I finally did something today that I have been wanting to do for quite sometime. I enrolled in college so that I can finish getting my degree. I am sooo excited! My classes officially start on May 14th. I had no idea I would be taking such a giant step when I awoke this morning, but I'm very happy that I did. My admissions advisor walked me through the whole process over the phone and it was easy signing up online. I hope that all of my friends will wish me luck and pray that I will be able to stay focused on my goal. Have you ever wanted to do something and kept finding excuses to put it off? I hope this will inspire some of you to follow your dreams.

That is WONDERFUL news worldwise - good on you for taking that step and getting out there and finishing your degree. Reading your post has motivated me somewhat to get out there and start doing more for myself and getting active again too. I stopped exercising when winter came along and now that it's warming up, I'm going to start back up again. HMM I may even pick up a few courses so I can look at getting a full time job in the Summer - thanks :) Keep us updated will you? :)

I am so very proud of you and of course I wish you luck and pray you find the strenght and focus to do well - which I am very positive you will! How long do you think it will take to get your degree and what is it in? I always wanted to go on and become a teacher but unfortunately i know I will never be able to do this - my back will never be strong enough for me to work with 5-8 year olds which is what I always wanted to do in teaching! I would like to study something though - when I have the energy and focus to! xxx

That sounds great worldwise honey - I wish you luck although I know you don't need luck, you will do great! I am not ruling it out altogether I just know it will be a while before I have the energy and concentration to study anything - I need to decide what before I do anything about it! xxx

My field will be Communications, mummymo, and I don't foresee my having any problems with it since I took classes years ago. You shouldn't count yourself out because with all of the online instructors they have now, who knows what will be possible in the near future? It will take me 2 years to complete my studies and earn my Associates Degree.

That is excellent for you well done, I bet you are really pleased with yourself, I would be. I guess that I would like to go back to college and maybe do some more studying, although I have not got a clue what I would want to study, there is so much choice out there these days. I have a lot of experience of typing just lately and I passed an exam at it while in college years ago so maybe I could go along those lines!! I really do wish you luck, but I reckon you will do fine and I am sure that you will stay focused on your goal, you will have to anyway because you do not want to have to come back here and tell us you gave up or something after the first day!! Yes you have given me some inspiration, I am always making excuses up and putting things off, I am terrible, I use the excuse that I am too busy or I am not clever or good enough.

Hon, that is wonderful that you are going back to school. I am so happy for you, I will be here in your cheering section all the way through. I put off learning to drive, well I never had the money for courses and now it is too late, my eyes are not good enough and I still do not have money. But I went to university at 37 years old and got a bachelors, and a masters.

i soo admire you for your decision to goo back to school. i myself am considering taking up masters degree this coming school year. that's just like going back to school after six years. i am currently employed right now so it might be a little hard to manage time. im also really hopeful that i can cope with fellow students who are full time in their studies.

Congratulations on going back to school! Remember that education is one of the best investments for yourself. It will greatly impact your future. Do your best in everything that you do. Study your lessons in advance. Do not cram or be a mediocre. Have fun! Try to meet new friends. Take the time to visit the library and read helpful books. Good luck! My classes will start on May 26. Wish me luck as well. I will be taking my majors.

I will be taking my classes online, drumbum, but it is still very exciting! I am a person who is not afraid to study, so I'll have no problem with that. I wish you much luck in your search for knowledge as well.

Congratulations on going back to school! I actually did the same thing today. I have already graduated from college, but have been putting off getting my MBA for quite some time. The main reason I kept putting it off is because I already have the job that I went to school for(a fashion buyer), and I didn't think that I needed more school. I've since decided that to keep up with everything that is going on in the business and fashion world, I need to get my MBA. What are you going back to school for? Are you going to try and work and go to school at the same time? Also, I have a tip for you that worked for me. I thought about something that I really wanted that I would be able to afford once I graduated(or if thats too long, something you can do after this semester is over). I taped a picture of a Jeep Wrangler and a picture of a beach in Aruba in the dash in my car. Both of those gave me motivation to finish school, and work at the same time so I could afford them. Pick something that means something to you, and post it somewhere where you see it every day(or multiple times per day). Congratulations again!

Thank you so much, Adelida! I am only going for my associates in Communications, but it should enhance my writing skills which is what I would like to achieve. I am not in the work force(and don't plan to be), so this is just something I wish to do for my personal improvement.

Congrats! That's really great that you decided to pursue what you really want in life. I'll also be going back to school to get my second degree. I'm studying to become a nurse this time. My officemates were telling me I'm crazy to give up my present position as the salary is above-average. But I don't want to be sitting at a desk, working on reports for the rest of my life. And I always wanted to be a nurse. Good thing my family supports my decision. There are many of us out there who are going back to school to follow our dreams. I'm sure you'll inspire another person to follow their bliss.

I just recently read that older students are more focused and listen more intently to the professors. Maybe because we value our education so much more. I went back a few years ago and while I didn't get to finish the degree, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and when things settle down, I may go again. I wish you great success and I'm sure you will achieve it.

How wonderful for you! It is never too late and learning is a lifelong process...Greater still if you enjoy it!! I too will be returning for my Bachelor in Social Service,I received my Associate degree in May of 07, I loved every minute of my part time attendance at our local community college...And I will never forget my graduation! It's almost like a different world...the kids all treated me as part of their group, it was great...kept me young, still does!! (am 55) :-) I am sure you will accomplish your goals because you my dear are following your dreams!! Blessings and good wishes ~G~
