My daughter took me out to lunch and shopping for mother's day and to our surprise the DISNEY Store is CLOSING!! That store has been there for over 10 years!
We also found out that Friendman's jewlery store is closing down too and they have been there just as long. They have briday sets for as low as $200!
My daughter was so upset that her boyfriend couldn't come to see the sets. lol They have been talking about getting married and that is a fantastic price on briday sets.
So I ask you when you go shopping, are you surprised to see stores open or closing?
I am surprised because like I stated they has been there for over 10 years, but I am not surprised, because the mall has been dead for the last 3 years. lol

Its funny you should start this discussion because someone asked me today if our store was closing. I know a few stores in the mall are and people don't think that the mall I work in will last, but I've never heard rumor of our store closing. Kind of scary, because in this economy a store closing wouldn't come as much of a surprise.

The mall where I live is like that. I usualy don't go that often since it isn't that close to where I live. I went 2 weeks ago and noticed that several stores wehre closed and that they moved seeral things around. It had been a few months since the last time I was there but it looks so empty now then it ever used to.

Thats funny because the friedmans jewelry store here in our town is also closing. So do you think all Friedman stores are closing? It doesn't surprise me when a store opens or closes. What does surprise me is when they build a building for a new store instead of using a vacant building for this new store.

I noticed the last time that we went to the mall, our Disney store had closed.. I remember commenting on this to my husband, our store had been there for years also.. I remember thinking that this was a sad sign of the times when a store of this size couldn't make it in todays world..

Icy..with our horrible economy as it is..its no shocker to see stores folding left and right and until we find a way out of this mess, the rich will keep getting richer and the poor poorer...almost with the way of dinosaurs..Mom and Pop shops are gone the way of the big shots taking over..charging places huge rents that even a place like Disney can't afford..so sad

I am not really surprised. We had a mall like that in our area. I believe the Friedmans here is closing also. As far as the Disney store goes, I love disney and their characters but the store is so over priced you can't afford to take a kid their to go shopping. I hate that they outprice average people.
