It is becoming increasingly hard to find food items that are grown and packed in Canada (or the U.S.) Food items sold in stores here in Canada, marked as "Product of Canada," are actually grown and processed in China.
How do you like your chicken? Avoid buying all processed food packaged in China Anything goes! We just don't know what else is in those packages. Unlike in the U.S. and Canada, China does not have laws regulating food processing. Basically, do not buy any processed food from China,or Hong Kong. Many companies are using a Hong Kong address to avoid this type of image and reputation.
Early dawn, starts the day by riding around on bicycles collecting dead chickens. A total of 5 riders are hired by the boss to ride to farms to buy dead chickens. A dead chicken cost 1 RMB can be sold at 9 RMB after processing. Storage for the dead chickens is in the court yard. Carcasses are thrown everywhere. And on the floor four employees start defeathering the dead fowl after soaking in boiling water from a rusty wok. Enduring the pungent odor, which can sometimes get so terrible that many experienced workers will vomit. Workers rushing to get the chickens defeathered.
A discarded bath tub being used to soak the bare skin dead chickens, the contaminated water would have accelerated the decomposition process.
Wearing slippers walking among the chickens before the coloring processing. After the color dye, its creepy to find that they are quite tenderized. And now presenting the mouth watering Charcoal Roasted Chicken!Do NOT buy food originating in China (or Vietnam or Thailand )! Take the time to read the labels and look for country of origin! Do not buy Chinese food products, for your own safety!

Gosh, I feel so sorry for you guys. You've got it bad there. I've always said that we humans will die out from disease if Mother Nature doesn't destroy us first. We get lots of canned things from overseas but mostly our food is home grown and packaged. I guess that's why our grocery items are so expensive. Good luck to you all I say.

Not so here in North America, Ms! We have outsourced a Great amount of our food supply. Its impossible to buy raw fish grown in the U.S. or Canada. Its all imported from China. We no longer press and can (or bottle) our own apple juice. You guessed it- apples are grown, pressed and shipped in bulk to Canada to be canned and labeled as "Product of Canada!" This is criminal, but that's how it works. I'm so Glad you Aussies have your own food supply!

As we walked throught a Market in Vietnam we saw a woman vendor with what looked like a skinned cat. As we approached she saw our camera and covered her produce. We asked our interpreter why she did that? Apparently the cat was a wild specimen on the endangered list. Our pictures might have been traced to her and she would have been in deep trouble.

I know that other countries don't all have the same restrictions that we do here in the U.S., but I don't necessarily believe everything I hear about such atrocities either.
Where did you get this information from? What is your source?

In Feb 2007, I went on a tour of East Asia and Taiwan. I ate in the restaurants and visited the markets in Vietnam, Laos, and Taiwan. IN those 3 weeks I learned first-hand what, and what not to eat. For the main part East Asian Countries are not big exporters (yet), but China is taking over our food industry here in North America. Most people have heard about the Chinese pet food ingredients that killed our pets. Their blatant sales of Tooth Paste with Glycol (antifreeze)ingredient. China and Vietnam are playing catch-up with North America. We poisoned our environment in the 1960's with DDT. They are now poisoning us with chemicals that have been banned in N.A. for decades. I learned enough about the food handling, and food ingredients in the 3 weeks I was in Asia to do me for the rest of my life! Need I say More?
