I was watching the news this morning and on the report they said that in two years gas prices can be $7 a gallon!
I would not be able to afford to go anywhere, not even to the doctor if needed or even the store. I don't live close to a bus line either and too far from a store to walk or ride a bike because of health issues.
I wonder how many would even be able to afford to goto work if gas prices get that high in just a couple of years.
Why should the owners and CEO's of the gas companies be allowed to rake in BILLIONS
in profit sales? Congress had called them in to talk about this and the gas companies said that they reinvest the money! To where? Not to do better for world, only to pad thier pockets with more money.
So, what will you do when or if it gets to $7 a gallon?

Well I guess if it gets to $7 a gallon everyone will have to quit work and go on government assistance. And since groceries would go up more to I guess we will need food stamps too.
Is this not nuts? Someone ought to be able to do something about this mess!

Don't look for the government to help you out if it comes to that. They will make it even harder to qualify for assistance and the assistance less. There is no silver lining to this until the government steps up and gets out of the fuel companies pockets and does the right thing. Don't look for it to happen though.

Not much cause I wouldn't be able to afford to do much. I am fortunate that the 6 months a year that I work I can ride my electric scooter to and from work. I can't ride it to the grocery store though. I may have to break down and save money for a more powerful electric scooter that I can ride to the store. Times are hard and getting harder each day and the government won't do a d**n thing about it.

I don't know how people who don't make much money or who don't work at is getting by with the price that gas is at now. I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up and I work 2 decent paying jobs. I guess if gas gets too high I'll just have to work more or find a job in walking distance from my house. The food prices will keep climbing too.

Modern day pirates!
Even with the federal minimum wage increase coming in a few months, I just don't see how some families will be able to afford gasoline to drive to work. How can a gallon of gasoline cost $7 a gallon when minimum pay is only $6.55 before taxes are deducted? I am very concerned about the welfare of indigent families and single parent families, who are barely getting by as it is. Something needs to happen here...QUICKLY!

Right now the only things that we have is my son's SSI and we pay the rent with that. I started using the taxi to goto appointments but they only cover 15 round trips in a year! So I have to be picky about which ones I use for my appointments.
I can't work due to health concerns and I am fighting with SSI right now to get approved. I have been out of work for 5 years now.
With the price of food going up, I pay out the same amount for less food.

While not affected by gas prices directly (I don't drive and I don't own a car, because I can't see well enough to drive) I know gas prices would affect things like bus and cab fare and DEINITELY airare. If gas prices eer got that high, I'd have to re-think my travel plans and find a cheaper way to get around.

If gas gets that high, and I still like this job I have, I'm going to have to learn to ride a harley and take that to work.
