This morning, I woke up and was startled to see that my cat, that I've had for the past 6-7 years, was shaking in the corner. He couldn't even stand up, and his eyes were shaking around in his head. I was so scared, and immedietly called the vet. Well, they told me it was better to put him to sleep, so that's what I did today. It was very hard, and I'm still shaken up over it, because it's the first pet that I've ever had to put to sleep. I mean, I used to be a veterinary assistant, and I used to have to put animals to sleep all the time, but it's far worse when it is your own pet. I'm going to miss him dearly, and just typing this out is making me cry all over again. I hope I gave him a good life.

I am so sorry for your loss, I know its so hard, I lost my German shepherd about a year and a half ago. She was my best friend, I was alone with my daughter, My now ex husband was in korea for a year. I didn't know anyone else so she really was my best friend. when it happened it was very sudden and I still miss her. I am really bad at comparing mine and my boyfriends dog, shes a good dog but theres always that one really special one in your life.

Oh Jenni I am so sorry to hear that. Did the vet say what was wrong with him? I am sure you gave him a good life. Animals know when they are loved and they give so much love back to us. God Bless Baldwin and you

My heart goes out to you. I know how much it hurts to lose a pet. Feel comforted knowing that you gave him all your love and that you were with him to comfort him in his last moment.

I;m sorry. I know what it is to love & then lose a beloved pet. Only another pet lover can know how it grieves us. Rest easy, as Baldwin is now alive in Paradise. Bible says so. Don't even =think= you didn't give him a good life; he was obviously loved! Peace. Maggiepie

I'm so sorry for your loss Jenni. People that have no pets can't understand why we grieve so for a lost pet, and then think we are nuts when we tell them that our pets are just like our children. Although, unlike children, a pet gives its heart and loyalty unconditionally. Jenni, there is NO doubt in my mind that Baldwin had Heaven on earth during his short life with you. May God bless you and yours, always. Ed

I'm so sorry for your loss. I still feel that the best way to lose a pet is for it to go away and not come back. For a while you keep thinking it will come back, until one day you realize it's not coming back. When you have to take it to the vet to be put down that's hard too, because you always wonder "Did I make the right decision?". I will say that it's worst of all when you see it deceased. That's the hardest, and I know this first-hand. Again, I'm sorry for your loss. As corny as the saying is "this too sha'll pass."

aw i'm so sorry to hear about that. he must be really in pain. sounds like nerve damage to me. guess there's nothing you can do except relief him from this pain. sigh, when we lost our loved one it's always difficult to accept. i lost a cat to an accident before and i'm still missing him. that was 7 years ago and i'm still hoping that he'll come back to me. take care of yourself and give your love to another cat. i'm sure your cat will be glad that you've got companion.

Jenni, I'm terribly sorry to hear about you losing your friend. Whatever people who don't keep pets say, losing an animal who's been with you for a while and shared your life is a really loss. I'm sure Baldwin is looking down from wherever cats go and wishing you well.

OMG, Jenni. That's awful!! I'm so sorry for you. Did your vet say what he thought the problem was? It wasn't treatable? I know it must hurt terribly. Consider yourself hugged!

Oh Jenni i hope you are starting to feel a bit better, you must be feeling very sad at the moment .But as you say you gave him a good life and at the end you did the right thing. Its someting that most of us have to deal with ,but most of us dread,As for being a vetinary assistant I understand ,but you were seeing other peoples pets put to sleep and not your own,and there is such a very big difference. But just be pleased that he had a good, happy life Jenni.Take care x

hello jenni7202, sorry to hear about baldwin, i have lost a lot of pet in the past and it is always never easy. i have never experienced putting a pet down though so it must be very very hard watching them leave but at least they dont have to suffer anymore. i know it is hard to see a pet be put down and more if its yours. im sure you can tell if baldwin have a good life or not, the fact that he have a good home and a loving owner makes it perfect for him unlike other pets. i wish you all the best and hope the pain will go away some time soon. just think of the wonderful times you guys have, cats are always playful so its easy to have those happy memories. i hope i am not making you more sad, so i better end this now. takecare

I'm so very sorry to hear this. It sounds like your cat had a seizure :(. I'm sure you gave your cat the best care he could ever hope for, and I guess it was just his time to leave. It is really hard to lose one you love, I would be devastated when my cat Shaw leaves me.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had to put down my rabbit in the past. It broke it's back. We had to put it down. I was 10 at the time. I'm sure you gave Baldwin a good life. I wish you luck in your journeys without him.
