Explain Yourself!!

Why is that people make discussions and they ask questions but the never seem to give their own opinion? I just don't understand it. I mean you would get more credit for it if you would give more details. I see so many discussions that have been started at its just a single line that is a question. I'm want to know why do you do it? Do you not have any explanation? It wouldn't make any sense. It's just answering your own question and seeing what others opinions are on the subject. So how does everyone else feel about these people who don't seem to explain their discussions and just expect you to respond to them??

I doboth. SOmetimes I'll pose a question and leave it open. Then as people respond I share pieces of my ideas or thoughts on the subject. I do this to get people's real thoughts, instead of "yeah that's true", or "I think that too." I want to know what people think, before they know what I think. But sometimes I share a little in my initial post, to give people a little clearer idea of the question I am posing.

Ok, I see where you are coming from with this. It just still annoys me majority of the time. And I'm sure that's not the intention of the others that post those types of discussions. They're just doing it to have discussions. But if you think about it, it won't do you any good if no one responds to them.

Yeah, I have a couple of unanswered discussions, and that just may be the case. I think some people just want to start a discussion, and may not already have a view point on the subject. Some are just trying to get as many discussions as possible, and those ones annoy the heck out of me.

Yea it annoys me too, that's why I started this discussions to see how everyone else is feeling about this. I'm pretty sure your right about the fact that their doing it just for the earnings but they're not earning much with just a single line. But I guess I shouldn't worry myself too much about them and just focus on my earnings.

Hello thuynhu! I have never ever started a one line discussion in my time here ever since I started. I give all the relevant details that I can. I also provide possible choices and/or different opinions, to help people organize their thoughts, depending on the type of discussion I am having. I also give explanation, sometimes though not always, as to why I started that discussion and how it was inspired, just so, people could understand the perspective and may have clear idea what I am talking about and what my intentions are with the discussion. That said, I don't give my opinions, most of the time, in my discussion starter. It is just to let people think on their own and not get them biased on one side or the other. I think starting one liners, not giving explanation is one thing and not giving opinion is another.

I think it makes it easy to respond to a discussion where a little explanation is provided as to what poster is exactly looking for. Since otherwise, with a more generalized question, there can be a myriad of possibilities and one can take it into a completely different dimension than what the poster is looking for! It wastes time and effort, not to mention the purpose of discussion getting obscured!

I appreciate your response to my discussion. I see what you mean by giving an explanation and an opinion being completely different. I just wish they would expand on their topic of discussion. It would just make it more interesting to read and like you say help to organize their thoughts and what not. Well hopefully people see this discussion and start to expand a little bit more on their discussions.

I suppose it is because it is easier to ask questions than answering them ! But, mylotters are working together as a community. That is very good , right ?

It is a very good thing. Even though we should know that there will always be a few here and there that isn't going to but that's just how things are. Mylotters do help one another is so many ways. I mean if you look at all the discussions that have been started, there are quite a number of them that deal with needing advice on something. Opinions help, because sometimes they help you see what you never would have seen before. I appreciate each and every person here on mylot.

Whenever I ask a question on my own discussions I usually give the reason why I am asking and then I will post my oppinion. Sometimes if i accidently switch the browser off before i am done or something I may get too flustered to write down everything i say again!

I know what you mean. I did that not to long ago. I was leaving a response to someone else and I accidently exit the wrong tab. I was a little irritated that it happened. But I wanted to leave a response. So I went back and typed it up as much as I could remember. And when it showed my posting I had seen the one I had thought I messed up posted right before my new one. I went back and commented on it and explained what had happened. Next time I will check before I re-type.

yeah...that only makes sense to add in your own opinion to the conversation you start. if you don't your really not having a discussion are you?

You are absolutely right. You can't have a discussion without others responding to the start of it all. I'm just glad people have stopped by and responded to my discussion. I feel as though I make good enough discussions for others to be able to respond.

Yes I agree. I think it's more interesting to read about the asker's opinion on the subject, and it's always nice if they explain why they're asking the question otherwise it does sometimes seem as if they're just asking random questions off the top of their head! Also if somebody's asking for my opinion on something then it seems fair for me to know what their opinion is too! I've occasionally asked at the end of my response 'so what's your opinion on this?', but a lot of the time people don't come back to give their opinion. It's like they want to ask the question but not want people to know what they think about it.
