Hi friends there has to be someone who may be able to give me some advice on this.
My mouse on my laptop keeps freezing
then I have to turn it off manually so the mouse starts working again--why does this keep happening? Am I doing something wrong? For what reason does the mouse stop?
Please someone explain this to me so maybe I can sort it out I get quite annoyed when this happens
...please share

Hi!
Ok, we may need a little more information. What type of Laptop is it? Are you using XP, Vista or something else? Is this the mouse that is built into your laptop or one that you attach? If it is attached what kind of mouse is it? You say you have to turn "it" off, do you mean the laptop or the mouse (if you have a cordless mouse some of those can be turned off.)?
My first suggestion with the info that we have already though would be to reload the drivers (or see if there are new drivers out there for it). If it is an external mouse, you may try a different one to see if you get the same behavior.

Maybe its not just your mouse. It appear that your system hangs a lot base on your account. Darkdancer is right, an added info would shed more light. Things like what application are you using when this normally happened. What I would normally do in this kind of situation is to do a disk scan for possible file corruption, a system cleanup and a registry fix. I would always try to do a system repair or maintenance before suspecting a hardware problem.

System cleanup is removing of unwanted and temporary files in your hard disk, a registry fix ensure that your window and all programs installed will run smoothly. I would suggest you download CCleaner from this site http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This is freeware, fast and very straight forward to use. Try this and if you need some more help just post it right here.

I sure wish that I could help you. Are you using a regular mouse or are you using a wireless mouse? I am using a wireless mouse and it freezes on me sometimes too. I just press the button and it unfreezes it most of the time. I also have to run my spyware zapper sometimes also. Spies like to settle on your computer and it will make your mouse or system freeze if you do not get rid of them.

Hi Steph-I have an inbuilt mouse so when the cursor freezes I have to turn my laptop off first to unfreeze it-but htink I will run my spyware when it happens though i do every day before using it though my son uses it too and doesn't take much notice of what hes doing or if the laptop is scanning that really infuriates me cos I never touch it when it scans-your friend littleowl ps I really feel like asking my son to get a comruter of his own!! But he wouldn't

My first suspicion is that your computer is infected with spyware/malware, and bogged down. But sometimes it could be your security software or other autostart applications and device drivers.
I see that you're using Windows XP. What else can you tell us about your computer? How much RAM memory do you have? Here's how to check: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdekphHpHNU If you could also tell us what kind of processor you have and what kind of security software you are using, I might be able to tell you more.
