Today is the Winter Solstice, the day when earth's poles reach their maximum axial tilt away from the Sun and today winter starts. According to an ancient middle oriental superstition the "Dark Spirits" walk the earth during "the...

@mayka123 I always find old traditions and superstitions like these interesting, especially learning how people explained natural events centuries ago. We don't really have a special tradition for the winter solstice, but I certainly enjoy the cooler weather after...

At this hour, I'm usually not here in mylot. I'm supposed to be at work and not at home. Sister is there to manage everything for the day. Two of our maids are absent and the only one left in the house is our very old maid,...

@mayka123 It's sad that her own family doesn't look after her, but it's lovely that she has your family around her. At over 80, I can understand why you'd rather she rested, but she obviously likes feeling useful and independent. She certainly sounds determined!

I will get dressed soon so we can head out. But wanted to say hi first. Hoping for an easy day. But that depends on how much my friend buys. Euchre will be starting a half hour early tonight. That makes it easier on 2 of us that...

@mayka123 Sounds like you had a full day planned between the auction, chickens and euchre. Starting earlier definitely makes sense as the days get shorter. The puzzles are a good idea for anyone waiting their turn too. Hope you had a fun evening!

My friend didn't buy a whole lot today. I got another flat of strawberries like the last one. I also got a toy truck with a lot of sand toys with it for Christopher if my son makes it for Christmas again. My partner and I were...

@mayka123 Even without winning, it sounds like you had a fun day, and another flat of strawberries is always a nice bonus! The toy truck sounds like a lovely Christmas gift for Christopher too. Mary Jane obviously decided you needed some extra affection when you got...

@mayka123 It's good that your mom has her cousin's experience to reassure her and knows a little about what to expect. Hopefully the referral comes through quickly and everything goes smoothly. Wishing her all the best with the surgery and recovery.

@mayka123 A photo book is such a lovely personalised gift, and I'm sure she'll enjoy looking through all those memories. I also prefer getting gifts organised early rather than rushing around at the last minute. Now you can relax knowing November's gift is already...

@mayka123 Those cat slippers sound like one of those things you don't need but simply have to have! ?? A good price makes it even more tempting, although shipping charges can spoil the bargain. I don't think I've ever ordered something after seeing it posted on MyLot.
