If it was the Skipper, did you know what his actual name was on the show? As a kid, I wanted to be like Ginger, she was so sexy back then. LOL As I have grown older, I have moved more towards Mary Ann. She was the All American girl next door. Well here is the answer . . . The actual character name of the Skipper (played by actor Alan Hale) from the television show Gilligan's Island was Jonas Grumby. I never knew that.

Because he did do Mr. Magoo. LOL I never did get Mr. Magoo, LOL. I would have loved to seen a movie or a spin-off of how the Howell's survived once they got back home. The rescue movie touched on it a little bit, but I think there could have been some potential there.

The Professor was my favorite character and he normally was the one to come up with the solution except for getting off the island. I knew Tina Louise and Dawn Wells couldn't stand each other on or off the set. If the show had aired now, then everyone would have known there was a problem on the set.

I didn't know that. I knew Tina Louise wanted way too much money to come back to the show for the movies, etc. Oh could you imagine the drama! LOL

I remember the Skipper's name had been mentioned in the first or second episode, but I was having trouble remembering it until reading this post. Snopes.com has a page about the show, suggesting that creator Sherwood Schwartz wanted Gilligan's full name to be "Willy Gilligan." The first name was supposedly dropped before the pilot was filmed.

Thanks for responding, I will have to go out to snopes to read up about it. We found the movie when they were rescued at Target's dollar spot for 50 cents and it has started my girls into the castaways' adventure.
