i've not read a good book for a long time now. i miss it but i seem to not have the time nor the energy. lots of times, i'd like to read before sleeping but usually, i have my kids around before going to sleep. and since i put them to sleep, as soon as they fall into deep slumber, i follow too. recently, while i was in hongkong, there was a storm and there was nowhere to go on foot so my friend and i stayed at page one (a bookstore) and i browsed through lots of books. i jotted down the books i liked and promised myself i'd get them when i get back to the philippines. but up till now, i haven't got them. what are good books you've been reading lately? what do you recommend?

One of my favorite novels is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time". It's a terrific book that is about an autistic boy who documents his investigation into his neighbor's dog's murder. It's really not about the dog, but the boy who is the narrator in the book. The person who wrote it has a good understanding of autistic people.

i have an autisitic cousin. i think he's in his late 20s now and he lives with his mom and dad in california. his dad (my mom's brother) comes every year here in the philippines to arrange purchasing a lot and building a house so that the three of them can retire here someday. i've never encountered my autistic cousin coz he was born and grew up in the u.s. and i sort of wonder what he's like. maybe i should get this book and understand these people, so i will be able to interact with my cousin when he comes here.

i've read mitch albom's "tuesdays with morrie" and liked it a lot although it felt tragic in the end. i've started "the da vinci code" but never got around to finishing it until the movie came out. so i just watched it. i'll check out lois lowry... thanks!
