Just tell me how can some parents be so cruel to their children???

I do not normally do any discussions about stories in the news, but I have just been reading my online paper and I have broken my heart with a story I have just read.
I heard this story on the news the other day but the details were a bit sketchy but The Sun has run a story on it and I just cannot believe how cruel some parents are.
Basically ambulances were called to a house, and when they got there they found a 7 year old girl in a state of emaciation, she was dead, her 3 brothers and 2 sisters were gathered around their sisters body and they were all badly undernourished. According to the story she asked the ambulance crew to "get it out". She intended on starving them all to death.

I honestly cannot believe that this happened, that no one knew, no one noticed and this poor little girl was starved to death in a street full of neighbours. What must she have gone through? Can you even begin to imagine?
I could not do that to my babies, how can anyone be so cruel and heartless?

I have no idea how to respond to this sweetheart - how any mother can bear to see their child suffer at all is beyond my comprehension but to starve them is beyond belief! I did see on tv that the so called mother went mad at neighbours for feeding one of the children bread - it turned out the kids were so hungry they were eating bread that the neighbours had thrown out for the birds!
If we had our child(ren) out of school for more than 10 weeks I know social workers would be here knocking the door down! It is so awful that these children had to suffer and that one little angel had to die before anything was done to help the rest! xxx

I just do not understand how no one could notice mummymo, the neighbours said the little girl was a lovely little thing, so how come no one noticed? It is awful, I just cannot believe that it has happened.

I would like to think if that happened in my street I would know there was something wrong but would we really? It is so, so sad and I think if we could only have more 'community spirit' these days that people wouldn't be able to be so cruel and evil! xxx

it is only certain types of people, gemini, who are capable of doing these horrific things. Every time I hear of such a story it causes me to shed a few tears.
Some people are so self-absorbed that they don't care for anyone but themselves. Probably some of the neighbors were aware of the situation, but, as so often happens, they chose to remain silent. People are often afraid to get involved for whatever reasons and that is just sad.

Those parents had to have been totally sick, and mentally
ill to starve their own kids. my heavens most parents
would do whatever it took to keep their kids feed
so these had to be very very sick persons. why did not
the neighbors see the situation and do something. one
reporter said that they had seen the kids take bread
away from the pigeons so that should have been a clue
that the kids were starving.If nothing else they could
as a last resort have gave their children up to somone else who
could feed them.

When i first hear the story I couldnt believe what i was hearing..in this day and age we have such things happening in our so called civilised world.The parents of these poor children have no place in our society to my mind,and that is plain speaking.Ive just been to supper with some friends and one of them works in the courts representing children in court,and her feelings were that the services had let them down so badly,if they had checke and received no answer at the door ,then they should have revisited,if by revsiting they still got no joy,the should have attained an order of entry to check that the children were being cared for adequately.It just beggars belief.

It is awful, I am just so saddened for those poor children, this country has let them down, yet again, what must they have gone through.

Hi, gemini_rose,
I felt sad every time there is news about parents mistreat their kids. I too couldn't understand why they heart harded to mistreat their kids. Aren't they bring them to this world out of love? Aren't they know that it's our natural responsibility to provide and care for their kids?
It's definitely not the right thing to punish kids in such a way even though we are stressed up or facing toughness in life. I just hope that those news will teach us a valuable lesson and more and more people will think twice before they want to have kids.

It is horrible to hear things like this, I will never understand why people have children and then treat them like this, poor babies are so innocent and do not have a choice but to do what the parents say. It makes me so sad when I hear stories of children duffering I wish I could take every one of them into my home.

deep on my heart, i believe parents always love their children no matter how but due to some reason (condition and pressure perhaps) they becomes harsh and cruel to their children.
what you mentioned in here is quit shocked me, dear but i really have now idea why this circusmstances can be happened. something sure, parents most of time like to show their power in mentally and phisyc to their children when they feel unsecure without they realizing

I've never figured out why people who don't want children continue to have them. And if they do have them, why don't they give them up for adoption instead of mistreating them? The agony that child endured is heart-wrenching. And the siblings were probably awaiting the same fate. Thank goodness that it came to light in time to save some of them. Other people just don't want to get involved. I've worked in child care and teaching for many years, and it never gets easier to report suspected abuse. For instance, and four years ago we turned in a family with 3 boys who were always black and blue. Social services investigated, found that the mother was indeed beating her children within an inch of their lives. They took her children away for 3 months and then gave them back to her.

This is shocking and sick. You know it would have taken quite a long time. The mother has to be mentally unstable. Good grief! Glad the other kids were rescued. Can you imagine their emotional trauma!

There is absolutely no way to know why a person or persons would do something like that. They are mentally ill, there is no question.
It is against every law of nature for a mother to allow their child to suffer at all, much less to be the cause of that suffering. I would die attempting to provide for my children.
I pray for them all.

Any one that would do this to any child is not human, and any parent that would do something like this to their own child is not a parent and knows nothing about parenting and is missing the love that comes when you first feel your child moving inside of you and the anticipation of holding that child in your arms and loving, and protecting him or her. If my child falls or gets a small cut I bleed inside. But this world of ours is not only beautiful it is sometimes also very cruel. The mother or any mother that did or would do this to her child should be put thru the same thing that child went thru because in situations like this i believe in an eye for an eye.

i live with it every day...
my brothers living with us are not my real brothers, but my foster brother.
they have gone through really tough times and we live with it everyday...
my youngest brother will be really difficult to manage whenhe comes home from his parents, even after staying with them for a day...
i really hate living like this sometimes, because it shows that some people do not live with their actions..

I think that when they are this bad, they are majorly, mentally ill, don't you think? I can't fathom anyone being in their right mind and doing this, can you?

Stories that include any form of child abuse makes me sick. I am a parent and I could not imagine doing anything to harm any child. It is so upsetting to hear about any parent intending to kill their children. I don't understand why these abusive parents don't give their children a chance. If they are going to hurt them why dont they just send them to a foster home? There are parents out there that will not harm any child, and some are unable to have children of their own.
I am sorry but this is just verry upsetting!

We cannot begin to know the mind of someone who would commit this kind of unthinkable act upon their children. Obviously, the parents of these children are mentally ill and you and I can't imagine the inner workings of their minds. Nor would we want to.

Hi gemini, I agree this has to be one of the most tragic stories I have ever read. It is impossible for most of us to fathom such a thing. It is strange that the mother called for someone to come and get the body, she must have known that she would be charged. How anyone could do this to their children, is something I cannot comprehend. Hopefully, this may prevent something like this from happening again. Blessings.

In ismilar way today mornin i saw fether killing 14 year year old daughter. He was at fault accordin to her an she was at fault according him who is the accused? that gal is so pretty so young why man becomes so self centered an stone hearted............

I have read the whole news .It's realy a kind of action that cannot be understand .It's said that the family members all are Muslim .As i know there are some special worship among them .Like the food ,there are the special muslim food .We really don't know the thoughts of the woman ,how she could did this.But her action really should be condemned and stopped ...We still need to do more for protecting our children...
