How do I keep bugs away from my pool like public pools do?

Hi all. I have an above ground pool but I am not able to enjoy it most of the time because these little yellow bugs like to bite me and they love to crawl around my liner in my pool, the railing, and on my decj boards around my pool. They bite me and land all over my skin and my hair. I cannot stand it. We have tried using bug spray, seven dust for the yard and citranelle candles and they will not go away. It seems to attract them even more but it does kill them. I do not want them to come near my pool no more. How do I keep these bugs and other bugs out of my yard and first and foremost out of my swimming pool area?

why don't you call the public swimming pool and see if you can talk to the maintenance department and see what they use?

That is a good idea that I may have to try sooner or later. We put down some Seven chemical today with our water hose and the container that it comes in. It is for thrips. I hope it works for us. We will soon know. May get in the pool today if the water is warm enough.

I would think they are drawn to the water,We have little red and balck ones instead of yellow and your slapping more at bugs then swimming or relaxing. You might have to get a exterminator to come in and spray for the bugs which would be a little costly but more effective because they would do the whole outside yard maybe. They possibly stay in the trees so they will have to be sprayed as well. You might have to get those lamps that smoke to keep the bugs away since most bugs hate smoke. But since all else has failed it might be time for the bug man exterminator. We are also dealing with locusts right now.

Yes. they love water. The ones we have here vary in color. some of them are yellow, some are red, and some are orange. They are called thrips. I am constantly slapping at bugs too. It drives me nuts, so I come inside. We put down some spray today for them. I hope it works. The bad thing is, when we put down the spray, a snake made it's way into our yard. We killed it. If it isn't bugs, it is snakes. It is just so fun, not!

I guess you could try to consult it in the Insect's Company for further guidelines about it but maybe you could try to clean the whole area first because as i knew all those bugs would only come forward in the place in which it have some sweets around in there and used those powder repellent for insects......

The whole area around our deck and pool, is clean. It is all fairly new wood. These thrip bugs love water. I want to repel them away from it. We put down some spray today for them and I hope and pray that it works.

Hello Doll I think first you have to kill them off which I think if you shock the pool it should do that but prior to shocking get a large amount of cinnamon to spring and rake into the sand around the pool. Also planting marigolds around can repell all kinds of bugs. I also found a site where you can take a less natural approach. xoxoxoxoxoxo http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_some_different_ways_to_get_swimming_pool_bugs_out_of_the_pool

They actually do not hang out in the pool. They like to hang around the pool, deck and liner of the pool. They are called thrips. We already shocked the pool. These bugs like to come out when the sun is shining. They like to land around the pool or on your skin that is outside of the pool and bite you. They cake in my hair and on my bathing suit. We put down some seven today. I hope that takes care of them

Hi there. Are there Pest Busters in your country? If such a thing were to happen to me, I'll call the Pest Busters. They specialize in killing/getting rid of all sorts of bugs. I do not even want to get involved with the bugs as I hate bugs.

I called an exterminator a few years ago and they had no clue what I was talking about. I found them online and they are called thrips. We put down some killer for them today. I hope it takes care of them for a while. I hate bugs on me, especially if they bite.
