These are my onions. I have about 20 of each yellow and green onions planted here. I am planting more soon as well to keep in stock for the salads etc. These will be ready in about 2 weeks or less maybe and I can taste them already in my salad or for cooking up as a spice etc. Do you love green and yellow onions homegrown?

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I have been using a lot of onions on my salads and some of my dishes too. And I never have thought that maybe, I could grow them myself. I got the inspiration from you. haha..And now, I will have to call my husband's agriculturist friend on how and where I can buy the plants or seeds.

I love onions. I like white, yellow and green onions. We have some green onions planted this year in our garden, along with some leaf lettuce and some tomatoes. I can hardly wait for these fresh vegetables to be ready to eat on salads and all of my other foods as well. Homegrown is so much better than store bought vegetables for sure.

I tried lettuce my first year in the house but the rabbits got it before it grew too much. Next year I am going to try it again now that I have Buster running around scaring them off.

I know what you mean. We used to have the same problem also. We have a fenced in back yard and we have sealed it off fairly well now so the rabbits cannot get in my yard. That helped alot. I love rabbits in my yard but not when my garden is out.

There's nothing like fresh onions in a salad. I love onions in almost everything! Not sure if I will be adding any onions or not to my little bucket garden or not, but will keep that in mind.

Oh, yes! My friend in Arizona sent me some wonderful Vidalia Onion seeds and I can't wait for them to grow. Of course, I have to plant them first!
Onion are supposed to be very, very good for you. I like the scallions. Lots of people just eat the ends but I like the green part, too.

Oh how I wish that I had the room to grow these. I love onions of any type, but the spring onions are my favorite. I am going to have a few tomato plants this year, but no onions. Maybe next year I will find the room for them.

They don't take a lot of room at all.
They can be planted 2 inches apart.

I love onion rings a lot. I don't make my own. I really like the onion chips they sell at White Castle. Also theres a few places that sell "Onion Loaves." Its basically breaded onions like onion rings, but deep fried in a loaf like bread. Huge, tasty, and best of all greasy.

Oh I love onions..I remember when my Dad took care of my Grandma's garden for her and we would pick green onions and he would clean one for me and I would eat it right there..For some reason though, out of 4 children, not one likes onions, I was hoping for one to love them..

I enjoy onions. Green ones can be tasty with the right pasta and sauce. I prefer red onions though. They go well in a tomato mozzerella salad. Makes it a perfect dish.

I have yet to try and grow regualr onions as opposed to the salad type these are. Maybe next year I may grow some red and bermuda onions. Thanks.

I tried a few onions the one time in Minnesota a few years back and they didn't do too well. They were in the first row that was exposed to the outside and that's the area that the dogs always ended up trompling in, and I think the horses even got into it once. It ended up being a mess.
To me, an onion is pretty much an onion, so I would rather save what little bit of real estate I have for something that I really do prefer home grown. If I had plenty of room, I'd plant them, though, along with a few other things.

Long as it's something I already like, I prefer homwgrown to store bought any day.
