Oil, Gas and Commodity prices: Is there hope?

Hi everyone,
I dont know about you, but I am losing a fortune with the high cost of oil and other energy and commodity prices. I have done a number of things to try and save money and not drive so much but it just seems to keep going up. There are ways to make money off all of this (which is why it is going up so much), but you have to have some money in the first place and then you can invest. I have included a link to bloomberg for the commodity page which shows the ticker for the oil, energy and commodity prices and will actually chart the change over years in chart form. I wish I was smarter...and maybe I could make some money out of this. :) What do you think about all this? The oil companies are making a fortune at our expense. I think it's stupid because more and more people are finding ways to stop using traditional energy sources and the oil companies' profits will begin to drop. After awhile, they'll be the ones hurting.
But right now, I don't know what to do. I, too, am doing things to cut the energy bill, like hanging my laundry outside to dry instead of using the dryer. I'm buying solar panels and batteries and slowly getting myself off of the electric grid. I'm sure other's are doing the same thing.
I would not invest in the energy companies because sooner or later, they are going to start losing money and it will be their own fault for being so greedy now.

I'm not sure what I think about it. I am so afraid to invest in anything because I do not have the money to risk losing. I am not sure if there is any hope as far as gasoline goes, in our future. I think they need to get away from gas as much as possible and come up with something new that will be cheaper and cleaner to use anyway. these prices ar hurting alot of people and I do not know how they expect us to live and keep paying for it.
