If you were waiting for a series to come on TV and through other committments had missed the first two episodes would you bother watching and trying to catch up with what was going on or would you not bother at all? Ellie :D

I think it depends on the type of Show You like to watch..Some shows are self contained episodes, and have "Previously on......," Trailers that will bring You up to speed. I have never watched an episode of "Lost" as I feel I've missed too much of the show to make it worthwhile starting a number of episodes into a season..but Shows Like "Chuck" or "Reaper" or "Pushing Daisies" are pretty much self contained and easy to watch..

"Firefly" the series (2004) would be a prime example of how to muck up the airing of a Series that would make trying to get into a series impossible-Studio Executives didn't like the 2 hour Pilot, put it on the back burner, and insisted on a new Single hour length "Pilot",then Chopped and changed the running order of episodes, altered the schedule and took over the show's slot for other shows at short notice, then cancelled the Show when it failed to get high ratings with this treatment, leaving 3 episodes that had been filmed on the Shelf, then finally when they killed it off,Lastly aired the original Pilot... With some great Insight,The Show was taken by Universal Studios and made into the Movie "Serenity".This made the growing number of fans of the series who'd missed seeing it on TV due to the planning (or lack of it) Happy,as the TV Show Episodes had inbetween been released onto DVD to a new and appreciative audience...

Wow ShepherdSpy Thanks for sharing all that information I have in fact never heard of either Firfly or Serenity but it made interesting reading. I get what you are saying with Lost, you would be lost if you hadn't seen previously and Pushing Up Daises is repeated if you miss it anyway. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D

I was looking forward to Life on Mars when it was first shown a while back on TV and somehow missed the first 2 or 3 episodes (just ended up having something come up 2 or 3 weeks in a row on the same evening)! I didn't bother watching the show as I thought it would make no sense having missed the first few episodes. When I recently watched Ashes to Ashes (which was a sort of follow on from Life On Mars) I loved it so much that I decided I had to go and watch Life on Mars and luckily a colleague of mine had them all on DVD so I was able to watch it and I enjoyed it so much that I'm going to buy the DVD set myself now! I am glad though that I hadn't watched the series without watching the first few episodes as I wouldn't have followed it properly and some of the references made in later episodes were related to the earlier episodes.

That's the good thing about Series being released on DVD..You get to watch a series you like at your own pace, and can take it out and watch again whenever you want!

Ooh such a shame you missed Ashes to Ashes, it was a good show, but I felt let down by the last show of the first series. Life on Mars on the other hand was fantastic and I'm so glad I got to watch it in the end. xx

Hi Mine was the other way round, I had seen the Life On Mars series and loved it and was looking forward to Ashes to Ashes and I think even commented on a discussion you had about it but in fact missed most episodes as was working in the evenings so couldn't really catch up. I am sure they will show it again at some stage though. This is why I don't bother too much with series as it can affect if you miss an episode. I tend to watch film or a one of drama show instead. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie-if it a series I've been waiting to come on yes I would watch it as normally the first couple of episodes are repeated-if it was a series I couldn't really be bothered with I wouldn't watch it-littleowl

I very rarely watch TV except for an odd programme. The ones that really annoy me are where you just get into the programme and it breaks for half an hour for the news and then you have to wait and some evnings I am just so tired to be bothered waiting up for the rest of the film. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

I very rarely watch TV really but if something cathces my eye I will and I also like to watch some sports and documentaries, but if I have missed a couple of episodes I don't usually bother with the rest unless it is an easy one to catch up on. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

I guess it depends on what kind of show it is and what show it is. If it was a show I really liked then I would probably try to watch it and catch up with what is going on. If it is a show that plays re-runs, then I would wait until I could see it from the beginning.

I think I would wait til the beginning again too in this situation. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

some it would be okay....as they are easy to catch up on. When I watched soaps a hundred years ago you could miss for a year and catch up! That's part of the reason I quit watching them....LOL....for the most part.....I don't watch much television. I am doing my artsy fartsy stuff or on the puter.

I don't watch much TV either, I'm better to watch a film or a single aired drama programmme rather than a series as I tend to forget that it is on and miss the next episode anyway. Agree with you on the soaps and the only time I watch them is if I have visitors and they like to. I have one friend who will sit and watch a whole omnibus of a couple of hours, too much LOL. Hi Rosekitty, I was sleeping here in the UK. You have a lovely Mothers Day too. In England we had our Mothers Day in March this year, I don't know why it is different in different parts of the world but us mums are mums everyday anyway eh! Its great if you can catch up of one different channels. I didnt have one in particular in mind its just that I had missed a couple of races with the British Superbikes and the question came into my head that if it had been a TV series with a plot and characters would I have bothered wathcing. This I will as it doesn't make any difference but I wondered what others did. Now I'm waffling better go have some now for breakfast LOL. Enjoy your day. Ellie :D
