For some reason the term housewife has always bothered me. I don't know why but when someone calls me that I get really offended, I don't know why the term bothers me so much, but it does, maybe because it kind of implies that I am a wife who works for my house or my husband, I don't know. I prefer the term Stat At Home Mom.
Is it just me or does the term housewife, bother anyone else?

Hi LadyM,
The term housewife bothers me too, but I haven't managed to find a better alternative. I never really use it, apart from when I need to insure my car and they insist that I have to placed in a little box. The 'unisex' one that they keep coming up with is home-maker. But I hate that too!
Stay at Home Mom is great if you are one, but how about all those ladies who don't have kids?

Yes, it bothers me and I also prefer stay at home mom..On important paperwork, I put down homemaker, that way it doesn't look like I am working for my husband..
