Ok so I've been working heaps the last few weeks and i'm currenty enjoying four days off. Today is my last full day at home-I go back to work tomorrow night at 7pm. I've been puttin goff all the housework because I consider this 'me time' but I know by tomorrow I must do all the washing (about 4 more loads) and put it away so it doesn't pile up and I also have to clean the fishtank. Except I really can't be bothered doing anything! It's cold here right now and I just want to snuggle on the couch but if I do i won't be able to relax because I'll be thinking about the housework that needs doing! It's 11am here right now so I've got about7 hours to get everything done before it's time to cook dinner and shower. Does anyone have a plan of attack to suggest?

You might have to re-evaluate your goals. Do whatever laundry you can, don't worry about doing all four loads. Be careful when you clean the fishtank. I killed all my fish one time by not rinsing out all the gravel because I ran out of time and I rushed through it. lol You can always make a simple dinner with minumal clean up and save time. Maybe you waited too long to get everything done, but I think you realised it wasn't that important. Four days off from work gave you lots of time to remember how easy life used to be and how you wish you could go back to that time before your world got crazy. Once you get back to work, you'll get back into the swing of things. Don't beat yourself about what you didn't do. It's counter-productive to getting anything done. You probably already found your plan of action. It's weird thinking of you being cold because it's quite warm here and it 10:25pm. I'm stuck in a misunderstanding with someone I live with and the world feels very small. It's a good reminder to me that life goes on in other places with its own set of problems. It helps me keep things in perspective. Well, I hate telling people 'good luck' because it sounds so lame and everyone says it. I can't think of any more creative encouraging words. I know everything will work out fine. Take it easy. How's that?

Thank you for your motivation. It is 4.45pm here and it's still cold! I agree with you-I am falling back into my old life before work got crazy. I've managed to do another 2 loads of washing and the dishes. The fish tank will have to wait til tomorrow!

Good job. Lower your expectations and you'll get more done. Feel good about what you accomplished. How does it feel now that you're back at your job?

Yes, if you have 4 loads of laundry to do there must be someone else living in the house besides you. Let them do it. That is my plan of attack. You cannot go back to work tired because it may be some time before you get another day off!

Usually just getting started helps motivate. The longer you put it off the harder it is to get started. Geeze four days off of work, I can't remember the last time that I had that many days off work in a good while! Thankfully I am getting a two day weekend off this weekend.

Oh boy can I relate to you! I'm off (school) sick, and I have a massive assignment to do, a load of washing, dishes and general tidying up to do. My plan of attack is: 10 more minutes of MyLot, and then the laptop goes away. Then: put the washing on, come in and tidy up so that I have a clean, fresh work environment for my assignment, and of course put on some music, probably Ladies of Jazz, because it's the coolest thing around =P Then I'll work for about 1 hour before giving myself a break, having lunch etc, and then get back to it. Basically, you have to bite the bullet and make yourself motivated, as much as it sucks =P Just remember: the sooner you do it, the sooner you CAN snuggle up on the couch, watch some TV or whatever =)

Yeah it's a good feeling to have everything done knowing you can relax!

Think of it this way. You have a right to free time, where you choose what you do, without influence from members of your family. I do the housework bit by bit, whenever it suits. Once, my hubby hinted that I should do more housework & spend less time on My lot. As if.... I make sure that no one is missing out on meals, they have clean clothes to wear & the house is basicly hygenic. I am not obsessive about cleanliness.

Sigh!!! I know how you feel! I usually drink a sugar fee red bull and start moving. I also try to remember how lucky I am to have had 4 days off and how lucky that I have a washing machine to wash and fishtank to clean when many others don't. This makes me feel guilty and pushes me into doing my chores. Hope you get all your stuff done!

I think it is the worst thing when you have time off work and then you have to get the cleaning done before you go back to work. The only suggestion I have is get it done as soon as possible and as quick as possible and then you may still have a little time left over to sit and enjoy!! For once it is not cold in UK it has been lovely here for the last 3 days and it is beautiful, I am really hoping it lasts until I have been on my holiday at the end of the month!!

LOL! Start doing those pending jobs now! You will feel more tired tomorrow after off for 4 days. So better get it down these last few hours. I know it's difficult but somehow it will make life easier 4 u tomorrow.
