Runny yolk or no?

I just responded to a discussion about how people like their eggs and it got me wondering about how people like their yolk. When I am making a fried egg I like for my yolk to still be runny. My kids prefer them that way as well. So, do you like your yolk runny or cooked all the way when eating your fried eggs? Oh, and my egg white has to be all the way done though.

Yea thats the best way along with some hashbrowns and beans and tortellas. Maybe sprinkle with a little cheese.

When I have an egg, it has to be over medium. It cannot have any of the 'shaky white goo' in it. The yolk is still a thick runny and perfect for dipping toast. If my egg has that 'goo' in it and I am out to eat, it will go back to be redone. Ewwww

When I go out to eat and I order eggs I get them scrambled all the time for that reason. Fried eggs never seem to get cooked right when I am out.

I think I like my fried eggs like you do. I like the yolk hot, but runny, but the whites have to be fully cooked. My mom taught me to cover the eggs while they're frying so that they get a nice coating over the top of the yolk, sorta like over easy, but the yolk stays nice and runny. That way, you can wipe up the yolk with the eggs with some bread.

I cover mine up to get the top done a little bit, but then I still flip them over to finish them off.

I do not like runny yolks. It makes me think the egg is not cooked. Besides if it runs onto your clothes it makes a terrible yellow stain. I think it is safer to have your egg cooked all the way through anyway less chance of salmonella.

The yolk getting on your clothes does make quite a mess.

I do not eat eggs anymore, but when I did I usually would eat scrambled eggs. If I did eat a fried egg, the yolk had to be well done. My husband on the other hand eats eggs all of the time, mostly scrambled. When I make fried eggs for him, he likes the yolk a little raw, but not runny runny. Surprised that your children like runny yolks.

Put me down in the runny yolk = yummy column. I think this goes back to Sunday breakfasts in my house. We didn't do hot breakfasts very often. My mom just didn't want to cook in the morning. But, on every Sunday morning, my dad would start frying up some deliciousness that was good 'ol bacon and eggs, sunny side up. he always managed to cook the whites through and the yolks would just eplode when you poked them with the fork. Then you eat the eggs and swab off the plate with some toast, mmmmm. Thanks for the memory...now where's that frying pan.

Definately for me, it has to be over easy. I cannot stand having my Yolks too hard. Even when I eat Hard boiled eggs, I prefer them Soft boiled, and I have enjoyed eating Poached eggs as well. For me, I prefer having something I can dip my toast into, and just savor it then as well.

When I fry my egg I like to flip it over and cook it till medium done - not solid but not overly runny... I do so enjoy a nice buttery piece of toast mopping up that luscious golden yolk.

I like my yolks like that - I like the yolks of my hard boiled eggs to look like in the picture
I like my fried eggs cooked all the way through but I like my boiled eggs to be half cooked through but not runny. I can't really handle the raw eggs thing! Although they say it's more strengthening.

me and my brother and father likes it runny and its alright with us if the egg white is not well done. unlike my sister and mother they like it well cooked because they feel its disgusting when its runny. hehe..

for me the white of the egg had to be all the way done through also. however, i both like the yolk runny and well done. there's no qualms on my side eating it well done. however, much as i like the taste of runny yolk, i have to remind myself to stop breathing for a while. it smells funny.
