Do you suppose last week's Criminal Mind was a bit on sending a message

sort of episode? Is that taking political correctness and hating Christians too far? I am sure if a Christian had a son, he would not beat him up to make a man out of him. (and on TV, it is always the only son isn't it? He does not have a straight brother, and unless they claim inheritance through the daughter, the father does not have a son to carry on, unless that son decides to give up his lifestyle and being in prison, he will not ==but I guess with the atmosphere going on now, he would get a light sentence and get out.) It looks like Criminal Minds is going the way of Law and Order in that they take cases by their political relavence -- i.e. blacks can kill someone because of the horrible things that happened to them, a Jewish parent can kill a child because he thinks he has Tay Sachs, etc." Now it is the Christian father's fault that the son became a serial killer.
My husband thinks it was be nice to all, but I felt different. It looks like Criminal Minds was threatened to do an episode to show if a homosexual went to kill other homosexuals, it was not his fault.
So if it is the blacks, Canadians, Japanese, homosexuals, whites, Native Indians, blind people, deaf people Chinese, women, or whatever group, is it right for people to get together and threaten a Tv show to show their point of view and make them all look good?

In a word, no. But that's just Hollyweird for you. They have this PC agenda; it's now taboo to show Christians in a good light.
(There are rare exceptions, of course...kind of like the exceptions the ACLU makes when they take on a conservative cause -- just to be able to CLAIM they're =fair,= doncha know....)
But as for Hollyweird, ALL other sorts are great people, no matter what, but Christians are automatically BAD. We are stupid, knuckle-dragging, humorless, phobic, brainwashed, prudish, abusive -- you fill in the negatives -- robots.
NOT! LOL!

I forgot to mention I didn't see the show in question, as I'm not a fan of that show. But I stand by my statement that Hollyweird HAS an anti-God agenda, & an anti-Christian one in particuloar. This is a fact, having been repeatedly documented.
I AM a fan of "Law & Order" as it happens, but even I admit their heavy-handed treatment of Christians is sadly obvious.
As with the majority of films & TV shows, when murder or abuse is the topic, & a "pillar of the Christian community" is among the cast, you can easily guess "whodunnit." BAD writing! Down, boy! LOL!
One more thing. Someone pointed aout that they've known abusive Christians. I disagree. You see, anyone can CLAIM to be Christian, but in fact, true Christianity is a BEHAVIOUR. Many who have never -heard- of Christ are Christ-like (FOLLOWERS of His Spirit), and sadly, there are those who CLAIM to be His followers, yet haven't a clue what Christ taught -- judging by their behaviour!
You see, Christian is as Christian DOES. When I sin (& I DO), I am NOT following Christ. I cannot be said to BE Christian at that point, no MATTER what I otherwise say.
So, if you know anyone who claims to be Christian & yet is abusive or otherwise not FOLLOWING what Christ taught, it behooves you to point this out to them! If they have a spark of the Devine in them, perhaps they'll see the Light, & STOP the evil behaviour.
Just my tuppence.

That is so true. Anyone can claim to be a Christian, but unless he or she follows Christ and lives a God-fearing life, that person is not a Christian. I hate the way they portray Christianity. It will eventually lead to persecution. We already have the beginnings up here in Canada and think of the Roman Empire, it probably started with people saying bad things about Christians, then they would not let them join the guilds, and then they started to abuse them of horrible things, and then Nero came and burnt Rome, and blamed the Christians.
Persecution starts with just a little flame.

Yes, as it says in the Bible, "It's the -little- foxes that spoil the vines. That was actually a metaphor for "little" sins. When we sin again & again in little matters, it breaks down our resistance to the big sins.
Hollyweird has been proudly "pushing the envelope," & spoiling the vines, since it began.
Now, theyre aiming at the -roots.-

I am usually busy doing something else, and usually we watch a movie on TCM. It is between two of my favorite shows. Most of the time I am usually out, and so when I get home, I am too tired to watch it. But this time, I decided to watch it.

Ok my daughter told me about the show and I find it disgusting, because the reason this show probably did this is because some "Christians" are like that..btw, I say the word Christian lightly here, this guy was no Christian, a real Christian shows the love of G♥d, this guy only showed hate and said he was Christian only because he believed in Jesus..Wake up call Just because you believe doesn't make you a follower of Christ..Remember Satan also believes, does that make him a Christian???
It is things like this, that really make me mad..It isn't a "we are all human" excuse, it is hiding behind a religion that is so very wrong..

They need better writers.. Life itself has enough intolerance, dislike, the blame game, etc.. If it's on the tv, I change the channel..

I do agree they need better writers. The writers all seem to be on the blame the Christians, follow the political correctness theory, etc. They need braver writers. Years ago, a writer wrote a television play, he did not copy the popular view. But now he does. They are afraid to stand up.

I do think that sometimes certain groups can influence the writers, and I think that is what happened here. That group wanted to show that homosexuality is not the homosexual's fault. Note they emphasized the father beating his son and that he was born that way. That is a dangerous precedence.

Honestly, I didn't think their message, if they had one at all, was about Christianity. The father abused the son, both physically and mentally, to the point that the son hated himself. The son became a serial killer, with his victims mirroring what he hated about himself. I don't think it was a message about Christianity at all.
Criminal Minds is all about figuring out what makes a serial killer tick...to get inside his head. This show wasn't really any different.
I have to disagree with you on one point, though. Christian men have and do beat their children for various reasons. My Grandpa and his brother were both ministers. My Grandpa's brother, for whatever reason, beat his oldest son all the time. One day, he actually beat him with a fence post. (This was in the 1920's-1930's. My Grandpa went to pick up his nephew and took him to live with him and his family. The boy never went back home. So, yes, Christians can be just as guilty as anyone else of child abuse and neglect.
I love Law and Order, too. They get their stories from the news, though, not through political agenda. I think it's one of the most respected shows ever on TV.

It seems on Tv, if someone beats their child, or causes him to be a criminal, it is a Christian. If the person is a Muslim or some other belief, he is a nice guy. So it seems the target is Christianity. I am talking about most tv drama and crime shows. Sure some Christians are not Christian in that they beat up their kids and abuse them, but why just focus on them, why not focus on Buddhist,Muslims, Hindu, Pagans, Atheists, etc. who beat and abuse their children and turn them into serial murderers? That is my point. It is all one sidd.

You know, what shocked me more than the ending was how sexually charged the episode was! It took on more of a CSI: Maimi feel than the typical Ciminal Minds, didn't you think?
So about the episode: How I took it is that the son reacted how he did because he was abused, and that made him flip out. PERIOD. I didn't think it focused too much on the father doing it "in the name of the church" or Christianity, per se. Quite of few murderers out there have a warped mind for one reason or another, and this time it just so happened that his father abused him for being homosexual. I didn't feel that they were saying it was OK, but saw it as more of a statement.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to understand that the abuse caused his homosexuality, I think it caused his murders. He felt that it was worse to be a homosexual than to kill those people as evidenced by his comments at the end of the show. Regardless of whether the dad was a strong Christian or not, I think it's that he didn't accept his son how he was and that is what caused the son's issues.

I did not think that the dad should have been proud of his son's homosexuality and hugged him and all that. If I were a man, I would have wanted to know how it happened as I do not believe that it is in the genes. If it were, then abortions would be performed on the suspicion alone and many infants who would turn out like everyone else would not be born. But he should have found if anyone had abused his child at nursery school or there was a funny uncle in the neighborhood.

your husband is right criminal minds is a very fair show, I like it, and you have a bias, or something hon, I don't know what it is but it looks like you want everything to be the way you think.
it is a big world with different opinions and that is just the way it is. Criminal minds show sides that people don't often see and they try to show that point of view so that those that have ears and want to understand will understand.

It should not show point of view. It should show that the criminal made his choice on his own. It is not a everyone is different and one wrong can be tolerated because of the difference of color or gender persuasion the serial killer has. That is what is getting us into trouble, hate crime laws. If a person murders someone, he hates that person. It does not matter whether he is black, white, has green skin and bulging eyes, from another planet or homosexual. But now the punishment of the criminal depends on who he murdered not on that he murdered --killing police officers and little children being the exception.

I think all these kinds of shows - CSI and all those that show the crime and how it was done and all the gorey details and what the police look for and how they investigate and all...just gives the ideas to those that do the crimes in real life. I mean, they show a kid making a bomb in a movie or tv episode and then wonder why a kid in real life makes one! I think they are to descriptive, to graphic and to detailed to be "just a tv show" and they give far to much info for the criminals to use.
I just yesterday rented a movie and there was a preview of another show - didn't catch the name, but this rich boy gets kicked out of private schools and goes to public. His family is on all kinds of medications and such, so he finds that the kids in school have "problems", so he tells his parents he has these problems, they send him to doctor to get presription and then he hands them out to the kids at school for problems they say they have....and they buy the prescription meds and he makes money and is like all around. it was structured as a bit of a comedy but in real life -- how easy would that be for a person in that situation to do the same? I never would have thought it could happen, but the clips of that show - boy it would be so easy!
