Working in a big city is a mixed blessing. It is so convenient and comfortable there, but noise pollution and traffic congestion are two big headaches. I live in Xi'an,the underground won't be finished till 2010.Althgough we don't have so many private cars as western countries, but it's the traffic is not so good.My big headache is taking a bus,you are packed like sardines. When it's the rush hour, you have to wait for several buses till you get one.Sometime even if you succeed getting on a bus,it's not easy for you to get off,you are squeezed in the crowd, can't even move a muscle! Do you live/work in a big city or a small town?If you could choose, what's the perfection choice?

I will rather work in a small town.. Though it may not be as advanced or comfortable as the big city, i will prefer the peacefulness and quiet life in the small town.. If i happen to stay near to the town, 1hr or so, walking home is not a problem for me.. I can take it as my way of relaxation and de-stressing myself afer one's day work.. haha

I think it's better to work in a big city than a small town. At least there will be much more chances and the salary will be higher. I think small town is good for retirement. Actually I have been to Xi'an in 1997 and I love there:) I like there especially because Xi'an people are very nice:) I love China

I live near a big city, in a small city! I know about the crowded buses during rush hour, when most people are going to work or back home again! It is not good. There should be more transportation options available at those times!

I prefer to working in a big city. I like working in a fast paced environment because I can bore easily.

nice way to put it. a mixed blessing indeed. i am currently working in a small island somewhere in the pacific. and i must say, i badly miss the traffic, the pollution, seeing people here and there, convenient stores at every corner.. some people do find me weird for wanting to work in an environment like that rather than the island way of living. you have very limited options when working in a small town/island. so i guess i'd rather do it the city way than the island way.

We don't live in a town or a city - we live on a farm & there is a a tiny town 2 kilometres away & a medium sized town 50 kilometres away. We would never live in any town unless for some reason we had to - we love the laid back country lifestyle & it's great for the kids

I had worked in a small town for nearly four years, now i am in a big city.I think if i can choose,i will prefer the small town, because the life in the small town is really leisurely and there is not too many cars here, certainly, there are less people than in the big city. The air is fresh, the traffic is not busy, ect. But somebody will say live in a small town is not convenient,it is very convenient by contraries, you can buy many many brands goods here.

Sometimes, I prefer living in small town but I think I would still miss the big city and my work there plus the salary is twice than working in a small town. I guess for now, I would prefer the big city then once I get stable and settle down, I will choose to stay in a small town. Cheers!

I would prefer the big city. The pollution and noise does not both me and I like the hustle and bustle of everything.

Given the choice, I'd rather live in a small town. The air is cleaner. The people are friendlier and things don't cost as much as they do here in the city. What makes me think twice though is the salary. Want to earn as much as I can.

Sometimes i want to stay in a big city cause it's so convienent but sometimes i prefer to stay in a small town cause it's so peaceful and relaxed. I live in Guangzhou and once i was on a trip in Xiamen. Xiamen is clean, and i never see such a blue sky and feel so soft wind there, but after working over 11:00p.m. while feeling hungry, i regretted that i didnt bring any food with me!Cuz it's too difficult to find a restaurant that still open, or even a 24hrs store...I never felt living in Guangzhou is such a blessed thing, cuz 24hrs restaurants and stores are everywhere. So i would like to live in a small town which is near a big city but work in the big city, then i can enjoy the big city's convenients and small town's peace.

i live and work in a big city. its one of the metro in India. i live at Kolkata. i travel by public vehicle and office transport. i think in terms of opportunities, big cities are better than little ones. there are traffic jam, pollution and all. still it has its advantages.

If I had to work outside of the home, I would choose to work in a small town rather than a big city. I have worked many places though and it is pretty much all the same other than the traffic and pollution. I am now working at home though and I love it the most. I do not have to drive anywhere and I can work when I want to.

I am working in a big city. I work in Hyderabad. though i belong to a very small town, so i can very well realize the differences between the living conditions between a big city and a small town. I can list some of the main differences between my hometown Mathura and the city where i work in..Hyderabad. 1) The area. In Mathura if you travel by 5 kms you would be at the outskirts of the town whereas in Hyderabad, my office is 17 kms from the main city. 2) Traffic. There is a hell lot of traffic in Hyderabad. Mathura is still a silent city. 3) Work Opportunities. Considering my job, I have a lot of opportunities to improve my career in Hyderabad but not in Mathura. Infact i even did my 11th, 12th and college from a different place. If it would have been possible for me , i would have preferred to stay in my hometown, but i dont have any choice. Job is a necessity..

I live in a small town, I do ot work so I do not really have a problem of getting home, but I know that if I did with my town being so small it would be quite easy for me to walk home. Even if I worked in the next town it would be real easy to get a bus and the bus would not be packed. I though, would prefer to live in a bigger town, and I would work there too, as there would be more choices of jobs.

i think both have their advantages and disadvantages.working in a big city gets you a lot of exposure and understanding of the job and the the work culture.you get to learn a lot of things whereas working in a small town lets you be and makes you learn things in your own time.but big cities involves lot of costs incurred for your expenses like living expenses etc whereas in small towns you can think of saving your buck.

Now that sounds like a nightmare to me. I live in a small town and I am miserable living even in a mid-sized town. I like the freedom I feel in the country lifestyle.
