Communion With God In A Place Of Worship

Whether you are in a temple,a church,a mosque or for that matter any place of worship to which you have faith, what would be the preference - the place as crowded..secluded? It is commonly believed that God answers to prayers engaged in by groups of people. Will God not answer the silent prayer of a tormented and lonely human? I am still in doubt as to the nature of rapport that one should maintain with God.A unique communication pattern that is lonesome OR an eventful outburst of emotions in the form of high sounding prayers...

Though I do take part in group prayers I like communicating with God on a one to one basis. I like to spend some time alone with him everyday and talking to him. Sometimes it may not be in a place of worship but in the privacy of my bedroom but I make time to spend with him alone everyday. These are the most peaceful moments of my day where I tell him of my joys and sorrows of the day. There are not prayers taught in childhood at that time. It is just conversation!

There are all types of prayers...petition, for yourself or for others, praise, thanksgiving, and yes, I think silent prayers are valid. Our relationship with God should be 24/7, just not for one hour on Sunday.

I prefer the secluded prayer. He hears and answers. I know there is something in the Bible about going into a closet and being alone for prayer too. I think he hears all our prayers. As long as its from our heart.

I feel that God hears all prayers, rather they be silent or loud,it does not have to be loud since our God is not deaf..He also knows our heart and he knows our very thoughts.he knows if our thoughts are pure ...Yes God will hear the prayer of a silent prayer of a tormented and lonely human...God hears all prayers but he may not answer all prayers....He answers your prayers according to his will.for you.Sometimes he answers our prayers when he knows its best that he don't, because some things we ask for ,we don't need.but he will sometimes give us out desires because we ask...When i am in need or troubled i do ask God to help me,and i also ask him that if he is trying to teach me by this trial please help me to learn what he is trying to teach me...When i talk with God my prayers may not always be answered but i find that i have peace through whatever it is....

God listens and answers prayers no matter where you are. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord And Savior, then God is your Heavenly Father and he is always willing to this and answer your prayers. Now God does not always answer prayers the way that we think they should be answered. Because God knows the end from the beginning, he will only do what is best for use and we learn to trust in his decissions for our lives. Sometimes he says yes, sometimes no, and sometimes wait. We have to learn to be sensitive to the voice of the Lord. The Bible says, my sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow. The best thing to do if you have not heard from God is to continue to wait. He will let you know that it is him.

Since He is omnipresent(present everywhere) we could put quite a lot of trust and faith in God Almighty and hope to receive continued blessings wherever we are.

Obviously I would prefer to be in a silent zone because it will give me much room to concentrate. I do not feel well going on for a prayer in a crowded place, not quite sure if God has any preference towards group prayer or not. But I believe so far and so long I am ready to surrender myself, I'll be able to make Him happy!

Inevitably, everyone's relationship with God is a very personal thing. Some prefer to worship in the company of others and often feel uncomfortable with silent worship, except, perhaps, as quick private prayers. They seem to draw their strength and comfort from the ritual and well-known words as well as from the sympathy of collective worship. This is not the only way of approaching God, however. There are as many (and the number is increasing) who prefer to 'go it alone'. Indeed, you might not think that they were religious at all except that one often perceives a centred quietness about them and in the way they behave. I think that, for everyone, there is a right way of relating to whatever each person thinks of as God and that for everyone it is different. There is no doubt that most religions agree that, ultimately, the relationship is a personal one between each person and God alone. I, personally, abhor the apparent insincerity of ready-made, high sounding words and the recital of formulae out of mere habit. I'm aware, however, that I am in danger of throwing the baby out with the bathwater in rejecting this. There is, after all, a great power in the subconscious and repeating mantras or words that may seem to have become meaningless by overuse may actually be a way of tapping and directing this power. It seems to me that, by choosing to let whatever words or thoughts seem appropriate at the time become my colloquy, I have perhaps chosen a harder road than I need have done. Perhaps, in God's eyes, I am a troublesome and unruly child who will never be as good as he might be. I sometimes sigh for myself, on His behalf! It's at those times, especially, though that I feel His love around me and His spirit guiding.

In our Church, the reverend or pastor depending on what his title is, says a prayer for all the congregation and there are certain prayers that are specific to particular needs. There is one for the harvest, one for planting, one for the congregation and that gets into detail, like for the sick, the mentally infirm, the childless (this gets into a bit of problem because no one wants to hear "for whom God felt it not best to grant them children" so one pastor who was visiting prayed that those who were childless their prayers would be answered so those who were unable to bear children did not think that the reason God would not grant them was through some fault of their own, their husband's or that they had the John Gacey gene in them. The minister would also pray for specific members who were extremely ill, suffering from depression, cancer, diabetes, were in hospital, etc. I know that God answers prayers, but some people do not think that their silent prayers are not heard because they are sinful. It does poise a problem since it seems that the more that problem or need is voiced, the prayer is usually answered. And sometimes the person feels that her prayer is not answered because society does not think her needs are important. like years ago, in the 70s, infertility was considered something no one talked about and consequently no one prayed about or asked their church to pray for them. So there are a lot of men and women who cannot have their own children, because they were the only ones who prayed but they did not get the support of the other members because they did not feel they would understand.

I prefer seclusion sometimes and mass prayer at other times. When I am in an emotional state and my soul is crying to God, I prefer to be alone because I don't want others to see tears falling from my eyes. I feel it would be a show of being devout and the real emotion will go away. At other times, like when there is a festival and people are singing and dancing to devotional music, I love to join the fervour and be a part of that bliss. At these times, mass prayer makes your heart brim with joy. Either way, I believe God hears your prayers. He only sees the sincerity of the heart in the prayer, not the environment in which you pray.

The beauty of having a personal relationship with God, sukumar, is that you can commune with Him anywhere. I believe that He hears us whenever we desire to reach out to Him. Many people believe that you have to attend church or temple, or wherever you would normally worship, but we also carry Him in our hearts. That is just my take on it.

In my experience, communion with God is ever-present. No need for special forms, or locations, of worship. Find what serves you best, and do that. God will be glad for it.

God is no respecter of place, persons or situations,He answers our prayers irrespective of where we are but what He is interested in is the state of our minds and our faith in Him when we come to pray to Him i love to talk to God especially when am alone but of course i do pray to HIm when in a group.each of this have their own place in our relationship with HIm there is a place of solitude as well as a place for group prayers. But really we need to understand that we cant really concentrate much when in a group prayer and mostly group prayer focus on group requirements while solitude prayers mostly focus on what you personally need eg prayer for your own friends, families, personal, etc

I don't think that it matters. It is what you are comfortable with in communicating with God. I have always thought that prayers in public should always be kept short and to the point. Private prayer is where you get personal with God and bring all your joys and sorrows to Him. It is just like when you do talk. If you are talking to a crowd you don't get as personal as if you are talking one on one with an individual.

I do not believe in organized religion. In this day and age no matter what denomination every preacher's sermon always at some point asks for money. I am very happy in my relationship with God. It is opem and free. I can talk/pray to him when and wherever I feel like it and I know by the results He hears me.

Hi sukumar, For me life itself is prayer, and God is all there is. We are all different and at different stages in our spiritual development, so there is really no right or wrong way, just what is right for us at the moment. Blessings.

I think God answers everybody irregardless if we do in group or do it alone, for the simple reason that we asked for it. Our body alone is a temple with this we can worship alone anytime we want... When we do worships in group it is more of a celebration, people gather to celebrate God... What is most important is that we find time and ways to thank and praise God.

first of all.. remember that the prince of this world (Satan) can also answer prayers... so determine if you are a child of God.. John 8:42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God." then if you determine that you are from God He will answer your prayers... and it is His will be done always... it depends on His purpose.. ^_^
