is it your policy to mark best responses to your discussions? of you just leave your readers to decide?
how do you select best responses? when you do select it? do you a lot maybe a day before selecting the best response?
what is your marking rule?
5 responses to the best respondent!

No because it is your right to designate the response you think is best as the best response, that and I only think I should get the best response if I deserve it.

I do not mark best responses on a regular basis but I do try to when I have time. I think that the "response" system mylot has is a great system to award those with great ideas and great responses. It also allows people to be known as once a best response is marked it indicates it at the top of the page.
I really like your idea of marking best responses as I think that it's a great way to have fun while encouraging people to respond more to you. It's also great that you let it be well known so that people will look at your own discussions and respond. It's a win win situation.
I don't know of a way to do this for my own responders, as like I said I do it when I have time. I may think of my own way to reward these responders.
Happy Postings To You, and Have Fun Here At Mylot.

Yes I also rate my responders positively. Although some people believe that the star rating is not a great idea, I think that it helps in finding those who give great responses.

I also find it as a win-win situation. I want to reward my respondents for increasing my earnings by increasing also their earnings. it creates a symbiotic relationship. that's why i like marking best responses.
i also use it to find more friends here in mylot. i know of some who have thousands of friends here and i think it is great!
i also rate all replies to my discussions positively. that way, even if haven't chosen them as best respondents, they are still rewarded for responding.

I do. I figure, I like knowing someone liked what I had to say, so I"ll return the favor.

Off hand, I can't say yes or no, not sure specifically. but I do know I would give BR, if it was an intelligent and sensible comment. Just cause we don't agree, doesn't mean I am right, they are wrong.

I wait for a couple of weeks after the last response has come in. Its only after that I give a BR rating. But sometimes I do get a response that has touched me in some way. Then that response gets the BR rating right away. I check not only the kind of response the person gives but how long there is exchange of responses between us. Sometimes the string of conversation continues for a long time and I like that a lot.

The string of conversation is really one of the best measure
to select the best response. Because that string shows how involved
a person is in the discussion and how willing he is to talk
with you about it. I also use that in choosing the best
response.
I also look for the most unique response, something with a personal
touch. Responses which are mostly similar to each other seldom
get the best response award. I look for the one that really stood
out.
Have a nice day!

yes i never forget to mark best response in my discussions.but when there are so many responses,it's indeed a little difficulty to chosse a best one.basically,i'll mark the best one in the first 10 respnses.what's more, response with more reactions is more likely to be the br.

hi my friend,it's true that we earn more if our discussions have more responses and comments.that's why i always give each response and comment to my discussions positive rating.since they have increased my earnings,i also wish myself is helpful to increase their reputations.

i also think responses with more comments more likely deserves the best response. for it means they have been very cooperative in the effort of making a healthy conversation.
i am also having the idea that responses with a lot of comments earns the host more points.
i have not been able to mark best responses lately because i am busy catching up responding to my best respondents. that is also why i only have few new discussions started yet.

I am bad at choosing best responses. I often forget to mark them for months. A few days ago for example I read every e-mail I got from Mylot in my inbox and chose the best responses then. I resolve to try and be better in this effort because I know some people put a lot of work into their responses and they deserve to be rewarded for them.

I have set a time to mark the best response. Usually, I mark the
best response maybe after one day, or after a time when the
discussion is not any more active. that way, I don't have
problems with unresolved discussions.
But now, I am having many unresolved discussions now. But I plan
to resolve those and pick best responses after I reach the
payout for this month. that would be my new method of
picking the best responses for my discussions.

I do mark best responses but admittedly sometimes pretty lame in it. In fact, I just went thru and did up a bunch this morning. It is easy when you only have a couple of responses but it is so very difficult when there are many. I usually narrow it down to a few or at least try to. I will get tired of trying to decide and if they are all equally good, I'll pick one that I don't think I've picked before...spread the love. I really don't like that task but and procrastinate terrible but it does put a smile on someones face so I do take time to do it.

I think when you are marking the best response, you are also
encouraging and motivating the mylot members to respond more
and give more of their effort in responding. That way, this
community will be filled with inspired and motivated persons
and will grow healthy.
I know what you mean how difficult it is to choose the best
response when there are a lot of responses in a discussion.
I usually choose the most unique and most interesting answer.

i don't usually give them out right away..
if i ask a question or need help, etc. i give it to who ever answers my question or helps me.
and on other discussions that aren't like that i'll sometimes just kind of pick randomly if i can't decided which one i like best. lol but i try and just pick the one that best answers to the discussion topic.

yes. i do care about selecting a best response. it's the least thing that you can do to the people who responded to your discussion. i believe that giving them credits will make them feel that they accomplished something & they are recognized for it. i usually wait until no one responds to my discussion. if a day passed & no one added their response, then that's the time i select the best response. i hope all discussion starters practice this.

I've only recently joined, but I have created a few discussions that interest me and want to discuss with other people. I have received a few great responses, but since - again - I am a fairly new member, I want to make sure I provide ample opportunity for others to view and respond to my discussions. I think I'll set a cut-off mark of about a week, save for the 0 responses (those which of course I'll give a little more time) to provide a best response. I do take the selection seriously because I don't want to just be giving BR's willy-nilly - that would just render the value of the BR as insignificant. I want to make sure I reward a member when they provide me with insight, entertainment, a valid opinion and a non-judgmental response.

hi friend:
In fact, i have not marked any one of the respondence on my discussion yet.
Some friend's respondence is really nice and meaningful.I have the point to mark some later.
And i think every of my repliers want me to do this.Because it will make them earn a little more, the important thing we just get them guaranteed by our sure best answer.isn't it?
Have a good day.

Sometimes we can say that we have given our best answer and still
it is not chosen as the best response. It is in the mercy of the
discussion starter.
I always like to mark best response to reward my respondents for their
very best effort that they put into the discussion. Sometimes, it
really becomes hard to choose one but I guess we really have to.
I think it is better to choose one that to choose none.

We all have opinions therefore choosing ' a best response' can be difficult, yet it really is manners because, at times, you can keep checking back wondering if you will ever get a response, other times you get so many you find it a problem selecting a preference. Wouldn't other go through the same emotions?

I think it really matters to select best responses because
I think if you won't select any, you are depriving your respondents
the right to get the award of being the best.
I think it is not fair not to select one even if becomes very hard.
Have a nice day!

Is this the one I am supposed to find???? Well there is certainly no zero response rate now! It was not my policy in the past, no; but I have been making every effort over the last few weeks to catch up and mark best responses to all the topics I have posted over the last two years. I am almost done!

There are only a few posts that I started will receive best responses. I know the best response the moment I read it. Sometimes I have to wait and see if anyone else will top it. Most of the time they don't and I mark it.I usually wait a couple of days. But then again I have waited and mark a best response only to have another post come in that should have been the best. And I have a few posts that don't have a best response because there were two that were great and I couldn't decide between the two.

I just finished giving best responses the other day. I must admit that it was really tiring. I had more than 5 pages to work on. It was my fault, I did not give the best response as soon as I should have. I read all responses and choose the response that satisfies me the most and that's what I choose as best response. It is difficult at times though because most of the responses given are really great!

I am not expecting a best response to this, but you can check out my discussions anytime you wish... I wish to review my topics in a little more time. I just find more ways to improve my status here. Best response for me doesn't mean a lot for this, I guess doesn't even improve our earnings. It only motivates us to write more quality discussions and to respond to discussions that would give more challenge to the writer or the starter of it. I think, generally, best response goes to everyone of us here, to write more. More discussions that help us all improve ourselves, as human beings...

Not really. But sometimes when the discussion worth to be marked, then I go ahead to mark the best response which is like a reward to mylotters.

Actually I only mark the best responses if they really have answered the discussion in a very unique, honest and clear way. Also I usually wait for some time before marking because I still need to view other answers as well.
