I planted caladiums before I went to Minnesota.

Caladiums in a conservatory. - This shade loving tuberous plant always is beautiful. There are shades of white, pink, green and red on the leaves. I remember them from when I was a child.

They grow from a tuber, and mine were not up when I left. They are up now, look like little spikes. I took pictures at the conservatory I visited in Minnesota of some caladiums. Do you ever grow them, which ones are the prettiest to you? Or have you never heard of them?

I don't know what a caladium is. Although I do allot of gardening, it's almost all of things I can eat.

This particular one in the picture is in a conservatory. I envy you having had one. Yes, the e-mail notifications do make it strange about pictures.

Ah, now I can see your photograph. Isn't it stupid wthat you when you receive an email alert of a new discussion that you can't see the photo until you've posted? Anyway, I do recognise theses. My Dad used to grow them in the conservatory when I was a girl. They're really attractive.

That is one we never grew. I suspect they would look nice next to the tube roses, though, which is what we (probably wrongly!) called our tuberous begonias.

Funny how names get started. This has to have warm soil to get started, then likes to be in the shade.

I know what they are, but I haven't grown them myself in years. My one elderly Aunt used to always have them in all kinds of varieties and they were so pretty with their fancy leaves. They come in so many nice color combos, it would be hard to pick a favorite. I like the ones with the deep red center and the deep green edges, and sometimes have a little stripe of beige/tan color separating the other two colors. I also like the ones that have the lighter green leaf with the lighter pink in the center. I think they're one of the showier plants for the garden. Quite frankly, I'm surprised I don't grow them anymore! Will have to remedy that for sure lol!

That is what I felt. I had not planted any in years, although mom and grandma ALWAYS had them.

Caladiums - Pretty colors
I have grown all different colors of caladiums and was surprised at how large the leaves can become. I tried some dwarf ones and they did nicely as houseplants.

I do believe that I have heard of them, but would not recognize them if I were walking in a field of them.
