As a person i love cooking all by myself..though i feel great if my wife helps me with cutting vegetables etc..i hardly cook twice or thrice a week..and everytime i make sure i help my wife when she cooks..it feels great when theres someone with u inside the kitchen so that u can talk, work and do a little bit of romance(lol..may be a kiss or two??) all together..what do say folks..

Sometimes I like help, but most of the time I just prefer to do it alone. We have a tiny kitchen, and theres not alot of room to move around. And it can be relaxing when I am doing by myself.

I prefer cooking by myself mostly, I don't mind help on occasion, especially around the holidays, but overall....cooking is like an artform to me, I'm a writer among other things so everything I consider art, while I encourage input..I rather prefer to be alone in order to create.

lol .. i believe in this one "if u do occasional help u will be appreciated...but if u do it regularly it will become ur chore for the day to finish!! ;)"

lol it's true too, at least in my case...eventually I'd get so annoyed I'd be like: "Well if you want to help so much why don't you do the cooking yourself!" _ and I'd prolly not do any cooking for awhile after that, haha.

Hi Venkat, Both we can do. I have done both ways. But I never let my husband in to the kitchen, he'll spoil the broth literally. Actually he is catering diploma holder but only namesake. Hasn't cooked anything for me all these years. I can cook in the kitchen with someone to help me, but the cooking will be very slow. But if I am alone I finish off very early anbd cook properly too. If there is someone chatting with you in the kitchen, attention is lost now and then, you might miss out something. So I feel it is better to have someone for cuttuing and everything, after finishing all that pack them off and start cooking by myself. But strictly no Romance in the kitchen for me.

Oh...ok..May be thats how many indian moms cook..lol..Even my mom will literally chase us out of the kitchen when she makes something..but then,i started to love kitchen and cooking only after my wife came into my life..that too after coming to the UK..also i did some modification in my house in chennai..made kitchen a little modern and added look+feel good factor...haha.. and i definitely think a light romance adds up to the spices in kitchen..which u cant do if u ever have kids trotting around..lol..

All I can say is that I really wanna know how to cook so that I could cook for my family and my friends and impress them. I know it takes a lot of time learning stuffs like that because I have tried indulging in those kind of activities, and so far the only recipes that I know how to cook eventhough it is kinda embarassing is that those foods that doesn't need so much time to cook. But I am really interested because someday I am planning to know how to learn to cook. I can't say right now because I am really in doing some crazy nonsense stuffs and my schedules are hectic... hahaha LOL!!! ^_^

I live by myself, so I do all the cooking by myself, too. But, even when someone is there, I don't mind if they help. But, my kitchen is very small and they would get in the way. Mostly, I would think it was nice that they do the dishes because I really like to do the cooking. But, it really is nice to have someone with you to talk to while you are working.

My husband used to help me...I called him my "sous chef" :) Usually these days I just cook by myself...sometimes it's easier that way but sometimes I'd like a little assistance or at least someone to keep me company. My husband does help clean up afterwards though so that's nice.

I would love to work along side of someone in the kitchen, provided that person is confident enough to be comfortable doing what has to be done. My mother and father worked great together in the kitchen - side by side... they canned together, processed together, chopped together and prepared wonderful meals together in the kitchen. that is the way I grew up and the way I thought it was supposed to be. I imagine if I had lots of sisters we would all work so well making pies and other delights in the kitchen together... that would bring lots of happy memories. my husband and I do not work well together in the kitchen, I am afraid... he is not confident enough and is always asking me what do I do, where do I go, how do I do it.. do you want, would you like? it is distracting me from the task at hand.

It actually annoys me when people try to help me cook unless it's something like cutting up onions or cutting something to help me. Most of the time when I am cooking I want the kitchen all to myself. It annoys me when people get in my way, especially if I am trying to get the stuff ready. So I prefer to be alone in the kitchen while I am cooking. The only time I really want help is if it is a really big dish or to cut something if it needs to be in little bitty pieces.

If i am confident to the dish that i cook.. better to be alone in the kitchen..I will be more at ease. But if i like to learn something new recipes then that time i should need someone to help me..

i love to cook, but sometimes it gets lonely. it feels great when you have someone in the kitchen with you. he doesn't even have to be helping, just being there helps a lot. i usually try to get my bf into the kitchen with me just to talk while i cook for him. i prefer to do everything myself as it's much simpler and faster. however, it's a different case for my bf. he likes me to help out when he is cooking. just cutting a veg or defrosting the meat. it all works, as long as i contribute some efforts. :D
