Do you play guitar?I'm learning guitat right now,but I'm a little intimidated right now. Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of learning guitar is that it initially seems impossible to play anything that actually sounds good.It takes quite a time to learn the techniques needed to play songs well. Perhaps I'm just not smart enough to pick it up quickly.I try to do as the guitar tuning tutorial, but the instrument just isn't in tune.Maybe I need more practice to keep the instrument in tune.

Ihave tried to practice several time with the help of my friends. I knew some it but after I stop rehearsing, they are also blown by the air!LOL, I can say, I find it hard since I don't have the voice and it's always contradicting! but, I wish someday, I will get a chance to learn and master even few songs!

Nope, i dun play guitar at all.. BUt i like the music and melody from a guitar.. They sound so nice to me and maybe i like country songs, that's y i like guitar tunes and melody.. They just sound so comfortable and soothing to me.. haha But too bad i dun have the interst in learning it.. I've seen my fren learning it from another fren.. The process is fun and equally frustrating too, especially for the learner.. Because when they play together and one of them play the wrong note, they will have to restart the whole song again.. In the end, my fren took almost 3 months juts to learn 1 song, and that's still without the basics..

I have tried to play a guiter in my past but not here recently. I just cannot get it to play right for nothing. I cannot get my fingers to move right. My brother-in-law did teach me a few things with his bass guitar but I have already forgot all of it now. It is just too hard for me to make my fingers do what they need to do.

I play a little. What type of guitar are you learning? I play an acoustic, so I mostly just learn the back up melody. I started to learn about 5 years ago, and trust me it is hard. But if you have a true desire to learn it, don't put the ax down! Some things you can do to get your hands acclimated to the instrument: ~Practice writing with your left hand. Just write your name and the abc's. This will get your left hand more used to being used. Unless you're picking, your left hand does the majority of the work. ~Get a chart of the basic chords and practice them. Just place your fingers in position and strum a few times, then transition to another chord. ~Get an electric tuner if don't already have one, this takes the guess work out of tuning, and its much faster than doing it by ear. Tune you ax every time you pick it up. ~Don't try to jump into your favorite songs. Get yourself a simple children's guitar song book. Most of these songs will have only a few chord transitions, and this will help your hands get used to moving in the right direction. ~One last thing, my instructor(for only a half a year cuz I moved away) was a bit of an eclectic person. The best advice he gave me was to feel the guitar like I'm feeling myself. Get to know your ax, and get personal with it. Feel the strings, like they are a part of you. Good luck, and don't give up!

Hey there Gxnfly! When i was a kid i wanted to play the guitar but my parents never bought me one . Last year i had a fiend that lent me his old guitar and said he'll teach me. After a few long lessons i came to the conclusion that it is not for me as i managed to forget really fast everything. My fingers hurt from pressing the chords and i gave it up. I hope things turn out better for you. Good luck and take care!

i had a guitar lesson once in my highschool year. i think it was when i was 1st year. it was the instrument we decided on in our music class and our teacher knows how to play it. but in my 2nd year onwards i stopped coz there are too many things to do. hehe.. it is difficult to learn how to play the guitar. one must remember that 'rome wasnt built in a day' therefore it is okay for you to get frustrated and think that you cant do it and etc. but even if you think that you have to realize that the more you practice the more you get better and better at it along the way. i never learned how to tune the guitar really well also but i can key into it once in awhile. i think the most important thing you have to do is to listen to the tune the guitar gives out. watch carefully the stumming motions if it up, down down, up, up, down.. things like that. and practice stretching your hands so you can reach longer chords. you can also watch video tutorials that are found in youtube. there are actually really good video tutorials in there. and in memorizing chords it would help if you play one song at a time. play an easy song 1st over and over until you can memorize it and then move up to another level until you memorize that until you will get into the harder chords. dont worry.... you will do great

I bought a guitar a couple of years ago and tried to learn to play it. I didn't have much luck with it. I think I need an actual tutor to show me how.

I do play the guitar and it is hard at first.Picking up playing any instrument doesn't have to do with being smart or not. But keep practicing and you get it.

Well I really think it is tough, so I agree. I haven't ever personally done it but I was outside with a friend and an old school mate who was / whos family is my grandparents neighbor... when he was teaching the friend. He got so aggravated at her. Is there anyway that you can find an instructor other then a tuning video (I assume)? That may be a bit more personal and they can tell you whether you need better strings, or whatnot... Not sure what it is to tune a guitar.

Oh my, I wish I could play it. I really love to learn how to play the guitars, but I ended up playing the piano. I really envy those who can play it well. But I guess it's not too late for me to learn.

The best way to learn guitar is to learn a few chords. Most of the songs people know are all built around the same chords. Don't worry about all the fancy things until you have a good grasp of the chords. Learn to play the G chord, D chord, C chord, and E minor chord. If you can play those chords, you can play a ton of songs. Those are the chords for Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison and Last Kiss by Pearl Jam. You can also play Sweet Child of Mine once you have learned the A chord. Just practice the chords and moving from one to the other, then put in the CD and play along.

You just need some more time practicing :) the first time i learn to play guitar i was a deaf tone, can't even tune the guitar right, so i just play the guitar not in tune LOL the important thing in playing guitar for me is i must enjoy it, so i just pick the song i like (for beginner just choose a simple song, don't choose a complicated one, otherwise u'll get frustrated easily), i started to learn how to play it, checking the tab if i can't find the chords :p till i can play it. As time goes by u'll find yourself getting better and better, of course as long as u keep practicing :p it takes times to be a great guitar player, even the professional guitar player spends at least 8 hours/day just for practicing :p

Well, I play guitar . Its take time to learn techniques there , but its not tough . Keep faith in you and give time to practice. It will come very soon . Tune comes from heart . If some thing is going on there , you can let it come on guitar and that will be your tune . Guitar classes will only give you the techniques ,not tune .... Thanks !!!

Hi gxnfly, I play guitar too. I love it before i can play it. Sure it takes time to practice but i am sure you can do it easily. Pick one song that you love and ask you guitar teacher to seek of the chords for you. So that you are not borring to play the lesson and finger practice. Come one! You can do it!!!

Hi gxnfly! "Practice makes perfect", that is what i usually hears from my elders and teachers before. And I think that holds true. I think you will succeed in learning how to play the guitar as long as you are determined and you put your heart into it. I don't know how to play the guitar and I am not going to start to learn one. I am quite contented in just listening to those who play the guitar. haha..Good luck and I know you can do it! Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

i agree that learning guitar need to practice more so that you got it right to the key needed, i remember when i am learning also, i felt very hard because it hurt my finger but when you know already one song, you are more eager to practice more.

I once heard an old saying, "practice makes perfect". I don't know about perfection, but it sure makes you a lot better. Who knows, maybe in the future you can put on a mini concert for your mylot friends.
