its amazing to me how people act

whenever i come into a new situation or surrounded by new people with which i am unfamiliar, i tend to not say anything. people usually mistake this for either arrogance or shyness. but, i'm really just getting accustomed to my new environment. i found that some people go into a situation completely open and say and/or do things that they tend to regret. if you just take your time and really pay attention to what is going on around you, you'd be amazed at the trouble that you stay out of. are you one of those people that sits back and observes? or do you rush into the conversation?

I sit back and observe for a little while. But if a subject comes up that I happen to know something about or have experienced it, I will eventually jump in.

If the topic is something I know about, I'll put my two cents in. Although I have experienced some people looking at me when I have done this, as though I was intruding or they looked at me as if to say, Who asked you?? I really have to learn to observe before I jump in.
