Do you want gravy with that?

My boyfriend (being from minnesota) came to visit for the first time a few years ago (here being saskatchewan) and I remember how oddly he looked at the girl at the resturant when she asked if he wanted gravy with his fries. It was a blank sort of look then he looked at me and i told her on the side.
It didnt clue in to ask why he gave me such an odd look until i went to his house for a week and..i couldnt find gravy offered with fries on ANY OF the menus.
So i asked him and he said until he was at my house he had never been asked if he wanted gravy with his fries.
Is this only a canadian thing..or do other places also put gravy on their fries?

Hi There.
Aside from ketchup mixed in a mayonnaise, I love dipping my french fries into a gravy! I love it.So, I am one of those peeps who loves gravy with fries.

Well i won't want anything beside chili , curry or mayo sauce for my fries yea . It will taste very werid for me to eat fries without them yea .

Around here you can get chili cheese fries. Hubby said in Germany the catsup was so awful that people from the US put Mayo on their fries.

No, not around here. People put gravy on hash browns and on tater tots though, and that is the same thing, I am in Kansas. Someone somewhere else may have a different answer. Personally, I like gravy on everything.
