I just got hooked up with DSL here after 18 long agonizing years with dialup. Now I am keeping my old AOL address but am looking to get a new email address here. I want to know your opinions on the best in your mind free emails available to us. Please give me the pros of having it and possibly the size of the mail box etxc that it will allow to have. Tell me what email you have and why you like it over any others also please? I want a new one but there's soo many out there for free. I am in the USA if that matters at all. Thanks all in advance also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love firefox too, but it's a browser, not an email program.

Hiya GRANDPA---well I have a lot of email addys actually, I have my one with my DSL service which is verizon, but rarely use, have my Mac addy, (both AREN'T free) hotmail, gmail and Yahoo. The one I use the most is my Yahoo one though--as far as "storage" space...uh, duh? Mine might actually be a bit more since I do have a paid Yahoo mail account. It's only about $19 a year, so not bad in the bargain

well! sir I have email Ids with Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. But the best one i believe is Gmail, as it revolutionized the email sites, realtime savings and html...Plus its mail box is expanding on a continuous bases, just check out the best site, its size is ticking like a clok.... east or west Gmail is the best!!!

Well, it seems from your other posts that you are fed up of junk mail, that is one of the problems with yahoo or hotmail. But with Gmail this problem is also no there.....try it once and you'll stay there... You don't need a link for it, but still here is the link http://www.gmail.com

I've had yahoo forever and love it. I don't remember what they give you for space for a free account, but I know it's a lot. I'm a member of a lot of email groups that generate hundreds of emails a day, so I upgraded to get it unlimited, I think it was $20 a year. Well worth it for me, but most people probably wouldn't need it. Yahoo is very easy to learn, user friendly. You shouldn't have any problems, though, as hi-tech as you are (wink wink). GMail is good too, but I personally have a hard time changing to another program once I get used to one. I do have an account there but rarely use it.

I am with Yahoo- have had my current email with them going on 6 yrs now. To be honest, I have no idea how much space I have there- I think it may be unlimited. I can tell you I have 1365 messages in my main inbox folder right now and over 700 in all the other ones. I've had more than that at times and never had a storage issue. lol. Let's see...I don't really know how any of the other ones are...sorry. My two emails are aol (free there, too) and Yahoo. I prefer Yahoo and I can't really tell you why- it must be the screen, user friendliness, etc. Nothing major. My biggest complaint with aol free is that you have no tech support- if you try to use the 'contact us' feature, you are told you have to upgrade. My hubby uses gmail and msn for his emails...but he doesn't do NEARLY the amount as I do. However, he has had them for at least a couple of years now and hasn't had any problems. Again, I can't give specifics.

I use Yahoo.. and I've got like three or four accounts with them (to keep the mylot mail separate from the other.. and another separate from others (for my website). Two are for mylot, so if one gets so full, I switch my address with mylot.. right now in this email account using today, I have 306 (306!?) messages right now.. er yes, I'm lagging just a little behind.. but what with it being all mylot mail if I get too far behind, I'll just "delete all" and start over! I save some too for slow days.. (ha ha! til I never get to them and delete too). All day while on the computer yahoo is my first tab and I use new tabs to be able to go back and forth a lot.. I go and delete the tag of the message I just responded to, while "tag this" is loading.. and move around like that.. Yep, I'm sold on yahoo.. and like to visit then yahoo groups once in awhile, even though it doesn't pay, and also yahoo answers which as you may know is a question and answer huge forum..

Well i do have 3 different e-mails they are hotmail, gmail and yahoo of course they are free... However I like Gmail the best you have more room for all your e-mails and not to mention they do spam your box either.... Hotmail is good also so it Yahoo but yet Yahoo has alot of spam that goes directly to your inbox... Oh I forgot to mention Gmail does have other options as well such as a calender if you want that to set your appointment or anything like that... Just thought I'd throw that in there as well!!!

Doesn't your server allow you one free mailbox, using outlook express? Thats what I use. It is probably still the best mail service available, with all the features available. Apart from outlook express, there is hotmail & yahoo. Both are free, but can be unreliable. Worth a try I guess. Just go to www.hotmail.com to sign up. I use a variety of mail accounts for my online work. All are paid ones.

Thanks for the link also. I may stuck with yahoo that I have as well as my old reliable AOL mail for the time being. Until I can get used to this new fast service. I hated Hotmail when I had it. I can get a variety with the server I have just a matter of choice is all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I see a lot of people gave you advice, but very few gave links. Here is a link to gmail, that can help you get it for free. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7fids/freegmail/ I dont like yahoo that much either. They block too many emails, but then so do hotmail nowadays. Is it just for personal use. or other internet work that you need another email acccount for?

I don't know all of the sites here sweetheart never mind the US! I do know out of all the emails I have used in the past that Yahoo is my favourite and one of the easiest to navigate, for me at any rate! Oh and it has unlimited email storage too! xxx

When I lived in my old cottage in a village I could only get dial up. When I moved into a house on the edge of a coastal town I got broadband. It got many viruses on my computer during that first month. I had an Orange email account than decided to get a Free UK email account. I keep a Hot Mail email address that I use when I go traveling. I know friends that are happy using an email account with Yahoo. Good luck.

Wow, Congratulations You will never go back to that nasty dialup. Look at this as a new era in your life. I use hotmail personally, but I think that alot of people like gmail better than hotmail due to the xtra features it offers.

I'm glad that you finally got your DSL going. that is great to hear. There are several free email accounts you can use. I use hotmail alot. I also use Gmail too. You can also use Yahoo mail. I recommend using hotmail or gmail though. Those load alot faster and hold more emails.

I use Yahoo and haven't had any problem with them, I even have mylot discussions go directly into a folder which is really nice. Yahoo is free and unlimited space. I've heard lot of people talking about gmail, but have never switched to them because I have too many email accounts as it is already.

I heard that g-mail is good, but I have have hotmail and yahoo. I use my hotmail to store things because I hated the fact that when you opened your mail, it would disappear on another page. so I stick with yahoo for most of my mail..

i used msn and yahoo but recently i used msn because all mails received immediately. i encounter difficulties in yahoo because some of my mails received delayed. i don't know what the features of AOL because i use it only once that uninstall after few days because of loading problem with my computer. msn and yahoo give alarm if you received new mail if you install yahoo messenger or msn messenger.
