For those of you who are meat eaters, do you ever enjoy a vegetarian dish once in awhile? More often than once in awhile? I ask because sometimes people refuse to eat a dish if there is no meat in there as if it will not taste good! (especially in the US.)

I don't mind eating dishes with no meat in them. Of course, I have occasionally toyed with the idea of becoming a vegetarian, but never actually have. I have enough problems getting protein as it is now; if I stopped eating meat, I know I'd have a much worse time of it.

I am surprised you have a hard time getting protein! I get more than enough as a vegan, but maybe you have different protein requirements than I do?

I'm a meat eater but I also like foods without meat in or on it. A lot of pasta dishes, doesn't have to have meat in it. I also love salads, not with iceberg lettuce either. I like Romane with Spinach leaves, a Greek type salad with toppings. You don't need need meat to make a dish good.

I eat meatless meals probably 3-5 times a week. I must admit, I am more apt to eat one for lunch than for dinner since it does seem odd after a lifetime of eating meat in most meals not to have it for dinner.

Yes, that is true. When I stopped eating meat it seemed strange, but it didn't take long for me to get used to not having it and now the smell of it makes me sick! I could never imagine putting it in my mouth.. all chewy and body-part like.. ew!

hi wooitsmolly sometimes i do really enjoy a vegeterian dish once in a while i mean i am not a vegeterian but i do eat vegeterian dishes a lot of the time because i get sick of eating meat because sometimes i think that it is cruel to the animals and the other people would not like it if we slaughted them and eat them would they.

No, they wouldn't. I think a vegetarian lifestyle is part of the key to happiness and kindness, but that's my personal belief.

Meat is the center of many peoples' universes.. It confuses me, but I don't see why they won't at least TRY something new. If they don't end up liking it, so what?

I really do not like vegetables all that much. I like raw vegetables more than cooked ones also. I could never just sit down and eat a vegetable dish with no meat. I fix vegetable soup sometimes but it has to have alot of meat in it before I will eat it.

That is too bad! How do you feel about fruit? I love fruit a lot more than I like vegetables. Have you ever tried any "faux meats"?? Hehe some of them taste just like the real thing and then again, some taste like doodoo mixed with toothepaste.

I became vegetarian when I was 4 years old when my sister told me that I was eating an animal. Then over a long period of time I gradually became vegan. This means that I don't eat meat, fish, eggs, milk, cheese or honey. It stops animal cruelty and provided that I get enough vitamin B12 and Iron it is a healthy diet. I eat a lot of salad, other vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice and I drink soya milk. Meat is not needed to make a meal tasty I feel.

I am not a big meater and as a-matter-of-fact niether is my family. We tend to get pretty tierd of having meat and then it all just goes to waste as it can only be kept in the fridge for so long. To deal with this we dont buy much meat in the first place. I am a big fruit lover and a good vegetarian meal is to die for. (lol)

While I admit to still being a meat eater, I've cut down quite a bit and if I do buy meat I get "organic" in other words not farm factory meats as I'm all too well aware of the conditions of the animals raised that way for human consumption. I have no problem at all eating a non-meat meal, in fact I love veggie burgers, and now that the weather is warming up it won't be unusual for me to eat more salads which I love anyway..you can make a really great meal out of a salad dinner--in fact I'm going to do some grocery shopping tomorrow and will get the fixings for salads. I make my one homemade potato, macaroni salads--I even like adding something like kidney beans to my salads as well.

I eat vegetarian dishes most of the time. I only eat meat about 3 or 4 times a week. My FIL is one of those people that refuse to eat something if there is no meat in it. But I have never known anyone else who is funny about it like him.

even though i enjoy a good tasting meat i don't have to have it with every meal. A good veggie plate is sometimes just what the doctor ordered to satisfy my hunger. There are way to many to try and list here but the one that sticks to my mind first is a good olive garden fetichinni. noodles with a good cheesy sauce is perfect.Any kind of salad to me is great i love the little baby corns dipped in ranch ok now I am hungry again. LOL

I love my meat, but there are so many god vegetarian meals out there. There are some really interesting veggies that most people haven't heard of and would probably just love if they did. Other than the run of the mill carrots, peas etc.

Yes, exactly. When I am at the store if I see a vegetable I have never tried I usually buy one to see if I like it. A lot of the time I don't, but it's nice to try new things! You never know what you will love to eat if you never try!
