Have you ever tried turkey burgers?

Last week my spouse discovered ground turkey at the grocery store. And, he has been asking me to make turkey burgers ever since. He likes them so far and says they taste just like beef. That's a pretty big compliment, since he used to love beef. He can't have it anymore. Sometimes I mix hot pepper or diced onions in with the raw turkey before forming the burger patty and grilling on the George Foreman grilling machine. How do you like your turkey burger? What are your favorite burger or turkey burger spices? Do you eat it just like a beef burger with ketchup and mustard?

I have had turkey burgers a few times. They are pretty good. Not quite the same as ground beef, but pretty close. I made meat loaf burgers a few times using ground turkey and a meat loaf seasoning packet from the grocery store.I use ground turkey in place of ground beef in a lot of recipes.

I've eaten turkey burgers, buffalo burgers and also ostrich burgers. All were tasty but the buffalo is really tough. I like all my burgers with mayp, a slice of raw onion and sliced tomato on them. Maybe a little lettuce once in awhile. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~,

Buffalo is a little drier, because it is so lean. I am going to come to your house for burgers, cause that is just the way I like them, too.

I eat buffalo burgers quite often. They need to be cooked at a lower heat for less time than beef. They're really good like that.

We use turkey sometimes in place of beef in some dishes. My family isn't big on burgers, though, so we don't make just plain turkey burgers. The only time we ever really make burgers at home is when we are grilling, and that's maybe once a year. Usually we grill steaks or chicken instead.

Mostly I do turkey burgers on the days that I'm super busy doing everything else. They cook up in just minutes on the George Foreman grill and you can garnish with all the traditional condiments like ketchup and such. Plus you can use them for tacos, casseroles, noodle dishes and manwiches. I guess that's why I like it so much.

Actually I just purchases some turkey burger patties a few weeks ago for the first time. I made them and my family (husband and 3 kids) all really liked them, I did too. I thought they were great and it was nice knowing that we were eating something that taste so good and was so much better for us than a regualar beef hamburger. I too, made ours on our George Forman grill and they were wonderful, and it is amazing how much less grease came from the turkey burger compared to the hamburger. We just cook ours and dress it up like a beef hamburger. Now your discussions has me hungry for a cheeseburger...lol

It's so ironic that I would have posted this about the turkey. Cause that very night my spouse purchased taco fixings with real beef. He was supposed to get ground turkey, instead. And, I don't have the heart to tell him I don't like eating beef anymore, because of the cow. I love cows! He's a sweetie! He does his best. That's all that can be asked.

I don't think I have ever eatten a turkey burger. I guess it would be healthier for you then beef right? I wouldn't mind trying it out. Thats a good idea since I want to go on the south beach diet next month and its sort of like the atkins diet which you watch your carbs but I was told that you can have more fruit and veggies. Thanks for the idea.

Let me know how the diet works out. I've been thinking of trying that South Beach diet too. I read really good things about it. Best of luck!

My daughter got me into eating turkey burgers. We purchase them from the super market like hamburgers. I have purchased the turkey ground beef and used it with spaghetti and that is great too with the spices of your choice.

I do not buy much meat, as hubby eats at work and I buy groceries from a co op monthly. I have bought turkey burger, I will say that you still need to check the percentage of fat, as you can get some really fat turkey meat as well. I have a job where I shop and cook for people and I always buy ground turkey. We cook it and serve it just like beef. I use it in chili at home all of the time.

Certainly, turkey can still have some fat, but cow beef has almost 30 grams of fat per burger (before cooking). My spouse seems to do better health wise when he has turkey burgers vs. ground cow beef burgers. And, there's another reason we don't have beef burgers anymore. Lately I have a natural aversion to wanting to kill cows for food. I'm not a vegan, so I don't know where those feelings are coming from. I think my cow beef burger aversion happened after I saw a video of how they kill the cows. There was a beef processing plant (where they kill the cows) out in California that gave their cows electric shocks and broke their legs before killing them. The cows were prisoners and mistreated horribly. Living conditions for the animals were miserable and many were sick. They lived in pain until the end. Most of the beef was then sold to schools and such. Very sad and cruel. Sad for the cows and sad for the kids that had to eat potentially diseased beef. The poor animals are going to die anyway. Why torture them before the end? It's not their fault we have to eat.

I don't like turkey burgers as much as I like turkey chili. In fact, that is what we are having tonight! It is true that ground turkey is much more like ground beef than ground chicken or pork is. When I make turkey burgers I like the them with onions and sage. This gives them a bit of a thanksgiving feel, which I really like.

Hi there! No, I haven't tried turkey burgers. They're not really popular here in our country. Though I've tasted turkey meat before when I was in elementary. It was good.

I cook ground turkey burgers on the stovetop fried in olive oil with fresh onions on top. Cooking turkey burgers this way also makes it taste just like beef! Like your spouse, my husband can't really eat beef since he had a heart attack 3.5 years ago. The seasonings I usually put in my turkey burgers are just salt, pepper, garlic (either fresh or powdered), basil and oregano. And of course ketchup on top once the burgers are done! My hubby LOVES turkey burgers now that I cook them the same as meat burgers :) Unfortunately for my husband though, I MUST eat red meat otherwise I get light-headed and pass out... something to do with the protein in meat that my body needs which is due to me having thalassemia (mediterrean-form of anemia). So, once a month I cook steak despite his heart condition. But I make sure it's the lean kind of steak, which my hubby's cardiologist recommended.

I really like turkey burgers. I had tried soy burgers previously, and I really did not like them. Needless to say, I was skeptical at first. However, turkey burgers on the grill with a little seasoning can be very satisfying. You get the taste of a summer sandwich without the high fat and cholesterol content. I highly recommend them, and your heart will thank you too!

Turkey burgers are good, but they don't taste anything like beef to me. I like them with mayonnaise and lettuce on rye. I tried them on a wheat bun with mustard and regular hamburger condiments, but didn't care for them at all.

My family loves burgers, but the don;t eat them often because beef burgers are loaded with fats and stuff. xD I've never been a fan of hamburgers, or red meat for that matter, but I tried making the burgers with ground turkey for my sister and mom and they loved it! They said it tastes and looks just like ground beef. I did some research on the nutrition facts and ground turkey has 80% less fat that ground beef.

I haven't tried turkey burgers yet, but I have eaten turkey sausage and turkey bacon. They both tasted very good. I bought some soy burgers last month with a coupon I had, but I didn't care for them. They tasted like Stove Top stuffing. No amount of condiments could mask the taste. The only soy "meat" product I've liked so far is Quorn's Chik'n Nuggets.

Hi. beautyqueen26. I have never tried it, but I love it too. I have cooked ground lean turkey before at my aunt's house and it is just delicious! I told her that I plan to cook with this type of ground meat more often. If I cooked it, I would eat it with ketchup and mustard.

We switched to ground turkey about a year ago, after I found out I had high cholesterol. Our favorite turkey burgers are the frozen jennie-o ones. The come already seasoned with I think 8 to a box. They are delicious. Add a little lettuce, pickles, and mayonnaise. Doesn't get much better.
