Do you think online shopping will become more popular with gas being so costly?

The price of gas is going through the roof! Do you think that more people will shop online -- to save the price of gas with not running errands to do their shopping for their chores? I have to admit that I am doing more and more online shopping when I have errands like buying a gift for a baby shower or needing a new pair of shoes. So I'm wondering if others are doing the same.

Funny, I was just thinking about this. As you know, the post office just raised rates again. So, it will cost more to ship. So, I wonder if people will be considering the higher cost of shipping when deciding to online shop. They will have to consider whether or not the cost of shipping outweighs the cost of gas to go get the item at the store. It will be interesting to watch how this comes out.

Oh Rosetta, that is an excellent point! That's right, the post office DID raise our rates!!!! :) I wonder which will actually be cheaper in the end. Meanwhile the post office had come out with last year that "forever" stamp that was supposed to be good for so long. Who would know that forever was a year long? lol :)

No, the forever stamps are still good. That was the compromise the post office came up with. They get to raise rates every year or so, but the forever stamps can be bought at the current price and used forever, regardless of the rate at the time of use.

Oh I thought the forever stamps would no longer be good! Thank you for letting me know they will work now, and for awhile at least. But you are right, it will be interesting to see what happens with the price of gas and how it affects everything. It is having an effect on everything from the cost of food and shipping and everything!

I think it probably will be. I know if I will probably shop a bit more on line. Since I work from home I am trying to only go out once during the week, so I try to get everything done on that one day. Since I work at home I can do this. I try to get all my postal supplies in that one day as well as all my food. But if I run out of time I can always order those things on line. I already order most of my books on line. But if gas gets much higher I will happily order my groceries on line as well. I did that once before it was nice and convenient, and the guy placed the bags in the door for me. It saved me so much time not having to haul everything in from the car. The delivery charge and tip were a bit excessive, but if gas gets much higher it will certainly be worth it.

I totally agree with you ladym, :) I work at home too -- so shopping online is so convenient. I've never ordered my groceries online. That is certainly something to consider. I have a friend who orders her groceries online and she just LOVES it!

i think so. people are looking for ways to save money, so they can have money to spend on other things that are needed. it would make it convienent for those who want to shop but can't afford it because of the gas prices.
