered a massive drop in star, going from a 10 - 7 overnight and then yet going from a 7 back to a 9 also overnight.
I also had a ruck of points go missing too just before the drop, as well as an adjustment of earnings around the same time, so it is either down to people doing it or it could be that it has come from myLot doing a big cleanout.

Co-in-ki-dink?? I think not. This might explain why I am so picky about adding my friends. If I see they only add people to promote their money making site or just to add friends to have friends .. I will usually decline. If I see the person has requested me out of the blue (never has responded to post I responded to or post myself) I will decline

I'm so sorry to go off topic like this, but I just read your reply, dizzblnd. I'm sitting here laughing to myself because just moments ago I wrote a response to someone's discussion and used the word/spelling co-inky-dink. That's something I've done forever and I sure thought I was the only person who did this. LOL
On topic though, I never even put any thought into accepting or denying people as friends. I don't have scads yet, but I'm definitely going to make a point to be careful when the requests do come in from now on.

Thats exactly the kind of thing that makes me nervous. Those that request your friendship, but have never answered to any of your discussions. Where did they get our names in the first place. Makes you wonder.

i must say you did a very good thing by telling this to us. congrats i see yours star incraeses 2 points. but i am losing on further.

No the star rating does not affect your earnings.
I actually complained to "Crash" (mylot moderator) that my star rating had been stuck on 8 for over 12 months... and he replied that a constant 8 was very good.

I'll be honest and tell you I really don't know. I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find the answer to that. Sorry, you may want to write the mylot admin for an answer or perhaps someone will see this and educate us both.
