My old mom tripped. I tried to catch her. The impact was such that we both fell down. I hit the floor first and she landed striaght on my knee with all the force of gravity. Imagine 70 kgs falling straight on your knee. I fractured my knee and my tibia. I had to be operated upon with rods inserted in my knee and the tibia. They had to remove a part of my hip bone and graft it too. They were miserable months in bed. The only saving grace of the whole thing was that my mum got saved from fractures and all. I dread to think what she would have suffered had she broken some bone. Today after three and half months in bed, I have just started walking with a walker. I h ave to gradually go on to the tripod stick and then start waling normally. There is pain in the knee and the doc says it will be there for atleast six months for your body to adjust to the steel rods. I am really glad to be back and writing to all of you. I missed you all and this site a lot. It was like being out in the deseret without water. Thank you friends and thank you my lot.

Oh gosh kethy i didn't know you got into an accident. i've only read this dicussion of yours just now and boy, that must have hurt! i haven't experienced breaking a bone anywhere in my body but just imagining it sends my spine tingling. and you had to be operated! goodness. that must have hurt a lot too. well, i am thankful for you that you have already recovered and by now, i am hoping that you are now walking normally without any cane or any walker. i wish you good health always kethy.

well, i'm glad that you are not walking with a cane. that will surely take a long time to heal. just like an injury from sports. but for sure, the pain will go away and we'll just have to think about that day. and i'm happy for you that your mother is safe and nothing bad happened to her. i am hoping for your full recovery. God bless you too.

Thank you dear, I am better and walking without a cane, but the pain is still there and hence I limp. The doctors say the titanium rods and screws inserted in my bones are not accepted well by my body, it being a foreign body. So, it will hurt for another 3 months. I just have to grin and bear it. Yes, those days in bed were very bad, and the days after the op were even worse. At least, my mother who landed on my knee is saved. It would have been a lot worse had she broken soemthing at her age. With friends like you to boost up my courage, what more can I want. Thanks again and God bless.

I am glad that you are both okay now after all of that. I am also glad that you are back to work now. We are all glad to see you come back here with us also. We sure do miss our friends when they are gone. I am glad that you are able to get around better now even if it is with a walker. Take care.

Thanks a million for your warm wishes. I shall take care but then this was really a freak accident. Destiny, I believe. Pray for us and many thanks once again.

That sounds really nasty, but lovely of you to save your Mum from any harm. A long time to be stuck in bed, I would have hated that, it would be a nightmare for me as I have four children to look after. Glad to hear that you are back on your feet though, a long recovery ahead but I am sure now that you are back up on your feet then the rest of your recovery will be swift. Take care.
