Don't you hate it when talking banner ads interrupt your music online?

Lately, I've been turning my speakers down with I go suring online. Mostly, because I don't want to get ambushed by those bogus "You've just won!" announcements. I hate those. They scare my cat. I guess they're a fact of life for anyone that spends time online. But, they're still annoying and bogus. They drown out my music and freeze up my computer. Do you turn your speakers down when you go web surfing? Or, do you leave them up to enjoy your favorite music and then become annoyed when a banner ad or other audio web content plays over top of it?

Well, there are one or two of those sites, but the music playing in the background usually dampens any sound from the browser. But I hate those smiley's sounds. Recently due to the popularity of IMing and chatting, a new versions of smilies were available on the internet. Smilies that make sound when inserted in the chat windows. That was sick as I would hear a cat meowing in the background or a lion growling or mindless giggling .. . That would drive me nuts , as their volume levels are really high and they rend to dampen the sound from my media player.. bourne

Wow! I have not seen those. I think I've heard them, but I had no idea where the sound was coming from. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well it depends on the content. I agree, sometimes it is very annoying. Especially some sites with loud sound effects that are unnecessary. Banner adds with sound effect, most of the time... I hate 'em. I do like some sites with cool background music though. :)

I keep the speakers down any time I am on the computer, turning them up only occasionally
