Full Moon?

My Buster - Buester was howling at something he smelled.

The tale is wolves howl at the full moon. My Buster howls all too often. I love it but sometimes I am sure the neighbors are not please at night when he howls. Well during the day I let it slide as that's his nature, to howl at things he smells or sees. So yesterday sitting on the back porch with a friend Buster starting sniffing the air then started his howling. It was so cute sounding and looking. Well the neighbor beside us was outside and started laughing and said, :That's who I hear at night. I thought we had wolves in the neighborhood." I thought that was funny. They are not upset with Busters hiowling just thought it was cute. I do not let him howl late at night. After 9 at night if he howls he gets scolded slightly then brought indoors. Do you have neighbors that love your dog/cat/pets? Do you allow your neighbors to feed them treats at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We have a 17 pound male (fixed) cat that we keep outdoors but even though we pay for his upkeep he is the neighborhood cat as everyone feeds him (no wonder he is so big) and lets him in thier houses. Everyone knows Andre. Our dogs are indoor dogs so the neighbors don't have an opportunity to feed them.

That is cute, I love beagles..Our neighbors better not be bothered by my dog, because their dog does much worse than mine..As for allowing them to give my dog treats, I do give their dog treats and I wouldn't mind if the one neighbor did, but I absolutely don't want the other neighbor to, I want them to not know my dog and have some fear of her.. That is because for one, we don't get along and for two, years ago when we had our dalmatian, this lady tried walking into our home when we were not here and our dalmatian growled at her, forcing her back out..Her excuse for walking into our home while we were gone? She was leaving a Christmas gift and had trouble catching us at home..That was BS, because I am home all during the week, she wanted more than that, she wanted to see if she could get something on us to get us kicked out..This lady has hated us since she moved in..

Our old neighbors that moved a couple years ago were great. they had a black lab and the two dogs loved visiting. So we would switch off ever so often letting them run in each others yard. Plus their 3 kids would run up and down the property line trying to beat Buster to the other end. I do not have any neighbors like yours thanfully. Bummer for you. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah,w ell the other neighbor, I allow my dog to play with and I don't mind either their dog coming over or my dog visiting..It is just the one and I wouldn't mind the dogs playing together, but like I said, I don't want her to know them too well...

Good neighbors are a treasure! Our big, old black lab only howls when one of us gets home.. burglers, arsonists.. don't worry, she just howls when a family member drives in.. This of course is because she's so happy and is just spreadin' the joy! Full moon? Not her.. I, however, may start though, just for the fun of it, but our neighbors aren't close enough to be bothered much..

i didn't have a pet at the moment grandpa... but i have a neighbour recently who own a dog and it keeps on barking late at night... me and my hubby are not too pleased with it as it disturbs our sleep and we ended up getting very tired when we wake up in the morning to go to work... take care and have a nice day...

Here's a suggestion. If it barks late at night, get dressed, yes a big inconvienence at that late hour, then go knock on the neighbors. They will not be pleased at being disturbed either. Then voice your feelings and ask if they could remedy the barking late at night. Good luck. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

There are pets in the neighborhood but they are not like friendly to people. No one but my father feeds his dog. Plus he's behind a fence 24/7. But there are other dogs in the neighborhood that go around in other people yards marking space even if they don't live there. Sometimes Brouno howls but not all of the time.

Buster is fenced in as well but the neighbors asked about milk bones etc for him and I said sure why not. So their kids feed him ever so often. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I never let Izzy visit the neighbors. She stays inside unless we are out with her. Our cat though is a wanderer!! i have just moved here so I am not sure if the neighbors fed him or not, but htey have female that is most likely going to have some kittens soon and he has been getting something over there, and I am sure he thinks it is a treat!! LOL

Hi GRANDPA BOB! haha..You have a kind neighbor there. He must love and understand dogs. Our neighbors admire one of our dogs but they can't get near him because he is fierce looking although he is very friendly. One of our neighbors always send treats to our dogs but she is always scared to be near them. haha.. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

We're fortunate to have a very understanding neighbor. I think I've mentioned in one of your past discussion that my dog, a German Shepherd loved to howl at midnight. And my neighbor, being superstitious, deeply believed that Ashley sees ghosts at night, and that's why she kept howling. Anyway, my neighbors love to look at our dog. I think it's because of her size. She's the biggest in our subdivision and compared to local dogs, she's more than a couple size bigger. That's why people who walks past our house are amazed at her size. They don't dare feed her though. They're still a little hesitant to give her treats. They're still afraid that she might attack them. But there was a time when we were late going home. My male neighbor told me that he thought Ashley was hungry. So he threw her some food but Ashley didn't eat it.

Well if Buster sees a ghost I want to know so I can get a photo of it and make a ton of cash. Joking aside, Buster is all the neighbors buddy as he does run around when he gets free. But so far each time someone brought him home or he has returned himself after awhile. German Shepards have a look that a lot of people fear. Buster is too friendly looking and that's why everyone asks to give him a treat. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I doubt my neighbors are too fond of my bow-wow,cuz he has a big mouth. He loves to bark at people going up and down the road minding their own business. One thing though he doesn't bark at night. Fortunatley for all of us, he goes to bed early!

When we first got Buster we had the police called on us often. The final time the police sat in their car 2 houses away and listened to him and when and why he barked. They came to my door telling me everything id fine he is just a protective dog but to manage the howling and all especially after dark. SO now I have not had them called again from the neighbor behind us. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The 6 year old neighbor boy voted my dog as the nicest dog in the cul 'd' sac and, in his little area of the neighborhood. I have a huge black lab. But, he is as gentle as a kitten. His tail can take out an adult but, when he gets around children, his tail slows down and he gets careful while remaining happy and playful. He seems to understand his size and, those who he manages to win over from the side of fear just based solely on his size, love him. When I say he is huge, I mean, his is 120 lbs of muscle. His mom and dad were 140 and 160 lbs so, he was built huge. And, he was the runt of the litter so, I can't even begin to imagine how big his brothers and sisters are. LOL! We trained him well too. We taught him not to jump as we knew that he would be big and he could injure someone if he was allowed to jump. We also taught him how to take treats with his front teeth and lips so gently you will never feel even a little bit of him. My hubby will hold a chip in his lips and Frizbee will take it really gently from him without even touching his face at all. In order to teach him how to be so gentle, we had to teach him the word "Ouch" and, we will use it if he does take a treat and touches us with his lips at all. We like to make sure he never forgets how to take things gently and he is really good at it. I never let him bark longer than it takes me to make him come in or be quiet if he wants to stay outside because, there is a dog in our neighborhood that barks somewhere near my house and, our backyard neighbors "accused" us of it being our dog. It took some time before we could convince them of our dog's innocence. I would hazard to guess that they tried to catch my dog in the act one night. They probably peered over the fence to see him barking, only to see that it was indeed, not my dog. I don't let my dog annoy others. Even if he wouldn't, I don't give him that chance because I live in a neighborhood of snobs. Not all of them, but a lot of them! LOL! One of my other neighbors brags about my dog to her friends because she is always amazed at how gentle he is around her daughter while he can whip that tail like no one's business at an adult! LOL! But, I bet it is cute when your dog howls at the moon or some scent, perhaps of a lady dog! LOL!

oh this is my second attempt first one went into the ionsphere' when I hit post response. try again I have no dog as I am in an ap;artment but across the hedge the people in the condos have a dog who barks each and every night. I think Old Mr. Possum comes down from the hills and waddles right in front of the dog then crawls throught the hedge and under my fence and proceeds to break into my garbage and makes a big mess. thenold Mr. POssum waddles back into the condo's yard and teases the dog who I think is chained there. I sometimes yell oh shut up but the only thing that causes is my next door neighbor to yell at me. lol

My dogs howl too but they do it in the morning which reminds us that it is their feeding time.If they howl at night, well I think that they heard other dogs howl,or they saw a stranger or a cat passing by.I do love my neighbors' pets and they love me too especially when I spend some time to play with them or stroking them.

My chihuahua doesn't howl but she sure can be a load annoying door bell. My neighbors do feed my cats tuna once in awhile. I don't mind that they do this.

My 84 year old neighbour tells me she loves hearing my dog bark. It makes her feel safer. We have an alley between the houses which used to be used by teenagers but the dog scares them! (One advantage of a Shepherd with their very loud bark) She does only bark when there's a reason, and she obeys the quiet command, but I did worry at first that it would upset her. Shepherds sadly aren't everyones 'favourite' breed. However I'm very lucky I live on a block of 6 houses and 3 are dog owners, one a cat owner who likes dogs, and I have both, the 5th is empty. If not loved she's certainly accepted! They all are! She's a very friendly but calm dog. The howler lives at the opposite end but we never hear him at night. He's a hound cross of some kind and so I'd be surprised if he didn't howl! I like the noise! I don't find it unpleasant or frightening. We never hear the Labrador unless he's playing with the children, and it's always such a happy puppy bark but the 3 Yorkies can make quite a noise when they start. I'm not sure if they howl or not, I've never heard them! My dog only howls to certain music, and at my attempts to sing or play a keyboard! As she's usually indoors when she does it I don't think the neighbours hear her. I hope they don't hear me! I've had to ask my neighbours not to feed my dogs or cats in the past, so I do it automatically now. They rarely get bought treats. However because they know this ones on a raw food diet they often ask if she would like the scraps they have. I think they still see her as the 'skinny' girl she was when we rescued her! I don't give the others treats either, unless you count Willow sending the Yorkies a Christmas present. I'm sure your neighbours appreciate your curtesy. We do unfortunately have one neighbour who doesn't seem to care if his dog howls or barks late at night. I find it as annoying as anyone else would! Buster sounds like a real 'character' and I bet he's a fun dog to have around!

our dogs bark endlessly especially at night i think our neighbors are probably annoyed by it coz i know i am... but our youngest and spoiled dog doesn't bark much but only when she wants something and she'll never stop barking until she gets what she wants... i find it kinda cute that way... i love her!!!!
