We Need a New Coffee Maker

Our coffee maker is dying. We just had a cold cup of coffee. The water never heated up as it made its way to the grounds. When it hit the pot, it was stone cold. I didn't notice it until my hubby took a sip of his coffee and proclaimed that it was cold. This coffee maker has lasted the longest of all the coffee makers we have owned. It was from Gevalia and we received it from one of their promos. It lasted 3 years. Most of the coffee makers we had only lasted 6 months. So, we are off to the mall in search of a new coffee maker. I have a $25 Target Gift Card that I earned at Boomertowne so we will be checking out what Target has to offer. If I can't find something there I am heading to Big Lots. They have Krups coffee makers on sale. Or, maybe we should check out Home Depot. I have a $50 gift card that I earned from Gather. What brand coffee maker would you recommend?

That sounds like a great idea. These gift cards from gather and boomertowne come in handy. Espically for something like this.

They certainly do. I was hoping to save them for Birthday and Christmas gifts though. Dang it.

Honestly, I bought mine at the Dollar store. It is a Proctor Silex and you can buy those just about anywhere. I drink so much coffee and it has never gone out on me. I think I have had this one about two years now, and the one (same brand) before this one I had a little over five years. Of course, mine does not have all that fancy stuff like the settings of a timer and clock. But it is a pause'n'pour. And I like to think because I saved so much on my coffee machine I can buy my good coffee that I like. Plus, it's not like I am making cappucinos with it.

I like the pause n pour feature. Sometimes you just can't wait for that first cup. At least, my husband can't wait. Sometimes the coffee is a bit too strong for me. I like to let it run the entire brew cycle.

I don't have a favorite brand of coffee maker. I just have one of the cheap ones from Walmart. Its great you have your gift card, you can pick out a coffee maker and it won't cost you anything. I take that back. My favorite coffee maker is the kind you get for free.

We have a Cuisinart that grinds the coffee before brewing. It makes the freshest coffee you can possibly imagine. It was about $100, but has been well worth it. It has lasted and shows no signs of giving out. I would recommend it to anyone.

There is one on sale at Big Lots, not certain that it grinds the coffee though. But, we do have a grinder that we use. It is on sale for $40.

I can tell you which one I would not recommend! Do not get a Black and Decker. My s/o bought us one with the timer, because I was getting up so early and we could set it up the night before and coffee would be ready when I go up. Well, I just returned/exchanged the 3rd one, and I will be taking this one back. The first ones the timer stopped working on, this one the clock doesn't even work right to start with, it makes coffee, but you can't set the clock so therefore you can't set the timer. So, I'm done with that brand, when I take this one back, I will look at the other brands, Mr Coffee has always had a good one, I still have one, thankfully, that I pull out when these others have gone on the blink. I also had a Proctor-silex, it lasted a long time too. The mister coffee one that I have, is about 4 years old and still works.

We have had several Black and Decker. Don't ask me why I bought them when they kept failing. I remember a long time ago using Proctor-Silex and it cost me $10. It lasted for years. I prefer to have one that has a timer so I can wake and have coffee ready and waiting for me. I will check out the Mister Coffee.

That is funny, I have had good luck with Black and Decker, It may depend on where they are actually made. Like maybe now they get made overseas, and just have the name pasted on.

I thought that Black and Decker was a good name and could be trusted. Hubby does have many tools by them.

It is great how we can earn some gift cards here and there, and they come in very handy when we need them. I am saving Gather points for Home Depot cards, it will be a long while before I have enough Boomertowne points to matter. I use my myLot money for things like that. I usually get the cheapest Wal Mart coffee maker I can get. We paid around ten for the one we have now, and it has lasted more than three years. That is because my hubby put it on a cleaning schedule and cleans it with vinegar, or with Shaklee Basic H2. Have fun shopping for that new coffee maker.

We now only use vinegar to clean out our coffee makers. I guess that is why this one has lasted for so long.

I hardly ever drink coffee, the only coffee maker I ever had was a melita, not sure if they even make them now. At least you have the gift certificates that is wonderful.

I've got a Mr. Coffee maker. I've had it for at least 9 years. It makes good coffee with no problems, but the automatic timer no longer works. I used to be able to put the coffee and water in, and set the time for when I wanted the coffee to start brewing. I liked to wake up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee, so I used to set it right after dinner. I've been waiting for my machine to break so I can justify buying a new one that has the automatic brew feature working. For now, I still think it makes good coffee. I would buy a Mr. Coffee again.
